  1. If you want to pay, I'd recommend Acronis True Image. For free software (and your mileage may vary), I ended up using Cobian Backup.
  2. Unfortunately, I don't have experience with OS X Server either so you'll be entering unfamiliar territory. If you're looking for a UNIX server experience, I would say, building your own Linux or BSD server might be better choice. Unless you plan on running OS X specific apps I'd be inclined to avoid going that route. Also similar with the Mac Mini Server. Unless there is a need to go that route, I would probably avoid going that route. A regular Mac Mini would probably be a better choice if you want to dip your hand into Mac OS. Unlike mikeszekely, I have no qualms about a Mac laptop. Are they overpriced? Of course...but what isn't with any Apple product. When I was making my testing/HTPC box, I could have gone with a Mac Mini, but that would have been a waste of money to me. If you really don't want to waste money, I'd stick with the Mac Mini. If you want to splurge, I'd probably look at the 11" Macbook Air or 13" Macbook Pro.
  3. Wait for it...... The more these fans wanna mooch off someone else's work, the more criticism they should expect.
  4. Business-wise, WD is edging out Seagate. Personal preference...either. You could probably put a bunch of techs in the room and you'll probably get a 50/50 split over the question. I've had both WD and Seagates and I've had at least 1 of each fail on me within the past 5 years.
  5. Whether or not they know HG has no right to use Macross designs is moot. They'll redesign it for a LAM. Why pay to use something when it would be easier to do it yourself and own the rights perpetually. If Michael Bay can take a F-22 and turn it into Starscream, it shouldn't be that hard to do something similar to a VF, considering they're inspired by real fighter jets. Has the LAM been cancelled? And I love to use the analogy... you can't cancel something that hasn't even been loaded at dock. As I mentioned we're on the toes the Thundercats reboot. Voltron is coming back. Robotech has no excuse not to just reboot and make that title their own and stop riding the coattails of 3 1980s productions.
  6. Not that bizarre. The KVM is interpreting the signal as if it were coming from a PS/2 port. If you have 2 USB input plugs leading to an single USB output plug, then it's probably treating the connection like it would if you has a PS/2 keyboard and mouse conected. A PS/2 keyboard and mouse can use a single USB connector.
  7. Gee, they must not have anything better to do... If they're spending time reading internet forums and blogs... is this what they're paid to do? And of all places, here?
  8. They must not have many good ideas if they have the time to read our little forum... Instead of wasting time on side-quels, why not focus that energy on rebooting the franchise and not ride on the coat tails of Macross, Mospeada, or Southern Cross. Make the show unique. But I guess "nostalgia" prevents that from happening....
  9. It's probably the wireless input devices. I know Belkin makes KVMs with USB, but whether they support wireless devices is something I'm not sure of. I do know that they will work with/without video input from the KVM. But my experience is with the server-rack models, not the consumer/home models.
  10. Have you considered a KVM with USB? The KVM may not like wireless input devices or the Mac doesn't like KVMs. My experience with KVMs is somewhat limited to Belkins so I can't recommend other brands.

  12. For goodness sake, the Thundercats reboot premieres in 5 days. If the freakin' Thundercats can do it, why not Robotech, if it's such a inspiring show.
  13. This should add some fuel to the fire: Who Could Have Guessed: 3D Hurts Your Eyes (TechCrunch.com)
  14. Gee...thought that was due to the successful animated series. Not sure how a show about giant robots influenced a show about martial arts and uses a whole bunch of Eastern religion concepts in its plot and story.... Here's a bright idea, why not use all of RT's "influence", "'tech-saviness", and awe-inspiring story and characters and influence a rewrite so it doesn't continually lean on 3 unrelated shows from the 1980s. No more animation discontinuities, explanations of weird tech or story points, etc. Heck, DC Comics just rebooted their entire freakin' universe to make it appeal to new readers. Transformers has done it twice within the past few years with their successful cartoons. Use that awe-inspiring "influence" to influence a freakin' reboot. But then you would need competent people for that...
  15. More concept art posters from CCI: Source: http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2011/07/23/cci-marvel-debuts-posters-of-thor-s-h-i-e-l-d-agents-in-the-avengers/ Mirror: http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/168009-sdcc-two-more-pieces-of-avengers-concept-art And Marvel will probably release the hi-res version tomorrow:
  16. They're concept posters. IIRC, I saw the Mark VI armor on the Captain America-after credits trailer.

  18. Little from column A, little from column B. Robotech Frontier, Robotech 7, Robotech Plus, etc..... we've heard it all before. Don't even get us started on them incorporating other series, like Gundam or Evangelion...
  19. Transformers...1984. Robotech....1985. Frak it... I'm using it.
  20. $569.99 for the new model is not a bad price for a local store pickup. You could drop another hard drive because it has the room in there but you'd need a special connector which you'll probably never find, unless you're in one their production plants... Apple is trying to push its cloud services and downloads over physical media. The irony is, ISPs are pushing data caps and some are starting to scale back home internet service in favor of 4G wireless. And with tiered data speeds, I'm not sure Apple's mostly-download idea is gonna stick, especially with limited data caps and speeds. That's one of my gripes with how they are distributing OS X Lion this week. 3.76GB is a long download for most home users.

  22. In this thread...RT = Rotten Tomatoes.com.
  23. Avengers poster making it's way around CCI.
  24. What do you think is paying for this sidequal? That what this whole "complete collection" is for. They needs more monies to make "quality products" for dem "rabid hordes" of RT fans.
  25. And what shape would that be? Thanks to inflation, I'm sure this franchise is making more than it did in 1985, but then I would have to account for inflation and rework those numbers. So these Battle pods are made of crack or something? Is this Battle pod toy the Tickle-Me-Elmo of our time or something cuz I'm not seeing anything in the news or anything....
