  1. ISC, through technological-Macross-magic, allows the pilot to withstand higher Gs. It is not an interface. EX-Gear is the interface but it also substitutes as a G-resistant chair. The diagrams in the VF-25 Messiah Variable Fighter Master File explain this better than words. Basically, instead of being a rigid, fixed chair, EX-Gear allows the "chair" to be flexible. So instead of the pilot being compressed into the rigid, fixed chair, the "chair" adjusts itself. Think of it as leaning back in a office chair with an adjustable backing.
  2. Except for those VF-17s, 19s, and 22s..... But yes, Vanquish is a race. And in a race where racers can modify their machines, you can expect them to be running something that is not exactly in the specs and making modifications which most people would probably find dangerous, bordering on crazy.
  3. You ever wonder if the New Generation storyline added to that? I mean they worked up "Admiral Hunter" so bad to the point where he's some great legend, you gotta wonder if that also affected the minds of fans. Does the mere mention of "Rick Hunter" make fans scream like school girls just like the characters in New Generation? Thought Steve only works on the website....
  4. Interesting development today...oh wait, "Great Caesar's Ghost!" Laurence Fishburne set for 'Man of Steel'
  5. Checking your motherboard's specs indicate: DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 You may want to check your BIOS settings again to be sure it is properly clocking the RAM if it's only running at 1333.
  6. nhyone does have a point. Having dual hard drives is great, but if you plan on testing server-side and other applications as you mentioned, the computing power is great but you don't necessarily need the dual hard drives, unless you plan on RAID 1. If you plan on eventually using it as a file server once your testing is done, the Core i7 is a fairly expensive file server.
  7. That's why we use "RT:SC", or "RTSC", and not "SC".
  8. The sooner they reboot and use their own ideas, designs, animation, voices, songs, etc... the better.
  9. Remember who we're talking about.....They'd include anything just for more Robotech.
  10. Yeah, I'll have to admit, I wasn't terribly impressed with the design when it appeared last month (entering "Oh dear god, that's fugly."-territory).
  11. That's not a VF-19EF. I'd say more, but that would be a spoiler.
  12. Monthly MOD Warning This is NOT a discussion thread.
  13. Tisk tisk. You need competent people to accomplish that... when they realize they need to reboot, most fans will probably be in wheelchairs..with bed pans...or in the ground. Hold on hold on, lemme break my caps lock key. OMG! OMG! OMG! TONY OLIVER IS IN THIS. RICK HUNTER WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111 ZOMG!!!!! Oh look at that, the caps lock key still works.... Yah. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0031407/
  14. It could be "loose". The drive could be failing. Or the OS is having problems.
  15. I would actually look at LDAP, mail, and that stuff on a Linux/BSD/UNIX-based system as opposed to running it on the Mac OS-flavor of BSD... You probably are too use to the response time of iOS....Although, many apps haven't been updated just yet for Lion (minus the Apple ones), so it might just feel slow for the moment. As I mentioned, the Mac Mini is fine if you want to play with Mac OS. I would recommend upgrading the RAM to at least 4GB. Either through Apple or on your own (I'd recommend on your own if you can). Depends on which version you're looking at. The Mac Minis that just got updated use DDR3 1333 SO-DIMMs. The previous generation of Mac Minis used DDR3 1066 SO-DIMMs. The new models that just came out use Intel Core i5/i7. The previous models used Intel Core 2 Duos.
  16. The 1/72 RVF-25 model kit backs that up indicating that the Ghosts costs are just 1/3 of the VF-171 and that some fleets replaced their main air force with Ghosts due to rising costs.
  17. Actually, comic-book Bane's mask covers his whole face. Like I said, I'll wait before commenting on Bane.
  18. I'll just wait for the 1st trailer before commenting about Bane...
  19. Di-kei-do!!! Waitaminute.....how am I suppose to scream "Power Rider"?????
  20. If you want to pay, I'd recommend Acronis True Image. For free software (and your mileage may vary), I ended up using Cobian Backup.
  21. Unfortunately, I don't have experience with OS X Server either so you'll be entering unfamiliar territory. If you're looking for a UNIX server experience, I would say, building your own Linux or BSD server might be better choice. Unless you plan on running OS X specific apps I'd be inclined to avoid going that route. Also similar with the Mac Mini Server. Unless there is a need to go that route, I would probably avoid going that route. A regular Mac Mini would probably be a better choice if you want to dip your hand into Mac OS. Unlike mikeszekely, I have no qualms about a Mac laptop. Are they overpriced? Of course...but what isn't with any Apple product. When I was making my testing/HTPC box, I could have gone with a Mac Mini, but that would have been a waste of money to me. If you really don't want to waste money, I'd stick with the Mac Mini. If you want to splurge, I'd probably look at the 11" Macbook Air or 13" Macbook Pro.
  22. Wait for it...... The more these fans wanna mooch off someone else's work, the more criticism they should expect.
  23. Business-wise, WD is edging out Seagate. Personal preference...either. You could probably put a bunch of techs in the room and you'll probably get a 50/50 split over the question. I've had both WD and Seagates and I've had at least 1 of each fail on me within the past 5 years.
  24. Whether or not they know HG has no right to use Macross designs is moot. They'll redesign it for a LAM. Why pay to use something when it would be easier to do it yourself and own the rights perpetually. If Michael Bay can take a F-22 and turn it into Starscream, it shouldn't be that hard to do something similar to a VF, considering they're inspired by real fighter jets. Has the LAM been cancelled? And I love to use the analogy... you can't cancel something that hasn't even been loaded at dock. As I mentioned we're on the toes the Thundercats reboot. Voltron is coming back. Robotech has no excuse not to just reboot and make that title their own and stop riding the coattails of 3 1980s productions.
