Perhaps the lineart we've been seeing for the 1/72 models is done intentionally for the models so that they can build detailed molds. Perhaps those drawings were not meant to be published as "official" lineart. I've notice Bandai doing this more and more lately for the Gunplas where model lineart has been published in magazines like Hobby Japan is exceptionally detailed compared to the animation lineart.

The VF-25 was undergoing testing. It may or may not make it to final mass production. Considering the requirements for the VF-27, I doubt it will make it into full service unless they plan on really dumbing it down. The VF-19 is still the UNAF's (or NUNAF's) main VF. That might not change since this is UNS/NUNS. The VF-22 is still the UNS Spec Ops fighter. The VF-11 had about 15 years of service by M7 and was still going. It probably wasn't replaced by the VF-171 till about 2047/2048. That's a good 17-18 years right there. The VF-1 served the UN Forces from 2008/2009 till 2020. That's almost 12 years right there. The VF-4 had a service lifetime of almost 18 years from 2012 til 2030. The VF-5000 had at least 20+ years on it. Even if it is being used more by local governments, that's still a respectable lifetime.

I'm going with this one. There's also a slight issue. There's the VF-11MAXL and the VF-11MAXL Custom (Mylene's). Now the VF-11MAXL probably is similar to what was done to the F-16XL, an Enhanced Tactical Fighter (ETF). They took the VF-11, gave it new engines and then adapted the frame to withstand the new amount of stress and a delta-wing design.

Actually, now that I think about it, the VF-22 also had it's heat shield become the forward display. For the most part, the displays don't really move into position since the seat rotates. The seat rotates into position and the monitors are already there. Now the forward monitor may need to move out of the way to let the pilot rotate in, but for the most part, the monitors don't really move.

They better be blasting Fire Bomber cuz that's quite a menu....

It's your fan-fic so you can make it whatever you want. It depends on the VF. Most are in the cockpit and some of the monitors (like the forward monitor) slide into place. The VF-0's heat shield cover is the only one that seems to be a large monitor or it's just a projected image, but it's the only one where the heat shield becomes the monitor.

Dunno. The TV series had a severe lack of atmospheric action. I'm guessing the producers want to remedy that in the movie. We don't know what the movie is about right now. The grapevine says it's going to be a DYRL?-style movie.

It's never been mentioned. Not on any official publication to date. In fact, the VF-25/VF-27 entries are the first ones to actually mention the caliber of the head lasers.

The least they could do is hide the hands in jet mode.
