  1. Again, that question should be pointed to the panel, tonight. He would be the 2nd person to state RTSC did well. If it did well, then why didn't they follow-up? When we have successful movies, immediately, there's talk of a sequel. Not for RTSC, apparently.
  2. Still 15 days left to go. Anything can happen. Maybe even another $10,000 weirdo donor. And nice to know folks on the KS comments page are already looking at us with contempt. It's not our fault we're looking at this with some objectivity.
  3. Prepare for incoming banners and artwork... Spoiler'd for size And when you put them all together More coming...
  4. So they care more for a book publisher than this pilot episode? Under normal circumstances, an art/production art book comes after a show has started because you don't want to waste money in case the show doesn't make it. But they want to do a book, before the show even makes it to production? Will any of that $.5M be used on that book? I'm seeing a priorities issue with this production. I understand you want to give people incentives to donate, but a artbook being done the same time or before the actual show? If you hand out actual production art like cels, OK, I get that. But a book? I seriously hope people in tonight's audience put away the nostalgia goggles and look at this investment seriously. I'm not even looking at this from the "Macross-fanboy-RAGE!!!"-side and I see issues.
  5. I warned you about buying that palette of corn kernels. Since EXO bought all the damn popcorn, we need something to entertain us while we eat. ALL. THAT. POPCORN. *points at palette* Help yourself. Needs flavoring. It is preview-night tonight. Any news?
  6. If by digging deep into our wallets means everyone donating $10,000, then sure. Like everyone has $10,000 lying around doing nothing. Hell, the American Cancer Society is lucky if to get $100 out me.
  7. Apparently, someone has money to blow. If that money is burning a hole in your project, I have a KS-project that one could donate $10,000 to. It's just me sitting in front of a computer researching witty comebacks. Oh heck, why donate via Kickstarter when you can just "donate" that money to me and call it a "gift". It's well below the $14,000 gift limit for 2014 so we don't even have to report it to the IRS.
  8. So they yanked off DYRL?'s SDF-1 main guns, stacked them vertically onto a Salamis-class from MSG or Nelson-class/Drake-class from Gundam SEED, and then slapped on several of OO Gundam-Seven Swords' Buster sword on the back. Tada! Gunship Macross Cannon Artillery cruiser! Sure, let me go borrow it from someone else. Anyone got $35 I can borrow to loan EXO?
  9. Post that on the Kickstarter comments page (or have a donor post it), not here. We already know all about their failed-to-launch projects.
  10. Regardless of what they see as successful, if they had money to fund another 45/60-minute episode, then had boxsets later on, why turn to Kickstarter for funding? Where did that money go all this time? If I was donating money, that would be something I would ask.
  11. Different time period, different designs. And they slowly moved toward the original trilogy's design aesthetics. That's been mentioned almost too many times in the commentary. Looks like an Ralph Mcquarrie X-wing at the same time it looks like a Z-95. Could be an X-Wing MK 2. If there's a time-skip, it's possible.
  12. Yet they were not. Not the best, but decent enough to fund an episode 2. I mention Tom's response to how Shadow Chronicles did back here. They've had boxsets over the years. Where did that money go? These are just some of many questions people should be asking at SDCC.
  13. You know, studios often get less when people pitch ideas to them. Many times, the sales pitch is a summary (<30 pages), maybe a powerpoint slide, some models, and mostly talking. So this KS project is R&D? What happened with Shadow Chronicles? Wasn't that R&D for a brand new series that was made "in-house" and didn't rely on another show to the majority of its content? Wasn't LLA a test for merchandise? The problem is, how many informed people out there? It's probably best to inform them than trying to argue with Macross. Leave Macross out of the picture and point out the problems with how HG has moved this franchise along in the past decade.
  14. What about when you read an interview? Still get that feeling? http://www.newsarama.com/21616-enlist-at-robotech-academy-with-kickstarter-to-bring-original-creator-s-dream-to-life.html Then seek your nearest Robotech DVDs and throw them.
  15. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug and probably what being banked on at SDCC.
  16. As I've mentioned in some form or another, donors are investors. No matter the amount, they should start acting like one. In my 2nd post, which is now immortalized on the 1st post, Tommy & Co. probably talked to networks and they likely said, "Pass." So yeah, if the boss said, "go find your own funding", what does that say about the boss' confidence in this property? (Like before, I'm being rhetorical and folks here really shouldn't be trying to answer me.) In the end, they are folks just like the rest of us who are doing our work and collecting our paycheck. It's the guys on the top, the ones making this sales pitch, that donators should be mindful of. === Imagine if you were a venture capitalist and people were coming to you with ideas about what you should spend your money on. Investors are always asking things like, "What do I get in return?", "What makes your product unqiue?", "Why should I give you money?" Even in most offices, and if you are on a budget, you have to justify to those holding the money why you need to purchase this or that, or why you need to allocate money for expenses, staff, the whole caboodle. And sometimes, down to the dollar. Donors should be asking these hard questions as well. And remember, out of the $500,000-goal they want, they'll only walk away with ~$450,000 after fees. So obviously they don't need exactly $.5M cuz they wouldn't even get it all if they make their exact goal. People should have this thought in mind at SDCC.
  17. It is a beta after all. At least the level progression works properly.
  18. The SDCC schedule is up if people want to look. Looking around shows it to be a lite Thursday. I don't see anything big scheduled.
  19. Yeah, it's on 7/24 @ 7PM. The panel following them is "The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - A Look Under the Shell", which is about a documentary of the same name.
  20. And look at the number of people donating at the <$100 level. Or filtering it down further, the <$50-level. Most people will not even blink donating at that level. Which is why I've said, let's wait until after SDCC. SDCC has a greater audience than AX and has a lot more general entertainment-focused individuals. We will see a significant increase in donations. Which is why I would use SDCC to point out issues with this KS-project to the masses. Like I said, the majority will not read the comments page. Many will just donate some sub-$50 amount and move on. They won't know that HG has been a patent troll to anyone and everyone and have just done the bare minimum to keep the franchise alive. Don't expect them to go digging around. Don't expect them to read.
  21. Which is where the "Sit back and have some popcorn" comes in. We can explain and show people what HG has done on and off screen, but we can't tell people how to spend their money. People donated to the freakin' potato-salad guy. People will donate to this project. The best we can do is educate people on what they are donating to.
  22. Take the argument to PM or the thread gets locked permanently and people get banned. Banking of nostalgia only goes so far. They're probably hoping for Transformers-type response. But yeah, likely the majority of the backers are people who do not know anything and have no interest in what HG has done. They see a news article, say "wow", maybe visit the KS page, maybe donate, and then move on. They won't read the comments, just hit that "Donate"-button. And they're not going to care. As the sayings goes, "Haters gonna hate." Which is why I say offer an opposing viewpoint and do it on neutral ground. Also keep in mind that there are KS and Amazon Payments fees. KS is 5% and Amazon is 3-5%. So if they make it to $.5M, they lose as much as 50,000 to fees.
  23. Yes. Paul Bettany, who is also the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S., will be playing Vision. And yes, that is intentional.
