  1. And why do I get the sickening feeling Ford just might have been the company to say no to the designers of the Binaltech/Alternator line? Who else is left since it obviously was not GM? I was hoping since Mazda said yes that their parent company would as well. Now I am not so sure anymore. Melissa (who is seeing her hope of a Mustang alternator slip further and further away...)
  2. No, nothing like that. You see Mach Alert/Prowl were Lamborghinis but they were *not* officially licensed products like the vehicles featured in the Alternators line. In other words, Takara/Hasbro never really bothered asking for permission to use the designs. And you don't see the word Lamborghini anywhere on the toys. The only licensed vehicle in the line was RID Sideburn (not Car Bros. Speedbreaker though) ..mainly because someone at Dodge noticed the resemblance and approached Hasbro about putting their name on the product.
  3. I noticed the top of the page mentioned only PS2 and X-Box. Is this title not coming to the Gamecube? I'd like a chance to play it, but I don't want to buy another system just for one game. Can anyone clarify? Is it indeed coming to all the systems or just the two mentioned in the headliner? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Melissa
  4. I'm pretty sure they approached VW to get permission to use their vehicles image's, and were turned down. They were a bit over sensative to their product being used to make some kind of "war machine". Feel free to correct if I'm wrong, or if this has changed since. I've been outta the loop for sometime now. Too busy with new job and family to keep up with all the toys. That's kina ironic considering all of the kubelwagens they produced for Hitler. ...That is exactly why VW is so paranoid now about their how their name and images are used. Still trying to live down those WWII associations... So no VW Bug as Bumblebee, which sucks. But, I think he would look neat as a mini cooper ( even though I think those are absolutely the ugliest damn cars in the world...well, except for that Star Wars Ricer Honda...so okay the second ugliest, but still...it'd fit! )
  5. Let's see if I can attach it directly:
  6. Here you go: Photoshop RX-8 Jazz from Allspark Picture attached below. Now does that look like Jazz or what? And yes, I know the one on Mazda's website is red...but does that really mean anything? What think? Melissa
  7. Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but curiosity got the better of me. Do we have any confirmation yet as to which TF this will be or even if it will indeed be red? (remember seeing a photoshopped white version somewhere and it really would make a nice Jazz...) Any news at all? And do we know if we are going to see any Chevrolet TF Alternators? Makes me wonder if they are the American company that said no. I'm not a Chevy fan, but that would still suck! What think?
  8. Not quite...As far as I know, no one has confirmed that there will be any Alternators based on licensed Chevrolet vehicles. Although there are rumours that Tracks will be a Corvette, but I don't think we have anything offical from Takara or Hasbro. What we do know are confirmed licensing deals: Subaru Damlier Chrysler (Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Mercedes...) Mazda Well, Mazda is owned is by the Ford Motor Company and it appears we are going to see an Alternator Mazda RX-8. Make of that what you will, but I am not giving up on seeing an Alternator Mustang GT just yet...
  9. That has to be crazy canuck!!!To bad the site is down for a while already. I saved some of his images though but they are bitmaps so i can't post eem here coz bmps are not permitted. PM me if you need them. OT here, but does anyone know where Crazy Canuck is these days? His website with those templates were terrific both for reference and to design custom color schemes. And does anyone remember the custom Yamato 1/60 VF-1J and 1S heads that he sold? (1S head was a big improvement on the Yamato one..) Good stuff!! I'd love to have a couple more of those! CC...Where are you?!?
  10. Add me as a "yes" vote for a full set of clear armor. I'd love to have a few sets. They'd make for a nice display as is and would also be terrific fodder for use in creating some unique customs! Hi Chris!, Don't worry...Rohby hasn't forgotten about you or the other people on his list waiting for their JM's. He just had a large amount of orders to fill and he mentioned that the molds also recently needed repairing (which I am certain contributed to the delay). But he did just get to my name on the list so it is coming along...and the end product is well worth the wait! Hope this helps!! Melissa
  11. Yep, I've only had the BT Sideswipe for a few days and the paint is already almost completely gone from where the hood meets the right fender...nasty. Keep in mind this is after only about two complete transformations. I never had this many paint scratches with my Smokescreen. ..This is one where I'll recommend Alternator Sideswipe if you want to play with or transform the toy. BT Lambor is pretty much just for display only.
  12. yep, rumor is Whedon is gonna take over writing New X-Men after Grant Morrison's run is over....should be sweet.... Sounds good. How was the Fray comic mini-series that he did for Dark Horse? I thought about picking it up since I am a big Buffy fan! (ah shut up! ... you people know you are closet Buffy fans! )
  13. He's not the only member of Toybox DX to be upset with the vote. (Remember how upset some of the Toybox DX members were at MW'ers for *stacking* the vote in the 2002 TOTY election in the Yamato 1/48's favor? ) The best response to that and this year's complaint has to be this solution posted by a member of the TFW2005 boards: Of course, let's *not* make the mistake of painting all of the Toybox members with the same brush. I may get infuriated occasionally with some of the superiority of certain members of the boards. But, if it weren't for some of the excellent Rumbles done by members like Drifand and others..I would've missed out on some truly great toys.
  14. Yep...quite a gap! Also, read the article accompanying the vote results: TOTY. Seems like Transfans are getting the blame for shifting the vote so much this year. Sound familiar fellow MW'ers? Check out the pie chart of the voting results break-down HERE
  15. Absolutely beautiful custom!! Now, someone just needs to make a 1/48 Angel Birds custom! Melissa Me no spel gud..sorry! (Angle Birds indeed!)
  16. Valkyrie Exchange has the Binaltech version in stock. Kevin's a great seller with good prices who ships *very* quickly..highly recommended! ..and BTW, Sideswipe really is much better in hand, so it is a purchase you will not regret! (I'm pretty sure the Hasbro Alternators version is not out yet) My favorite thing about this line..truly robots in disguise. It took the best thing about the Car Robots/RID line (realistic alt modes) and improved on it. Mainly, the car parts aren't just kibble and instead become vital parts in the robot mode. (although Sideswipe has more car kibble showing in robot mode than the others shown...but nowhere nearly as bad as the Car bros from RID...those looked too much like humans in suits with car parts hanging off in odd places.... )
  17. Ok, I must be blind because I don't see it?!? Can someone tell me where his weapon does store away? Thanks in advance! I really love this line so far. Got Sideswipe today and I like him better than I thought I would...maybe even more so than Smokescreen. You really have to hold the figure in your hand to appreciate it...not a bit of robot kibble showing in car mode...most impressive! Can't wait to see the rest of this series! Melissa (who can't help hoping for a Ford Mustang Binaltech/Alternator figure)
  18. Jesse definetly has it right....Valkyrie's re-casts are always top-notch works. I am glad to see that you are starting this project up again Ken! I actually need to order a couple of the gerwalk options parts from you. Now I have a question for you....Is there anyway to attach the gunpod in fighter mode? If there is a way, I would not mind buying a couple from you to try even if I have to mod it. And of course they'll look great in Gerwalk mode. Not to mention that I probably need to buy at least one or two boxes for the other kits I bought and will no doubt wind up looking at and not building for who-knows-how-long. Thanks, Melissa (Who has been working on the same stupid B-52 model for about six months now.... )
  19. Thanks for the review Mr. D! Where can one order this book in the states? (Preferably an online store that takes money orders since the cc's are feeling the pain from Christmas....) Melissa
  20. Done! Always meant to sign it, now finally did it! Good luck!! I'd love to see SC merchandise even if it is just a set of Superposeables. Melissa
  21. Don't suppose anyone wants to share who that member is and where one could get the DVD? Um...for research purposes for those of us stuck with dial-up and unable to dl the fan-subs...
  22. Indeed he does! Space balls to be specific... Glad to see I am not the only one who thinks that PJ gets more credit than he deserves. Thank Tolkien for setting up the characters, story, and background so well. That said, I did enjoy the first two movies and I'm looking forward to ROTK. (still wish we would get to see the scouring of the Shire..but I'll live... ) Also, wasn't Jackson's name mentioned at one point in connection with a possible future Godzilla movie? <_< I am wondering if Hollywood's golden boy can hold on to his image when he moves on to other projects? Hack or Genius? I'll wait for his next few movies before I join the hordes worshipping at his feet..
  23. RID had a lamborghini. Was this VW policy made afterwards? Yes and no. VW has always been stingy with how their licenses and the likenesses of their cars have been used. (Still trying to live down those WWII Nazi associations) That said, there was a Lamborghini (Mach Alert/Prowl) toy released as part of the Car Robots/RID toy line. BUT....here is the catch; It was *not* a licensed toy. No one at Takara or Hasbro approached VW officials and asked to make a toy in the likeness of their vehicle. (As a matter of fact, the only licensed vehicle in the entire line is RID Sideburn. Dodge/Daimlier Chrysler saw how much it looked like a real Viper and approached Hasbro to put their their name and symbol on the package) Maybe VW was not aware of the use of their vehicle image in the CR/RID line...or more likely didn't care since their company name appeared nowhere on the toy or package. Why does that all matter? Because Takara/Hasbro has annouced the entire Alternators/Binaltech line will be comprised of licensed vehicles. So, no getting around asking VW's permission this time. And from past experience...chances are they would say no...
  24. Well, I am pretty sure we can rule out all cars made and/or licensed by Volkswagen. That includes: -Bentley -Lamborghini -Audi -Skoda -Seat (and the main Volkswagen brand of course) That is if VW is still being their usual paranoid self when it comes to associating their brand with anything that could be even loosely considered a "war-toy". That still leaves a lot of nice vehicles to license for the Binaltech/Alternators line. Wouldn't mind seeing a Porsche myself. (and no, although it has ties to VW-Audi group it is *not* owned by them..so it should stil be fair game to license) I really want to see a Humvee and a Mustang in the line as well!
  25. I have a question: Does anyone know if there is a bootleg of the Japanese Headmasters series available with at least half-way decent subtitles? What about Car Robots? (the original show..not the craptastic RID version) Any help would be appreciated. I'd love to be able to see these two series for myself! Thanks, Melissa
