1. A friend of mine has a great story about how when he was first getting into cars his grandfather told him about a "sports car" he had been saving in a storage unit. To my friends surprise (or disapointment) the car turned out to be a Mustang II Ghia in a lovely shade of brown. 367071 Poor guy. I'm sure he wasn't expecting a (barely) souped-up Pinto. That is like getting a kick in the crotch for a gift.
2. The Echo is bad, but to me nothing compares to the vomit-inducing ugliness of the Mustang II. Gee, thanks Mr. Iacocca.
3. So was the reincarnated Scar the raider that Starbuck gutted to get off the planet? It seemed to allude to the fact that it was...
4. The problem is that some companies sell certain packages on their vehicles and you might not be able to get the specific combination of options that you want. It is a lot different from even ten years ago when you could walk into a dealership and nobody would blink an eye if you ordered a car with every option except AC.
5. See one of America's all time favorite actors... All washed up and unable to pick a decent role for himself in the last 10 years. Harrison Ford in... FIREWALL 366214 HAHAHA! So true. Almost makes me feel sorry for him...almost. He has become completely ridiculous... Callista Flockhart and that stupid earring don't help either.
6. I'm beginning to see what A1 sees in you. 365780 Hey, let's keep this PG-13, love birds. 365784
7. The poor resale on Mustangs is kind of a double-edged sword, since on one hand they suck as invetsments or if you're trying to resell your car but on the other hand you can get a very fast car for relatively little money. 365206 *Nods* The 94-98 GT's are all over the place here, and most can be had for 5K or less. And it has passed the true test of affordability...lots of the local college kids are driving them. (Anyone who has had to pay their way through college knows how much disposable income that leaves you...)
8. I've never understood the almost mythical pedigree that Saleen Mustangs have. Don't get me wrong, the design looks good (more aggressive than stock) but they aren't worth the markup. Most Saleens have only a body kit and very minor mods...along with Saleen's suspension components (sadly the only thing they do get right). Some do come with a positive displacement blower, but still don't make a huge amount of horsepower over stock. Not to mention the fit and finish of Saleen's parts. (Ask any body shop that has had to install a Saleen body kit or take a close look at a Saleen when you are a car show). IMO, there is no excuse for some poor quality parts when you have such a huge markup. (especially when aftermarket companies like Cervini's make much better kits for a lot lower price). Even if I won the lottery, I wouldn't even consider making Steve and Liz that much richer.
9. He sued over Ford using the "GT350" name on a mustang during the mid-eighties...some anniversary mustang. It was settled a few years later, but Shelby wasn't very happy with the Ford brass after that. Amazing how money can soothe hurt feelings.
10. Just found this: AN EXTENSIVE LIST OF ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD THAT'S MORE BORING THAN NASCAR Just thought it was cute. Not trying to piss anybody off. I've taken some decongestant that has me bouncing off the walls so I can't sleep.
11. I just think it is funny how Shelby and Ford are crawling up each other's butts to make a dime when they were slugging it out in court not that many moons ago. Did anybody not see something like this coming with the '05 Stang's retro styling? (not to mention Ford pimping the Bullitt and Mach 1 mustangs in the previous body style) Wonder how much the Blue Oval is paying Shelby to slap his name on the car? Certainly enough to make him forget that he once vowed to never work with Ford again. I wouldn't be suprised if we saw other new Mustangs based on the older cars. They'll milk the retro theme for every dime they can get out of it.
12. Don't you guys already have like two Cobra's and two Lightnings? 364955 We do have two Lightnings (95 & '03), but only one Cobra ('97). The two older vehicles are basically worthless though since the market for 93-98 L's and 96-98 Cobras regularly has mint examples selling for way less than 10K. (And ours are far from mint...I'm more the "drive the wheels off" than "pamper and trailer" type of owner.) I just want a '93 since it was SVT's first Cobra. (And because the IRS didn't hit us as hard this year). ________________________________________ And I couldn't agree more about vehicles being terrible investments. One idiot in town is a perfect example: He bought a '96 Mystic Cobra (the one with the color changing paint) new and kept it garaged. The thing has less than 8,000 miles on the odometer and he can't even sell it for 14K...(it has been up for almost a year...and he was so sure he was going to make money...funny thing is he can't even recoup less than half of the initial price.) Another guy on one of the Mustang Forums has bought all three Cobra R's to keep garaged. (93, 95, 2000) He picked them all up when they were new...and of course paid a premium to get each one. The only one worth more than what he paid is the 93R. Truth is, you can pick up a 95 or 2000R for less than what they sold for new. But he is so certain his "investments" will secure his retirement that he added a Ford GT to the garage so he can look at it too. ...At least he will have some nice cars to sleep in when he looses everything else... Serves them all right! Cars are meant to be driven, not looked at. I think part of the time though, the "it's an investment" tag line is just an excuse to justify a purchase to the significant other.
13. It just bothers me after we were told they could intially guarantee the car for 5K over MSRP. We've done a lot of business with this dealership over the past few years. I think we will go elsewhere for our next purchase. (I understand the feeding frenzy, and wouldn't have been upset if we had been told the truth initially)
14. Just thought I would throw this in the thread: I am looking for a clean, very low mileage 1993 Cobra. Any color (black, red, or teal), and any options (leather, sunroof..). If there is one in your area, please PM me. No high mileage beaters. Also would be interested in a low mileage 03-04 Cobra.
15. Didn't the Shelby GT500 #0001 already sell at a Barrett Jackson auction for $600,000+ ? (googled it...$648.000.00 exactly...at least it is going to benefit a charity. Still no way I'd pay that much for a Mustang) We were initially told we could secure one for less than a $5,000 markup over base from our dealer. Now they say it could be $10,000 or more. For that, they can keep it.
16. I'd rather pull out my own teeth with a rusty pair of vice grips than sit through a Nascar race. That said, it would be great to see Toyota giving the "big three" a run for their money.
17. I don't know how sales were, but they did complete the series. They also offered the complete remastered set again in a big thin-pack box set called the "Protoculture Collection" with all the extras from the original release. I hardly ever see my local stores selling any of the RT DVD's so ADV may have burned themselves with the oversaturation and be unwilling to take another chance. Who knows?
18. Whats the difference between an orange? Wrong! A telephone pole. Because Motorcycles have no doors.
19. That's probably the most exciting thing they've put in a Nissan in the past 10 years. 362217
20. There are much better pictures of this Alternators Grimlock-based custom in the Kitbash Gallery at Transtopia. Here is a pic of the model used in this kitbash: Revell Hummer model Picked it up at HobbyLobby hoping to make a copy of the custom (although I don't really have the time or the talent to do it). This should be a help though for anyone who does. (Revell Model #85-1907)
21. I just really don't understand. M.J. if you dislike the show so very much, why spend so much of your time watching it and then dissecting every episode?
22. Yeah, this'll do just as good. So, what about availability? 358411 BigBadToyStore has it in stock: NECA Terminator Huge figure and it looks great on display.
23. Not really. Although the engine sounds were taken from a real '67 Shelby sporting a 428 cubic inch engine making about 500 horsepower, most of the 11 cars actually used in filming were dressed up regular '67 Mustangs with 289 engines and automatic transmissions (a couple of the ones used for crashes didn't even have engines).
24. YOu are talking the remake right? The original is funny, car chasing and crashing campy gold. I used to watch the original all the time with my dad, though what they do that poor Shelby mustang is a crime. Funny thing is that car still runs. 357984 No, I assure you that I am talking about the original. Although I have to admit the remake is even worse, since the original at least had a great chase with spectacular crashes. But plot and dialogue....if I ever watch it again, it will be on mute. And BTW, the original was a Mach 1, not a Shelby. ....................... Was it ever revealed who owns the trashed Mach 1 from the original? I remember reading in a magazine that the current owner refused to restore it and was keeping it in "post movie" condition.
25. Part of that is because Stepper (black Jazz recolor) was one of the two Targetmasters never released in the U.S., only in Japan (the other was "Artfire", a blue and red Inferno repaint). The TF reissue "Ricochet" is the first time this mold has ever been available here in this paint scheme. .... And Alternators Ricochet looks terrible. Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have those tacky flames, and was a repaint of the Meister mold as it should be.
