  1. How about we just get back to complaining about the movie.
  2. I don't know if "became an independent entity" fits it right. If we look back on the Otona Anime interview, it doesn't seem like it was the military becoming stronger, but civilian bureaucracy becoming more influential, i.e., the civilian-side of things started to stick their hands into more cookie jars. It's more a game of politics than one unit trying to be more independent.
  3. If you are using an USB hub without power, yeah.
  4. The cheapest DDR3 is only slightly more expensive. Like $5-10 more. True. The speed of the SLI-setup would be the speed of the slowest card. So yes, a 8800GT and 9800GT can be used in a SLI-setup, but you'll be limited by the performance of the 8800GT.
  5. If you go with that AMD combo, you'll probably have to get some new RAM. DDR2 is relatively cheap so I won't worry about it much. Both of those combos have (or support) higher bus rates than your RAM so if you're worried about your MB and CPU slowing you down, why slow it down with slower RAM. Two gigs of DDR2-800 is only around $40-50.
  6. Excellent point. A good card will render video just fine and be able to handle all the textures, but you don't want such a slow CPU that it takes 5 minutes to load all the stuff into memory for the video card to render. myk, there is a questionnaire in the first post of this thread which might help you help us figure out a few things. I think the best thing to do is figure out how much you plan on spending. You have an AMD and an Intel CPU+motherboard combo which is great, but have you thought about RAM? Hard drives? Optical drives? Power supply? You said it's been 5 years since you built your last computer. Are your parts compatible with newer core components?
  7. If you can find this one: http://www.robotech.com/store/viewproduct.php?id=93 Otherwise, http://www.robotech.com/store/viewproduct.php?id=94 http://www.robotech.com/store/viewproduct.php?id=95 http://www.robotech.com/store/viewproduct.php?id=96 Since ADV shut down its operation and everything is currently being redistributed, it may be a while before new discs are made, if they will even be made. I would suggest you put in orders ASAP.
  8. Hey kresphy, tell everyone in China this is going to be Shadow Rising!!!!  Ripping off a rip-off. I can see that happening.... . If there was any chance that it would, I think I will really find myself ROTFLMAO.
  9. Agreed, check out Fry's. You might find a good deal. If you want to build a decent, cheap system, I suggest looking at an AMD-setup. They're cheaper than Intel and you get about as good a bang-for-your-buck. A Core i3-setup will also bring you decent performance for cheap.
  10. Let's NOT do this whole "science as a religion" or "science on society"-thing. Got it? Good. In fact, get back on topic. Like how Protoculture went from a society to a seed the size of my thumbnail which apparently has enough energy to power a 100W lightbulb for a day.
  11. Windows should be hiding modes you cannot display. And if you were able to set your resolution higher than the native resolution of your monitor, that probably means Windows can't detect the native resolution of your monitor. The native resolution for monitors is normally, as you may have guessed, found on product web pages, manuals, or even on the packaging. And while your video card may be able to use resolutions higher than the native resolution of the monitor, they may not be supported by the monitor. It's best to keep in mind that the resolutions supported by the video card are normally higher than what your monitor may support. As they say, always consult your manuals.
  12. I'm starting to feel like "God" from BSG. This is what he must have felt like when after Kobol, then 12 colonies, then New Caprica....
  13. Well, if anybody ever wanted to know what it would be like for a VF to have beam sabers, Bits/Funnels, or Wings of Light pulling off Gurren Lagann actions..... here ya go.
  14. Well, the Chronicle hasn't put out stats for the Ecosystem ships so that one still up in the air. But if it matches the DVD/Blu-ray liner notes, then yeh, that issue of GM DX probably should be questioned. I hate these people. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  15. Well then, you can tell us how good or bad it is. hehehe...
  16. True, but even the other dimensions are inconsistent. Grrrrrr.... Argh.... I stand by my statement. I hate these people.
  17. GM DX says 402m, Chronicle says 472m. I hate these people.
  18. I just realized... It's even funnier since, in 00, they actually put Tiera in a dress.
  19. *giggles like a school girl* He just needs to either snipe or do a John-Woo-dual pistols for me to ROTFLMAO.
  20. I don't recall Kawamori mentioning the events of VF-X 2 as the reason or as a reason for the NUN in that interview. IIRC, it was as sketchley described it, as an evolution from a centralized system to a decentralized system. Also, this whole "demoralization" of the doesn't seem to be. Reading the Chronicle (and the 1/72 RVF-25 manual), the driving issue with lower pilot numbers is costs (time and money). Ghosts are cheaper (1/3 of the cost of producing and maintaining a VF-171, by 2059). Pilots and VFs costs too much money. It costs too much to build the VF-19. The VF-11C made the VF-11 cheaper. It costs time and money to train pilots. They simplify the VFs because they need regular pilots to fly those things. EX-Gear is suppose to reduce the time it takes to train pilots. Etc... Time and money are issues that plague the Macross-universe just like the real world.
  21. Anders tells someone to head back to their base to deal with the Simon-model.
  22. The Sandisk Sansa Clip+ is suppose to be a good flash-memory player. And cheap.
  23. How about keeping this thread under 25 pages for the rest of the year.
  24. Don't thank me, Thank TheLoneWolf.
