Macross 25th Anniversary and Macross F/Frontier news thread III

The Galaxy fleet could be where she's originally from. This "Fairy of Galaxy" alludes to that. I think she's real. If she was a virtual idol, they probably would have mentioned it. -

Server-side, Linux/UNIX is an ideal set-up. My workplace has several clusters running Linux or some variant of UNIX or BSD. But on the desktop side, Windows and Macs dominate, and that so far, won't change much anytime soon. -
If one could find a way to make subbed anime profitable, I'm sure companies will get behind it. But until then...

It's interesting to say the least...There are a few Wing-elements in there, but I would say it's still a bit early to figure where this show is going.

Chances are, we will not see the VF-24. It appears to be just a design note as opposed to an actual fighter. Many VFs that are mentioned are never seen but are mentioned as design notes. -
Whether or not the know wasn't my point. They do know. The problem is do they understand the impact it has. They need to think more than just DVDs/BluRay/HD-DVD. No one format really stands out.

If you don't like a boot loader like Boot Camp, you could run Parallels or WMware. -

I highly doubt we will see a VF-24. -

Actually, PC World got a laptop that was faster than the MBP. The Eurocom D900C Phantom-X, which was tested after they printed the article. But the $5158 US price tag will probably make many reconsider....really fast. Concerning the Macbook, you can sure find something cheaper. And better. I can price a XPS 1330 for cheaper. But it comes down to what you want. After how-many-years of Windows, I was ready to get away from Windows. Linux was one alternative. But the marketplace started opening up to Macs when I started looking. And since my experience with Macs was limited, I felt this was a better choice. Thankfully at time, Macs started using Intel chips, so it made my hardware comparisons easier. When I actually started using OS X in the field, I found it to be quite a pleasant experience and not so bad once I started using it. Another thing that sealed my deal was Boot Camp. I could run Windows on the Mac so if i needed to run certain applications that needed a native Windows environment, I could easily switch to Windows. But that's not to say OS X is not without its flaws, but I found the Mac side of things generally easier to deal with than a PC. -
Concerning ep. 10:

But then we get to the argument, why do I want to read subtitles when I'm watching something? Which leads us to the dub/sub debate, which isn't the point. The decline in DVD sales has been coming since the rise of digital distribution. The same happened to CDs when digital distribution bursted on the scene. The computer is coming in as a multimedia platform. What once was a tool, is now coming into the living room and a one-stop gaming machine, recording device, media player, etc. Whether or not the industry realizes this is something I can't say.

In other words, it's definitely NOT UN military, regardless of being a private or civil defense group. Still, where is the UN in all of this... The VF-11MAXL Kai's engines were taken from the VF-16. -
sketchley, one thing to keep in mind is, many people don't get this. I have noted this on another forum where this discussion is going on. Some things that work for American culture doesn't work for Asian culture(s) and vice versa. Having multiple languages on media or a device is great, but it will find little use if the target consumer can't understand those other languages. Do the Japanese have any use for French, German, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian? Probably not. Many shows on the Japanese airwaves are not originally intended for these audiences. Why do I want to broadcast an Indian show to South Africans? Or a Russian show to Brazilians? Satellite TV is designed for viewers, outside of their country of origin, to watch programming in their native language and watch programming that relates to them, not for everybody to watch. Power Rangers is adapted for the US audience from its Sentai origins because the mannerisms and many other things would just fly over the kids' heads, including the Japanese dialog. In that instance, many people would just stop watching because they don't understand. Concerning the 2 industry replies: Again, they mention some blame is placed on the Japanese licensors. The amount they pay for licenses has to be offset and ventures into other distribution venues are too risky.

Sure it's a lot of money. It doesn't have to be coming from 1 corporation. It could come from a group of corporations (probably with influential people sitting on the Board). We have private security contractors out there right now. Who's to say the Macross-universe doesn't have them either. -

I wonder if this is a completely non-UN funded colony....i.e. this is a completely privately funded colony. The VF-171* is a dressed-down version of the VF-17 sold to private contractors. And the VF-25 doesn't feel any better than a VF-11/VF-5000. Beyond the hip-guns, it appears to have the same armaments (gunpod, head lasers, shield) and can accept the same level of additional parts (FAST packs, Full-Armors). The transformation also doesn't appear to be terribly complex, either. It evens out the playing field, if anything for the writers. -
I wonder how his Cap'n ever gets through a door. But really, I laugh at his Captain America when I see it. He brings in money, what can you say....

It's doubtful that Nadles is O Gundam.

In Robotech, Reflex weapons are Protoculture-based weapons. i.e. Part of the explosive component is based off the stuff on a wacky flower that's used as a fuel source. Anything that uses Protoculture as an energy source is considered "Reflex". In Macross: http://macross.anime.net/story/encyclopedi...apon/index.html Very powerful nukes.

Yuuichi Nakamura (Graham Acre), Aya Endo (Kinue Crossroad), Hiroshi Kamiya (Tieria Erde)...anybody else from Gundam 00 on this project? -
I can be a bit forgiving since we only got half a season due to the writers' strike, but even then, a majority of the season smelled worst than a giant rotting garbage pile. Hiro's dad was comfortable with his fate. He felt that he deserved to die for his "sins".

Now, if Tieria's clothes come off...I can see the fan art now.....

It follows my idea that colony fleets are no longer under the jurisdiction of the UN military forces. Who said anything about marketing to the international community? One nice thing to see is finally we get to see ship-based anti-aircraft weapons being used by the fleet. -

That because both the SV-51 and the VF-11 are both inspired by Sukhoi designs (namely the SV-51 is inspired by the Su-27). And the Lego SV-51 is found in the Shoji Kawamori Design Works book. You can also find the tracing paper over the Lego photo in the book as well.
