It doesn't help that the story behind the VF-25 is that it is undergoing performance evaluations. So for now, we just have to wait and see. Mikhail's sniper gun pod may be a new gunpod meant for all specialized VFs. The knife could be just specific to Ozma's VF-25S. Right now, it's anybody's guess as to why the VF-25 is replacing the VF-171. Or why we even have the VF-171 in the first place. Right now, we only have the production reason from the Compendium (Kawamori didn't want the VF-19 because it looked too "hero").

As Shouta has noted, the AiA-IZ's encoder likes to alternate the openings and endings with English and romanji. I prefer AiA-IZ's. I prefer accuracy over speed, and it reads a bit better than Gattai.

We have similar systems with the HMCS or HDMS as well as lots of eye-tracking studies and system (in fact, one that is very similar). Most likely (i.e. VF-1 onwards) have computer-aided targeting for faster acquisition. I'm not sure I would want to track an Itano circus....

It looks like the VF-25 gives a wrap-around imaging (in battroid only) set-up with the infamous front-control panel from fighter mode. Although, I'm gonna need lineart to confirm that. The VF-25 is longer than the 19 by about 4 m IIRC.

Because things have a tendency to change on us in Macross. And I'm not saying you are wrong but if something in there changed, then your efforts were just wasted. But if you want to add it, go ahead.

The dialogue said "It's him.". That's wrong. An easy wrong. Even with my extremely limited Japanese, I heard him clearly say "Kathy?". I thought I also heard other words in other spots as well that were not in the dialogue. There were a few problems with episode 1, but I'll save that for the episode 1 thread. But this has "speed sub" written all over it.

The hospital scene... Ozma recognized Kathy, not Alto.

Gattai uses a container format from Matroska. It's kind of a all-in-one codec. Linky. The funny thing is, although it's used a lot now, development has been discontinued on the container format.

I'm sure they'll find a way to get Lee back into the flight suit. If the season 3 finale was an indication, if they need pilots, he'll be the first in line.

Yes it is Alto. Alto's character description tells us that he comes from a kabuki theater background. And from the OP, one can take a good guess at what his role was.

What about a railgun or linear gun? VFs do generate a large amount of energy. That energy could be used to power a railgun or linear gun. Linear guns seem to be popular in Gundam right now.

A "sharpshooter" or "marksman" usually works with a regular unit and provides long-range support. Snipers usually act independently (normally with an observer/spotter) with a specific objective. The traditional term for "sniper" is "assassin". Mikhail's role is more support which is why I would lean toward "sharpshooter". But these days, "sharpshooter" and "sniper" are used interchangeably.

It might be best to wait for the Macross Chronicle.

Alto's personality isn't that he wants to buck authority (although, you might consider it that), but he wants to be free of restraints. He was born into the kabuki tradition, but he didn't want to do kabuki theater. He wanted to fly higher, but the dome held him back. He wanted to pull off some cool moves, but the performance producers changed the program and wanted a simpler program. Every time he wanted to do his own thing, something held him back. It bothers him a lot apparently.

It only affects those networks listed. MBS, TBS and everybody else not listed, is on normal schedule (that means the 1st airing, on MBS is back to Thursdays @ 25:25).

Of course...Milia is Zentradi. Who knows how well they age.... especially into their 60s or 70s.
