  1. We're not doubting that it will come out...at some point. It's just annoying that they list things so frakin' far in advance that it puts people's hopes up. If you want a more current example, Iron Man 2 has been listed on Amazon for a month. Yes, we know it would come out eventually on Blu-ray/DVD, but why list it so early when the disc features and street date were just announced today, July 13th.
  2. http://www.hlj.com/helpcenter/products.html#parts See #5 for how to order parts from HLJ.
  3. I made that point many moons ago before our LAM thread turned into a pile of poo. Anyway you shake it, the LAM will not look like it's cartoon origins. Going from one medium to another doesn't translate well. And Seto's point is valid; they'll just use the story from Robotech anyways.
  4. That's incorrect and very very vague (using the term "intellectual property", as I've mentioned before is extremely vague and should be avoided). The character designs and mecha designs are owned by Big West; the story is not. The story to SDFM (and only SDFM) is owned by Tatsunoko. And as Seto pointed out, the story is exactly original.
  5. Nope. The story is copyrighted by Tatsunoko.
  6. But then they would have been sued by HG for trademark infringement.
  7. I've seen no text that says they are biological sisters in any way. So I would consider it that Nene is referring to Klan as the superior person of their group. Much like in some circles, calling your superior, "aniki"/「兄貴」 out of respect is acceptable.
  8. I think you misunderstood. Their "veto" option won't apply to the script, but more along the production in general, which is something that rarely happens, period. If WB were to violate their contract in some form HG could pull the license from WB/Macguire Ent.. That would be their veto option. Smaller groups have won over larger ones so it's possible. For something like this to happen though, it would require a serious breach-of-contract.
  9. I'm sure, contractually, HG does have some veto power over the LAM. As in, if it strays too far from their copyright, they have the ability to pull the license from WB/Macguire Ent.. Basically, breach-of-contract.
  10. "could" being the keyword. But yes, Roy is right. Amazon has a tendency to add things WAY beyond any announcement of a street date. It's somewhat annoying. In fact, as a recent example, Amazon had listings for The Pacific DVD and Blu-Ray back in May, while the series was still airing on HBO. Yes, it was expected that the series would get a home video release, but there was no MSRP, release date, or disc release info for the set and it was already listed, copy-pasted from the book release.
  11. The oracle octopus is predicting Spain in the final match and Germany on the 3rd-place match.
  12. Well, considering the Master File appears to be using the artwork of Hasegawa and Yamato.... I would say how much of the designs of the VF-19 toy(s) were placed into the Master File...
  13. The movie had a slow nationwide release in Japan. It only opened to a small number of theaters originally and expanded as the months went on. IIRC, it was still expanding back in March 2010. Unlike some other anime movies which had larger releases, this movie had a smaller, more drawn out release as opposed to a wider release.
  14. Robotech: Love, Live, Alive It's animated and it involves Tatsunoko.
  15. It's called "hype". Remember this post? It really shouldn't be any big news. When movie studios get those rights, it normally includes merchandise. Which kind of merchandise depends on the terms of the contract. Which is usually a separate contract. Most of which concerns just items pertaining to the movie. If you are the copyright holder, then yes because you legally own the property. Remember Transformers Animated? Hasbro didn't give Paramount rights to make a cartoon. They gave them rights to make a live action movie and related merchandise (of which they would be one ones making the toys). But as I said, it depends on the terms of the contract. HG probably licensed out the rights to much of that stuff since they have no real capacity to produce it themselves unlike Hasbro.
  16. From what I heard in the vids, it was something Macek thought of that Yune decided to expand on. So Yune is doing most of the leg work but it was originally Macek's idea.
  17. It's no different than what was done with Halo: Legends or Batman: Gotham Knight. Except those were announced closer to their release date.
  18. It's called "marketing". They basically want it to ride on someone else's coattails (gee, doesn't that sound familiar). If they didn't, then their profit margins would be considerably lower. Now, if it did have enough push to do well on its own, it won't need to wait for WB to do something.
  19. Protoculture particles would work much better than where they were trying to get it from. Just think, then we'll have Protoculture swords, Protoculture beam guns, Protoculture beam sabers, Protoculture missiles, Protoculture fields, Protoculture drives, etc... the Protoculture possibilities are endless. At that point, why didn't they just say "Comic-con" in all their answers....But if they're not ready to announce anything, chances of SDCC being somewhat the same as AX2010 are fairly high.
  20. Hold on... big news...big news...big big news...rt.com changed their sc-logo to coming soon.... ...naw, coffee ain't working.
  21. I don't think they were trying to put themselves in the dub-v-sub debate, more like making commentary on dubs in general. While dubs have some inaccuracies due to matching words to lips, they still try to maintain some accuracy to the original dialog, especially with anime released these days. Kramer seems to have leaned toward the argument of why match what the Japanese want and just use your own dialog. Just make it all English. At which point, the thought comes to mind, "Well why not just animate your own damn show if you're gonna go through the trouble of coming up with your own dialog." Look at Power Rangers. Of the few more recent episodes I've seen of compared to their Sentai origins (Whatever they used from Gekirangers, Dekaranger, Hurricanger), Power Rangers have in actually thrown out most of the suit-action, retaining only the mech combat. They re-did their own henshins, their own stunt sequences, on top of their own non-action sequences. That's an example of a current popular franchise which seems to not fit Kramer's idea of a good show. After a certain point, Power Rangers stopped using the Sentai villains and plots so that also puts holes into the idea of keeping the story and throwing out the dialog.
  22. Chuck Norris might take offense to that...*ducks roundhouse kick* Anyways now onto some meat. (My thoughts in bold, italics) BTW, using Youtube's vuvuzela switch works great for drowning out nonsense questions. Part 2: -More memories and Carl nostalgia about the rush job that is Robotech... -more Carl's-vision talk, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz -Kramer-Keep the story, throw out the dialog. He says many companies have been militant on keeping the dubbing the dialog directly from Japanese instead of coming up with new dialog. Says their (the RT) way is better. He also said he's heard some of the Japanese say "How dare you..." Well how about we take RT and make in into a D-rated comedy and see how you feel. If you poured blood, sweat, time, money and your own creative mind making a something, you'd want it to be treated with respect and RETAIN the same or as-close-to-same dialog and not have people mooch it to death. -More zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz questions -"I can't talk about the live-action at this time". -HG use to own an audio-recording studio, which is where they got the cast and crew. -They labored making the dialog match the mouth movements. -Will there be a Carl-successor? Kramer paraphrase-"You can't find a successor to a creative mind like Carl." -Will there ever be any more RT on TV? There gonna re-release the Macross-side of the story again or something along those lines in December. No new material scheduled at this time. -More nostalgia talk.... -More voice-actor praise and yadda yadda yadda... *hits vuvuzela button* -How would Carl save the anime industry today? Wife says Carl would have wanted to go to the Japanese side of the business to do a multi-cultural orignal thing. That doesn't work all the time unfortunately cuz some things are so foreign between cultures that it just doesn't work. Period. Jeez, Danny Choo is at AX this year and he's originally from Britain, who now lives in Japan, and was dumbfounded by some of the local lingo he's been hearing.
  23. 2nd half of the panel is up. I'll listen to it later and post my thoughts.
  24. If it was asked in the first 40 minutes of the panel, then I'm sure it was in there, but I wasn't listening. They said it aired in Vietnam, Laos, and one other place. It was at the beginning of Part 4.
  25. Only half of the panel was uploaded, so there's more. Thoughts so far: -Room was decently packed. There was arm room for sure. And pockets of empty seats. -1st 25-30 minutes was devoted to intros and Carl and Carl's RT documentary. ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... (I skipped most of this) Part 3/4 started the Q&A: -#1 at launch on Hulu and Youtube....Probably because people wanted to know what it was all about and didn't want to spend money for it. Welcome to a recession... -RT:SC has aired in Southeast Asia...Yeah...the poorer parts of Southeast Asia. Probably helps that HG does loads of 3rd-party licensing worldwide... -Spanish fans must be happy for RT:SC. They're getting it on TV soon. -No Southern Cross merchandise coming soon. Macross stuff 1st, Mospeada stuff 2nd. -Expanding RT with some kinda series/idea/gimmick...kinda, sorta, maybe. It was Carl's idea. Blame him if it fails. -RT MMORPG...WB's zone. Wait for them to do something with it. -More Q&A about Carl and self-praise. *More thoughts when the 2nd half of the panel gets uploaded*
