  1. Well it is dude! Most of the time the mere mention of Robotech tends to throw this place into a tizzy. Which is sad, because when this place isn't freaking out about whatever stupidity HG is doing this week (and it usually is stupid. Not always mind you, but quite often!) it generally kicks ass with a lot of good info and discussions. Its just Robotech is Macross World's personal Pet Peeve O Doom. Its Kryptonite, if you will. As someone who does a job involving customer service and public relations I know deep down what Tommy said was not nice. Its also the sort of thing I would LOOOVE to say to the people I deal with. (The customer aint always right. Usually the customer is an asshat.) The Robotech angst here is the reason I keep popping in and out of here over the last 2-3 years or so. It generally gets to a point where I realize its best to go take a break and not start screaming and yelling over it because to do so would be stupid. (I still think I have a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from a certain poster who is no longer among us.. ) So my point is: Stop worrying about HG since it doesn't help matters any and have fun instead. And if they DID do something like pop the 19 on an official cover without any BW ok, get em since they would deserve it. (This would be the point where we all start singing that 70s Candle Coke commercial or something..)
  2. Ehh.. it was silly. I thought Yune's dig at MW was funny. Because it was true. Even other mechahead sites consider this place to be on the lunatic fringe side. Ok, maybe not to "Frothing UC Gundamite" levels, but on the fringe anyhow. And I have to say it aint as bad as a year or so plus ago, but the fact that its STILL going on gives me room to pause....
  3. Bender rules. Who wouldn't want a Bender of their own? Besides, he owns all just for his little song during the Single Female Lawyer show...
  4. The only ZOE game I liked was the GBA game.. And putting the cockpit there makes sense. Its more shielded and protected from enemy fire than most mecha, which make it all nice easy to destroy headshots, or in the main body, which as anyone who has ever fired a gun would know, is going to take a LOT of fire since its the center of mass and MUCH easier to hit. Crotch cockpits would work better. Aiming for it means if you miss you are probably gonna miss hitting the machine entirely unless the thing is moving "downwards" from you, and the legs provide extra cover, increasing pilot survivability. Most likely, the mechs are gonna be destroyed from upper body damage, giving the highly trained pilot a chance to escape the burning wreck and come back to fight another day...
  5. Its like an Arcology. Kinda neat, but makes me glad I live in North America where we have plenty of land, and can at least attempt to afford our own homes. Or in my case help my dad continue to pay for his...
  6. Man.. why couldnt we have gotten that? It would have only cost around 150 US, probably like 120 street! (Figuring the Japanese regular Quadrilogy set they said was running 160, when US was 100, or 70 street...) Aliens is like my favorite movie ever and part of my holy dork trilogy, alongside Transformers and Star Wars. I SOOO woulda bought it...
  7. Got mine at Wal Mart this week for 64 bucks. Im quite happy with it. Sorry, the Takara aint got anything worth another 36 more bucks to it. Some of us aint made of money, and believe in getting a good value. Not to mention I consider 64 bucks a bit high, even if Prime is just shy of a foot tall in robot mode. He makes for a great centerpiece display on top of the digital cable decoder on top of the TV set though. Right now he only has Alternators Smokescreen to look awesome with him, but that should change soon enough.
  8. Hmm.. Srungle (2nd section of Macron 1) had some hero machines without arms IIRC.. Not THE main hero mecha, but there were some chickenwalker types without any noticable arms from what I remember...
  9. Actually, its kind of embarassing how well the 3 shows fit together as it was. All 3 had an alien invasion, 3 form transforming mecha, a heavy amount of music as part of the storyline, and some of the aliens defecting to the good guy side. (Mostly TEH SPAZ CHIKS LOLOL!!)
  10. I got one of these puppies for Christmas. Anyone have some good advice for working on it?
  11. Well, one could always use Toybox DX's teminology and call it chogokin or gokin. However that kinda comes close to breaking my laws of dork english, which requires the removal of almost all Japanese words from any english language sentence when an english one would mean exactly the same thing. But using chogokin would be acceptable since its 1 word, and die cast metal is 3. So for my money, die cast or chogokin is fine and dandy when referring to die cast metal toys and or parts of toys that are Japanese in origin. Toys from outside of that silly little island should probably just be referred to as die cast.
  12. Yeah yeah, im back.. K, now on to business.. I like the idea of a more reasonably priced toy. However PVC and massive removable/lego forming parts? I dunno. As to Yammie stuff selling stateside? I like a lot of the Yammie toy looks, but the price and stability of the toys has always been kinda iffy with me. A cheaper price would sure be welcome. Just take a look at some of the Bandai stuff. Nearly 30 bucks in Japan for MSiA Devil Gundam. Same toy at my local Wal Mart? 8 BUCKS. Don't tell me a prettier box and some panel work save around 2/3rds or so of the price! Transformers Binaltech/Alternators prove the same thing. 50 dollars in Japan. Cut out the diecast and go with a different base color and its 20 bucks. Give me cheap, cheerful, yet made with a high quality. I gotta go wait and see on this new Valk for now.
