On a related note, considering that work on Transformers 2 has come to a deathly silence due to an impending strike, who thinks work on RT will make it to May/June 2008? Considering that there's no script/screenplay, and nothing much beyond producers and a studio...I don't think this production can make it to May 2008 cutoff assuming that there is a possible strike on the horizon and assuming the worst.

Which is the point I've been explaining since yesterday. It's going to be based off RT, not Macross. It won't look like RT '85 or Macross. Should this thing ever be made, we will probably hear the same complaints from the RT crowd that the Trans-fans made when Bay-formers came out. On licensing issues? What licensing issues? There's no script/screenplay, no designs, nothing. Even then, where does BW come into this? This is about RT, not Macross.

But you can't hire actors without a screenplay. Most want to read it first before jumping on board. Link for G4's comment about spring 2008? Cuz i don't see it. Time and money. Forget the old designs and just get your own crew to create something new. Nice to know there's actually someone here who's actually thinking how they are going to round down a 36-out-of-80-something episode TV series into 2 hour movie. -Definitely agree that the VF-1 will look different. May share some qualities similar to the original, but it will be redesigned. -Love Triangle...It will be simplified definitely. This will not feel like a chick-flick figuring out who will the guy go for. -Culture shock...I agree. It will be downplayed. I would say they use music because it disrupts the alien systems or something to that effect. Seeing why the aliens react to people kissing or music coming out of an iPod take too long. -Trip back from Pluto? Definitely agree. It's going to stay in-between Earth and the Hubble telescope. At the core is Robotech, but everything around it will look and feel different.

From the looks of many articles, they want to make this a franchise. Whether or not they get there, that's up in the air. WB will want to have something to compete with Dreamworks. Licensing issues? I don't think we'll have an issue. They'll come up with new designs for everything. New VF-1, new SDF-1, new Alpha, Beta, Hovertanks, Cyclones, everything. Only in names and spirit will the animation and movie(s) be similar. They painted a Peterbilt with flames on it and called it "Optimus Prime", so it's not beyond the realm of thought that they'll design something new and call it a VF-1. If it ever reaches that stage, I'm sure everything will be redesigned. Whatever they abuse, they will abuse ROBOTECH. Drop any thought of Macross (Japan) from any train of thought. Let's see what kind of franchise they want to pitch to WB...

I had a whole idea about what they would put into an RT movie but considering there's no pitch to the studio..... I will say that if they do pitch RT to the studio, it will be a modern retelling, (much like Bay-formers). There will be elements there to appeal to both old and new fans and a similar story (i.e. alien ship crashes on Earth, transforming planes), but I expect a very different feel (design and probably character-wise)compared to the animation.

Considering how bad the Gundam live action turned out to be... I'm sure a Robotech live action will use the Macross Saga since most people would remember that part of RT. If they create a new franchise out of this (say 2 or 3 movies), it will follow the current Hollywood franchise formula. First movie is the origin movie with the hero "getting his wings". The 2nd movie follows the trials of the hero etc.

Agreed. This is (say it with me) ROBOTECH not Macross. I expect zero/nadda/00/null/ゼロ involvement from the original Japanese creators. Tatsunoko, would be the only ones involved and that would only be a licensing issue. Agreed. If they use the VF-1, I expect it to be Raptor-ized. They made Optimus a Peterbilt, Bumblebee a Camero, Megatron a alien jet...I would almost expect them to make the VF-1 look like a modern fighter. I also expect the Zentradi mecha to look much different. The core idea of a Regult (a pod with 2 chicken legs) will be there, but that's about it.

I don't think they quite understand that. But we'll save that for another thread... I think MF's work is underway but her involvement hasn't started. If I don't hear about a premiere date within the next 2 weeks, then it will probably have a Winter start date.

Asus has been working with Apple for a while now. Since about the time that Apple switched to Intel processors. They haven't added any more storage to the shuffle. It was 1GB before and it's still the same except in new colors.

We have no clue who's who yet because we don't have production lineart to go with names. We only have 1 name, "Ranka Lee" (unconfirmed spelling), and that is the only character confirmed. We have no production lineart on any VFs as well. That VF that "looks like" the VF-5000 has not been confirmed to be a VF-5000.

The 8800GTS will get you farther along. An 8600 GTS in SLI would bring you close to a 8800GTS but if your budget doesn't allow you to get an 8800, then an 8600 in SLI would be ok.
