Sales are evil...too tempting. I went ahead and got the olive drab Tomahawk and the weathered Defender at 40% off, but the Yen/Dollar rate sucks right now. Things have to be at least 20% off to make it the retail price. The Private Warehouse is cool, since they don't send every single item individually, so that way, when the box arrives every 60 days, nobody knows how many items arrived. Yeah, I'm starting to become a hoarder. The last box that arrived a month ago hasn't even been opened, since all of the kits (doubles and triples of the Bandai re-releases) are just going to be "sat on" to sell down the road. "When collections become obsessions." Where have I heard that one before?

REDDSUN: Here's a couple of other questions... How much is the brake setup shown above? Do they make it for a drum conversion on the rear? Due to time constraints and dwindling budget, can the 8 3/4" Borg Warner single spinner internals be swapped out for posi, and still handle the "mild build" 467, instead of laying down $2200.ooUS for a new 9"? "Mild" probably means sub 450hp. It hasn't been dyno'd. Are the ends of your front guards/fenders different lengths from side-to-side, where the eyebrow meets the metal on either side of the bonnet? Mines about 5mm/1/4" shorter on the LH side. When the nosecone goes on, it's sitting about the same distance off of the front of the frame, but lines up with the bonnet edge. The gaps of the doors-to-guards-to-quarters is all within the "2 popsicle thickness" tolerance. When one is used to working in design and spotting 2mm differences from 20ft...it's annoying!

So THIS is what happens in the world when one is not stuck in the garage every night for the past three months, trying to get the Falcon done for a May wedding. What's that big, yellow thing in the sky, cause I'm used to the Mushroom Treatment lately. REDDSUN1: I've been looking on the ebay.com.au site and found an 8qt. oilpan for the 460intoXB conversion, but do you happen to know if the sump would work (by swinging it around), or would I need to get another one for rear-facing high-capacity pickup? How's your XB coming?

Revell also got the license to distribute the TV SDF (in both forms) under the ROBOTECH name back in the mid to late 80's in the US. You can pick up both versions for about $40.ooUS on ebay from time-to-time if you don't want to pay the vintage/original price. They had a black box with red striping/lettering. In the Super Plastic Model Manual, Part One, they took the Storm Attacker and put the cruiser bridge, and arms on it as well as modifying the main gun, and used the cruisers secondary guns to add a lot of detail that the stock Storm Attacker was lacking. Proportions are different between the kits as well.

We finally got to see the "No More Arigato, Mr. Roboto" episode. I love that they showed some of the rare valks like the Chunky Monkey VT and VE. He also mentioned the importance from left to right of his collection as he came in the door, and Macross/Robotech was right there. I paused it to browse, and pretty much have all of the SDF Macross and Mospeada stuff he has except the VT and VE....want. The shrink thing pissed me off as well, because after all, "I'm perfectly sane in my own insanity." I collect robot toys/models to have fun as a hobby, while posting and sharing pics with you guys as fellow fans of the series, sharing in a common interest...and as an investment for later life. I collect robots instead of getting falling-down drunk, shooting up drugs, or going to the Flight Club and stuffing dollar bills in something I can't have. Or, if you can, how many others have too? We watch Hoarders as well, and yes, the storage areas can get crowded (going Dig Dug (haha)), but the similarities stop there. The collection is dusty, but the house isn't trashed. I would have to say that most collectors of our kind are Class One with Class Two hoarder tendencies...far from needing a shrink. Besides, I only have 350-400 Macross toys/models...not 2156, so there's still time.

Two years ago, I ran a "VF1S" personalized plate for a year on my car, then gave it to my buddy in another state for his birthday. A couple of people recognized it. One guy shouted "ROY FOCKER!" as I was pulling into a con, and the other asked/confirmed if it was Robotech-related outside the comic shop...close enough. MACROSS is still taken and SDF1 is not a legal format...bugger.

What are your favorite VFs/YFs/VBs/RVFs?

Roy Focker's VF-1S Strike Valkyrie. "Boxed Awesomeness." I don't think that even the armored Battroid can come close to the combined firepower as the Roy Focker Special. -
HLJ is shipping them out now. Two are in the BIIIG box of all the other Macross re-releases coming. Gonna hide these away for a while. EDIT: Update: HLJ is already at a "Backordered" status on the Phalanx...in only two days. OT: Has anyone ever sold a resin accessory set for each battlepod version? I've only seen the base pod in 1:72.

---WOW!---Just---plain---WOW!--- Please let us know when we can place an order for the pod and fig. These models are on my Bucket List now.

The "white-with-color" schemes were probably done just like the original USS Enterprise model back in the 1960's. It was easier to see on camera against the black space background, and probably quicker to color than a darker, more elaborate scheme. Who knows, the lighting in the hanger might have been damaged, and the valks were actually Max blue...cool scheme either way.

"Lousy Micron! I told you it was MY turn to use the dryer!" Very nice build indeed!

What about painting the super/strike parts the darker grey like the nose stripe/intake covers, since it is supposed to be a "Dark Bird" of sorts?

Dumb question here... The kite is on the right wing. All of the others are on the left and in a different position. Did the cel get flipped during the filming sequence and Yamato went canon to make the toy? The prototype and the production pics above show it backwards. Just curious.

Captions for the pic above... "Well. We were considering updating the drive-thru, but this wasn't where we were going to put it." "Unable to understand and harness the power of her new Ford, Granny will have to go back to driving her Chevy Aveo." "Built Ford tough."

We saw it last night. Seeing the cityscape, we immediately thought Blade Runner. Then... The Core for The Fall, I Robot for the robot sentries, Star Wars Clone Wars for the "Imperial" police invasion force, Minority Report for the Fiat/Chrysler/Dodge maglev chase. The Matrix and Johnny Neumonic came to mind a couple of times when they were in the wastelands. When he had to go back to rescue the girl, I made an Aliens Ripley-saving-Newt comment just as he turned the corner in the corridor with the guns and lights flashing..we both laughed. When they had the pod on the top of the Fall, I was thinking about AI. We sat through the credits to see if there would be any last shot of the Recall logo or him waking up...nothing. The soundtrack was good, and we liked it for the popcorn value and visual effects eye candy, but the original...it was not. "I give good wife." Funny line.

A 1/55 "Jetfire" can be had for around $30-$50 US from time-to-time at some of the cons and shops. They might not have all of the armor or the GU-11, but the toy is better than the Revoltech 3-transformer, which is WAAAAAY too delicate for a youngster. I'm in my 30's, and wanted to throw it in frustration the first time I changed it. "Not a toy" should be printed on the package. It's strickly Battroid, but the GN-Dou valks are pretty decent, and once in a while, available through HLJ for half off. Off the wall idea...the Matchbox Robotech toy line...???

Got my Box-O-Factories a couple of days ago. The big pieces are stamped "Bandai 2012" on the walls and floors. The colors are different from the original, and the "Revell Robotech" release. Instead of two-tone grey, they're blue and grey, and the vehicles are a different green. Decals are a lot crisper now too. The chains and loops are in seperate, colored baggies. Other than a few color differences, it's pretty much the same kit. I have to dig out my old GBP valk to see if they modded the new release, because there's some details that I don't remember. The Tomahawk looks the same.

Sorry to go off-topic...One pic and back on track. Here's the prototype woodland GBP armor paint scheme pic for the Fodder.
