That's only IF it was under-performing. We don't know if it is under-performing. And even then, the bar could be set low on how much profit it makes so any time that ceiling is surpassed, it could be considered a success. For instance, let's say Shadow Chronicles sold X-number of copies and HG expected to sell Y-number of copies, where X>Y (or where X=Y), that would be considered a success. It could also be considered to be doing well if you have a certain percentage that's not being returned. Again, we'll use Shadow Chronicles as an example. If it sold X-number of copies but was expected to sell Y-number of copies (so X<Y) but X is 80% of Y, it could be considered a success because X is the amount you don't have to get back from a distributor to sell on your own. You can sell that remaining 20% over time and not worry about that 80% of Y because it's out there in the market and not in your hands.

Again, HG's revenue is coming more from other sources than just that Macross license. That license is probably only a very very small part of their revenue with most coming from international licensing and real estate.

Iron Man 2 (Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow!)
azrael replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, they're coming in... "Iron Man 2" isn't as much fun as its predecessor, but by the time the smoke clears, it'll do. (Variety) It may be hard for anyone to claim that "Iron Man 2" is nearly as mindblowingly amazing as the first movie was for its time, though it's still better than 95% of the movies based on Marvel Comics characters. (ComingSoon.net) In its place, "Iron Man 2" has substituted noise, confusion, multiple villains, irrelevant stunts and misguided story lines. (Hollywood Reporter) Rourke and Rockwell make satisfying, complementary villains, while Downey Jr. delivers again. Shame this sequel feels inessential, over-busy and a little, well, mechanical. Nothing they can’t put right for Iron Man 3. (Empire) Tomatometer Watch: Will Iron Man 2 Blast Off With Critics? (Rotten Tomatoes.com) BTW, it premiered overseas first before it premieres in the USA. -

The computer and electronics super geek thread

There would probably be less press if the Apple employee's name wasn't released or if we didn't find out he paid money for the phone. -
Unfortunately, SOME people don't know when a joke has exceeded its humor quota.
-
Someone wanna explain why in bloody hell they were testing 2 different classes of weapons here? That "sting bomb" is a room-clearing device. A taser is a crowd control device. You use those thing under different circumstances. That was just one of those WTH-moments.

But EXO, didn't you tell me "Won't it be great to have the camera do a speed-up/normal-speed 360-spin around the entire body. Then pan out to Rick, Roy, Max, and Ben doing the slow walk-of-cool as they walk away from their mechs. And won't it be great if Lisa was the one with the rocket launcher with the don't-f*ck-with-me-badass-b*tch attitude? And then Minmay with her bring-down-the-house dance moves? That alone would make the movie!"

That's probably what he's afraid of.

Bandai isn't waiting. They're just not pursuing it. Bandai Visual USA doesn't exist as a separate entity from Bandai Entertainment (Bandai Visual USA was absorbed into Bandai Entertainment a while back). Bandai Visual Japan (who is working with Shogakukan) is only concerned with the Japanese market. When will BV Japan bring it to Blu-Ray? Dunno. Like many companies, the back catalog isn't a real priority.

As Jacob said, "It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress."
-
Perhaps Jacob finding a successor is his way of proving his point; that people are inherently good. But the problem is that people have to make that choice. Jacob can't do it or he would lose the argument. In any case, the upcoming episode "Across the Sea" (airdate: May 11, 2010) will probably explain this whole argument between Jacob and MIB. And the episode after that, which is right before the series finale, well, I think the title explains it: "What They Died For".
-
Jacob is responsible for getting people killed by bringing them to the island, but Jacob hasn't actually killed anybody. MIB is the one who's actually killed people. So saying Jacob has killed people sounds a bit far fetched.
-
A whole different story. IIRC, Toho Co. Ltd. was the theater distributor for the movie. Shogakukan Productions Co., Ltd. with Bandai Visual are the actual holders of the video distribution.
-
Didn't Ilyana or someone say that MIB can't assume the form of anybody else anymore. He can only assume Locke's or Smokey.

As I've said, part of it is HG (which I won't cover), part of it is people not knowing how it all works. As I've said, many of these panel goers are not lunatic-fringe-fans. They don't read the RT forums, they aren't die-hard Macross fans, and they don't know the legal terminology. I won't call them "imbecilic", just fans with only rudimentary knowledge of things. When you listen to the Q&A sessions, these people don't ask very specific questions. And therefore, get skewed answers. People have to understand what are trademarks and copyrights and who has what. Hell, I spell out what HG has in copyrights here, which is exactly what Tatsunoko has. I even listed the trademarks HG has as well. If people would do the research, read a few more sites than Wikipedia, people would begin to understand some things.

Yeah, that question popped up in a few spots. Costume should have been paying attention to the script but considering his scene was short (mostly him talking) and you don't see him for too long (plus the room is dark), I'll just let it slide.
-
Seems to be a running theme in this season; you let people talk and people suddenly convert.

Mod Mode: I guess you numb nuts need to be told to shut up cuz none of you seem to take a hint. Attack the man's work all you want but seriously, but as a person, leave the dead guy alone. If I hear one more tasteless comment out of any of you, I'm just gonna drop a ban hammer.

I'm just surprise they're taking the joke and actually putting thought into incorporating it. I said it once, and I'll say it again, now they're just insulting Astro Plan.

As I said earlier, our regular procedure is to close these kinds of threads after a while. This being no exception. If you wish to leave condolences to the family you can do so at the following locations: Carl Macek's Facebook page Robotech.com's forum thread Robotech on Facebook
