It's called Thrust-Vectoring. Almost all VFs have some form of thrust-vectoring nozzles.

Unless people see them die on-screen, people will still wonder about them. They believe that if their still alive, there's still a story to be told. Some people aren't satisfied until we see them hit the "happily-ever-after"-point. Some people don't want to see their memories ride off into the sunset and they will cling to it and hold onto it for as long as they can. Some people aren't content with the Sopranos.
