I started watching Macross 7 fansubs about 8 years ago. I got so addicted to the show i bought the whole set. now that its on dvd i cant wait to watch it again.
-
Thanks, i think ill get the fx sets.

Ive got a tin box with the Macross logo and a Battroid VF-1J on it. I was told it was to put rice in for kids to take to school with them for lunch.

I want to find the best Macross 7 dvds to buy and i saw on ebay this set of six dvds. Just wondering if anyone knows about it and how good are the subtitles. http://cgi.ebay.com/Macross-7-DVD-Anime-TV...1QQcmdZViewItem

While i dont care about a dubbed version i really hope it will expand the fan base to the casual anime viewer. Maybe if its picked up to be shown on TV the popularity will go up and we will have an inflow of Macross merchandise in the US. Ive always wanted the Macross novels to be translated to english. I dont think it will ever happen though. Heres hoping for the best.

Angelbird pics. Anybody have these?
The White Comet replied to e_jacob77's topic in Movies and TV Series
Why is the Angel Bird Battroid saying "This is my papa"? -
Guess what? The original Macross series was for kids too. But with all the death, female nudity, and sexual situations in Macross 7 how can you say it was meant for kids?

I dont see anything wrong with mylenes VF-11. If a 16 year old girl designed a valkyrie thats what it would look like.

The filler episodes in Macross 7 were pretty good actually. As long as the episodes are entertaining they dont always have to add to the story line. Macross 7 is just the right length to me.

How about people believing that Macross 7 did badly in Japan. I think this is just wishfull thinking on the part of Macross 7 haters. If i remember correctly didnt Macross 7 get an award for Nekki Basara being the best new character? On top of that there were model and toy lines, art books, two manga titles, several albums, plus a movie and ova. Not bad for a TV series that "bombed" right?

I was watching the bonus disc that came with my star wars dvd box set and noticed a wall scroll of Minmay in the background.

How great are the Bandai 1/72 VF-1's?
The White Comet replied to The White Comet's topic in Model kits
Well, if you put it that way i think ill be putting them up for auction really soon. Im not really a nostalgic person. If i was i would still be a robotech fan. But i know where the quality is and its with the 1/48. Besides i still have my Hasegawas Thanks a lot for your help. -
Im in the process of moving to a smaller place right now and i need to make my collection smaller. Ive decided to go the route of ebay for doing this. My dilemma is that i want to get the Yamato 1/48 Armored VF-1J when it comes out but i know its going to be big. To make room im thinking of selling All 5 of my Bandai 1/72 transformable VF-1 model kits. This includes VF-1S Skull, VF-1J Max, VF-1J Millia, VF-1A cannon fodder, and the VF-1D. In my opinion i only need one ultimate transformable version of the VF-1 which will be the 1/48 Armored VF-1J. A model should be non transformable but look really good in the designation that its in like the Hasegawa VF-1's. My question is are the Bandai 1/72 VF-1's really that great that they are worth keeping?

I bought a bunch of these books back when they reprinted them and never got to read them(thank god). I sold them in mint condition on ebay for like 90$ about a year ago. Makes me wish i had bought the two Japanese Macross novels when i saw them in japan for 500 yen each about 3 years ago.

All right, let's settle this once and for all...
The White Comet replied to kensei's topic in Movies and TV Series
For the most part anime fans in Japan are a lot less nostaligic about things than we are. Once something new comes out they forget about whatever they just watched and go on to the new stuff. Whenever I asked a japanese anime fan my age (mid-20's) about macross they didnt know anything about it other than Macross 7 because thats what they grew up watching. -
The Mitsukoshi dept store in EPCOT is an actual Japanese dept store which has teh rights to be there by the disney company. It sells everything from Kimonos and swords to Dragon Ball Z, Gundam, and Totoro stuff. I actually felt like i was back in Japan everytime i went in there. No pavillion in the World Showcase sells any Disney merchandise. This was a cause of complaint by the guests at one point so they built the store Mouse Gears which is the only store in EPCOT to sell Mickey Mouse merchandise. It also just happens to be the 2nd most profitable store in Walt Disney World. Scary i think.

I have a story that you guys may find interesting. Last year i worked for Disney in Orlando,FL. As many of you probably already know, there is a Japan pavillion in EPCOT which has a Mitsukoshi dept store on the first floor. During my time there i got to know the cast members that worked there including the ones that work in the toy dept. So i went to go see them at work one day and i noticed they were selling all the Robotech MPC and those cheap ass mini morphers or whatever. I told them that those toys arent from japan. They had no idea what i was talking about. I went outside and walked over to the small toy stand. They were selling Zoids. So i asked the girl there why arent the zoids toys being sold inside the store? She said that Zoids isnt Japanese and they can only sell actual japanese merchandise in the dept store. It made no sense whatsoever.

DYRL? project ive been thinking about
The White Comet replied to The White Comet's topic in Movies and TV Series
The R2 DVD on a DVD5 is compressed to 67% of the original if you take out the menus and the extras. On a regular TV you can just barely tell its compressed. Since i dont have an HDTV(and dont plan on getting one yet) it really doesnt matter that its compressed. Also, ive seen the movie so many times that the only times i ever watch it again is to show other people and most people dont care about perfect picture quality. I just thought it would be nice not having to lug around my laptop evertime i want to watch dyrl with good subs. -

The White Comet replied to The White Comet's topic in Movies and TV Series
OK maybe this isnt something im capable of. I was hopeing that some one had already made such a file and could clue me into where to find it. The other topic about the computer generated subtitles are close to what i want but i hate watching movies on the computer. Thanks anyway guys. Heres to one day we wont have to go through all this crap for a perfect DYRL? DVD. -
I have the R2 DVD of DYRL and a DVD burner. What i was thinking about doing is somehow getting good subtitles and making them into a subtitle file to burn onto a DVD with the movie. I have no idea how this could be done because im no expert at hacking DVDs. Any ideas?

Yes but do you think they will release them as a set?

Im thinking that yamato 1/48 scale is going the direction of the 1/60 line. I cant find the toy for sale so im guessing that they havent made it yet. Did this toy come out and i just dont know it? If not, will yamato release this toy?
