  1. So you want Robotech? HEY EVERYONE! ☝️ HE WANTS ROBOTECH! ☝️ 🏃‍♂️💨 *quickly runs away*
  2. "I want Macross but without all the Macross-y stuff" "So you want Gundam?" "No. I want Macross. But without the stuff that makes it Macross." "So you want Gundam?" .... 🤦‍♂️ Every time we get a new Macross, this exact conversation comes up. Every. Damn. Time.
  3. MOD WARNING Since some of you didn't get Roy's hint, you get a vacation from the board instead of the thread getting vacation from you kids.
  4. Streaming is not a profitable a business as many studios would have hoped. Disney, like all the other studios, are finding out that it's not enough to have new subscribers coming in, you also have to retain them. And with rising costs, people have had to make cuts. And lets face the facts, streaming subscriptions are luxury cost to us customers. And with rising costs of production, studios have to rein in their spending. As the saying goes, less is more.
  5. FYI, This is a story-based costume. They revealed their primary costumes back in December 2022. They'll be traveling to the Sixties (rockin' the afro 🤙) and the 18th century.
  6. Probably not. Most mini PC makers are leaning more toward the complete package vs the slotted computing unit.
  7. Awww shucks. Intel kills its NUC line, but the tiny PC will live on It's actually interesting to see how much power one could cram into the tiny PC space. At least Minisforum, Beelink and the bigger brands are still putting out units.
  8. No...Spoilers if you haven't watched Rebels.. Yeah, you might want to watch Rebels to get up to speed on this show.
  9. It's best summed up with this quote from this article... If you didn't like Rebels, then this will be a pass for you. I've been happy with most of Fioni's stories, at least most of Clone Wars and Rebels (Bad Batch still has 1 more season so I'll leave that out for now). I skipped Resistance.
  10. Yeah...Our live watch parties (threads) told a different story, especially with Frontier.
  11. It just means you're getting older if you feel alienated by modern culture. I get that feeling every time I have to look up phrases on Urban Dictionary. There are things I did in my youth that people 10-20 years older than me would find alienating at that time just as I find things people 10-20 years younger than me doing stuff that alienates me. You're just going through the same thing and it's a normal part of aging. Take your own advice, "It's never too late to start something new". "It's never too late to start something new".
  12. Welcome to "Gettin' Old". We ALL get there eventually. Anime and any other TV show or movie is made to reflect modern audiences. The anime you watched was made for people like you, at that time. The TV shows you watched were made for people like you, at that time. Shows today are made for audiences of TODAY. And you've grown up/tastes have changed/other gettin' old stuff/etc. "Stuff isn't like it was". Yeah, and neither are you. You can whine, complain, throw hissy fits, etc. about the modern stuff all you want. Or you can accept the fact that maybe you've outgrown it and no longer appeals to people of your age group. I long ago abandoned the idea that I am part of any core audience of most current shows. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it for what it is or what it can offer me NOW. Everyone wants la vie en rose, but as others have said, you have to take off the nostalgia glasses eventually.
  13. They could license it out to another streaming service to gain a little more money back. Who would pick it up? Don't know. Lots of streaming services are eying cutbacks for the next couple of years.
  14. "Redesign" because if you don't, you would owe more money for using someone's copyrighted designs. We've said for a decade+ now, for RT to survive, it needs to come up with it's own designs; it's own IP. Until that day comes...
  15. It's likely based of a treatment (essentially a summary of the film with all the key plots, character descriptions, etc. which is usually the first step in a screenplay, or when pitching to a studio for funding).
  16. Define "sale" for a GPU? That's probably the best call. At this point, avoid the 4060 8GB model. It's just a waste of money at 8GB VRAM.
  17. Armory Crate seems to be a common complaint I recall from the Techtubers. Especially when Windows is the underlying OS. I also wonder if it affects battery life. 1080p @ 120Hz... That's drivin' all those pixels hard...
  18. Showing a cinematic trailer with no gameplay footage for A GAME is about as useful as showing me a title card. In this day and age, game trailers need to show gameplay, not all cinematics. Until then, MEH. I can't even be skeptical because you've literally showed me NOTHING.
  19. The USS Syracuse was a Galaxy-class, not a Ross-class.
  20. HD transfer means capturing the original film in 4K (or 8K, etc). Upscaling means blowing up a version (like the DVD transfer). Upscaling is cheaper and doesn't need significant post-processing to clean up the image, but you are essentially, filling in the image with extra pixels, leading to a softer image. HD transferring needs a lot of post-processing work because now you can make out all the defects from the film, but the tradeoff would be a sharper image vs a softer image. But keep in mind, you would need to see these differences with a magnifying glass with the image blown-up. You would never notice the difference sitting at a normal viewing distance. That's why most people at upscaled. But 98-ish% of people will NEVER be sitting at a distance where they will notice the more softer image of an upscale.
