The Ultimate Macross Variable Fighter!
azrael replied to VF-7000 THUNDERHAWK's topic in Movies and TV Series
You might as well have said Palladium RPG books. MMD is a RPG website. The stats there are designed for an RPG game. And even MMD doesn't say the BCS/BDI was made for Zentradi. -

That's an accessory. BFGs are not standard equipment. -
Perhaps. But we know it reacts to their blood so we know AFOS responds to a certain genetic marker. As for the actual mechanics of how AFOS translates the user's signals, well...that's Protoculture technology.

The VF-22 does have beam cannons. -

VF-7000 THUNDERHAWK, if you cannot cite where you obtained this information that the BDI/BCS was a total failure, then I suggest you refrain from making a that statement (hence opinion). The kids here will eat you for breakfast. And in a poll that says "The Ultimate Macross Variable Fighter", leaving out the MII fighters is probably a bad idea. -
Ugh...should have ended this topic last night.

Now that I think about it, the X-Gears system reminds me very much of Kawamori's original concept or a guy in a power suit/exo-suit. -
The Nome family have genetic markers (perhaps everybody on that island...) which make them "special". The Nome family are the "pilots" of AFOS. The can interface with AFOS. And AFOS reacts to them. Now, in AFOS's cockpit, there are a series of tubes that wrap around Sara. What those tubes are doing...I leave to your imagination, but Sara was very much "plugged in" to AFOS so it reacts to everything she sees, hears, feels, etc.

Again read the legal thread: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=153 Big West owns the creative rights to Macross in Japan. Tatsunoko owns the SDFM animation. HG owns the license to SDFM through Tatsunoko. Macross 7 carries a very large music license bill which many companies do not have the capital for.

The YF/VF-19 may have been where you have 1st seen wrap-around imaging, but it's not the first place where it has existed. The VF-17 has had that feature before the YF/VF-19, even if limited in use. I imagine it wouldn't take much to just turn on the rest of the screens on a VF-17, then making them standard in a VF-171. Heck they probably turned them on back in M7. -

Part of me still suspects that the VF-19 is reserved for combat units, not colonial units. The VF-25 may be the new unit for colonial units. Unfortunately, we don't have enough info yet. -

Actually, if the VF-171 is a dumb-down version of the VF-17, then it inherited the cockpit layout (and wrap-around imaging screens) from the VF-17, not the YF/VF-19. And the VF-17 did have wrap around imaging. Link -

Destroids inside colony ships is probably not a good thing considering the amount of firepower they hold. The tanks on Frontier are probably more than the recommended defenses. Any fighting within a colony ship is prohibited considering that you could blow a hole in the enclosure. Another thing to consider is room inside a colony ship. Destroids need room to maneuver. That's fairly hard especially when you pack in the people and buildings. And speaking of which, there's also collateral damage caused by Destroids. I'd hate to see a Destroid go through a narrow street, hence tanks. -

Yes, unfortunately, the rumor of Mikimoto's contribution to MF is just that, a rumor. Mikimoto is currently working on a manga, IIRC. It's the same with Miyatake. Miyatake is currently working on My-Otome 0~S.ifr~ OAV. Prior to that he was working on My-Otome Zwei OAV through 2007. So unfortunately, neither one would be available for Frontier. -

Bullets and missiles don't seem to be effective so they might as well get down and dirty. And yes, it does have a shield. See the magazine images. -

It's probably made for the Gears system. And the Gears system is an exo-suit, so why not take advantage of the support and give the pilot a bigger gun with more ammo. It may have some anti-armor munitions, but once the pilot leaves the cockpit, he/she is just a person with a gun. You don't need a tank to take out a single person. I would think of it as a oversized PDW. It gives the pilot (who isn't exactly front-line) better range and armor penetration but the pilot isn't going to take on an entire army with that thing. Imagine if he was shooting that bug with a pistol or SMG... -

I don't believe VFs have gravity control since the pilot is usually sitting and there's very little room to stand. I don't even know if Ranka's phone is living...Maybe a virtual pet phone but I don't know if it's organic.... -
