Official VB-6 Koenig Monster Order Thread
trueblueeyes replied to ChristopherB's topic in Model kits
Thanks Devin, you rock! ... Just wanted you all to know I spoke with Valkyrie and he agrees with the idea of setting up a F.A.Q. (frequently asked questions) post in this thread. If you'd like, you can post directly to this thread or PM myself or Chris B. if you'd rather that your identity remain secret. I will of course pass on all the questions I currently have received to Ken and we'll update as we know more. Should help answer some of the more common questions. (although don't expect all answers to be set in stone as the molds haven't even been made...in fact he doesn't yet have the kit in hand but that should be solved by Monday at the latest ) Thanks, Melissa -
Actually Ken, Carl, and I all have access to the owner. And Chris is right..the decision is ultimately the owner's. This kit is more complicated than many think with many small and delicate parts plus the concern with the metal landing gears, vacuum formed canopies, screws, and some kotibuya and/or wave option parts that might be needed to complete this kit. I know Carl had a certain re-caster in mind, but I don't know how that stands as Carl is busy with his move and neither the owner nor I have heard from him. That said, if someone would like to PM with the contact info for this new re-caster, I will be more than happy to pass the info on to the owner... since he is the one who will ultimately make the decision. I should also point out that our own very talented MW member Rhoby is interested in possibly re-casting the VF-4 as well. So I would say we are getting there and thanks to you all for your interest. Just be a patient a little while longer...it will be worth it since it seems we will soon have two very nice kits available! Melissa

Meh, the VF-22S is nice enough I suppose. But if we get another "Milia Red" paint scheme I'd prefer it be on a perfect transformation VF-17 from Yamato! (Can't forget Diamond Force too!) Not like that is going to happen though...Damn you Bandai!

I'm afraid Valkyrie is right. Check the thread out here: Koenig Monster Box Art Contest. Hopefully we'll start getting submissions before I'm forced to start drawing stick figures! Any suggestions to get this contest off the ground are welcome! Melissa And FWIW, I believe Valkyrie indicated he didn't just simply want to do scans and copy the original artwork. (to distinguish the re-cast and prevent scalping on e-bay and other sites) So someone *please* help out with suggestions or submissions.

Official VB-6 Koenig Monster Order Thread
trueblueeyes replied to ChristopherB's topic in Model kits
Just a quick FYI for those who want more that one kit (which includes myself): After speaking with Valkyrie, it seems that he *might* have to limit the initial order to one kit per person. Please note that might is the operative word here. He doesn't yet have the original in his hands and I am sure he will update when he knows more. Just wanted people to be aware that most likely only one kit per person in the initial order will be available to make sure everyone that wants one, gets one. I would imagine more would be available later, but I won't speak for Valkyrie. That said, he is the only one who can really answer how long these will be available and any payment questions. I wouldn't suggest bombarding him with questions though since I am sure he will be very busy. Perhaps you can submit your questions by posting to this thread (or you can PM myself or Chris B if you have a question and wish to remain anonymous) and maybe we can have a FAQ with answers straight from Ken himself. Remember, he has to look at the kit before many can be answered....and since he doesn't have it in hand, the molds are of course not yet made. Also, he will be taking the payments since this is his project now...so any inquiries related to that will be best left to him. We'll try to get you answers, but please be patient since there is a lot we don't yet know. But I would like to give a round of thanks to our anonymous benefactor, Valkyrie for taking on the project, Devin for agreeing to do decals, Chris B for starting this thread and keeping track of orders, and all of you for your support! You guys make this community great! .... One more thing though: The contest for Koenig Monster box art submissions has been pinned in the fan works section of MW. The contributions so far: zero Any ideas how to generate more interest in the contest? All help will be much appreciated! Thanks, Melissa -
Saw this e-bay auction mentioned on another forum and thought I would post a link to it in this thread: Imaginary Foreign Leader Endorsement Please refrain from any political discussion as I don't want this whole thread locked. Whatever you own thoughts on the matter, you have to admit it is quite funny!

Er...what's wrong with this statement: ....sorry Chowser, I'm joking. Maybe it is just too early in the morning but I got a huge laugh from that one! ..... And I've never really had a problem with justifying my collection. My husband is very understanding and supportive of both my hobbies (my race car and my Macross collection). And usually the reaction I get from most guys about my Macross collection is the same reaction I get at the drag strip with my Mustang...one of "That is cool!". Strange, but true. Melissa

Thanks Jesse, You said it better than I ever could have. I wouldn't sell my Catseye but I would be glad to lend it for re-casting *if* it could be done without damaging the model. My Catseye came with one it's tiny tailfins already broken off. They are *very* fragile kits. Do some research before you paint all of us Catseye owners with the same brush next time. I find it offensive that you would suggest most of us model buyers are only trying to "protect an investment". Right...and that is why several of us were willing to locate and pay over a thousand dollars for an IHP Koenig Monster just to have it available to re-cast. I personally intend to build every model in my collection. I don't own them to just hoard them away. And I will say this...yes there are people that buy models just to keep them in storage with the idea of never building them. The joy to them is in the chase and completing a collection. But guess what? Even those people are willing and in fact have loaned out kits to be re-casted for others. Yes, there are scalpers out there. I simply won't deny that. I just think that they make up a much smaller percentage of the model community than you imply. From what I've encounted recently, it seems to me that the majority of people in our particular community are more than willing to help their fellow modelers. .... And look, I am not trying to bust your chops so I truly hope you don't take this as a personal attack. I understand how things could have looked from your point of view. I just wanted to point out a few facts and my own opinion . I think you do great work on your models and I love seeing your completed projects. For what it's worth, I hope you find a Catseye at a reasonable price and complete it to share with us all. ...you're sure to do a better job than I since I will probably get to mine in about five years or so (I've been working on the same 1/72 B-52 model for six months now.... )

For Macross: Probably the eight hundred I spent on a MIB Bandai VE-1 Elintseeker. .... I don't even want to think about how much I've spent on my other hobby. (my 93 Mustang) Latest purchase: $3,500.00 for an ATI Procharger.... Melissa

Official Transformers Alternators and more thread.

Is it just me or does Dead End have Sunstreaker's head? I wonder if it was going to be Sunstreaker but they didn't want to have 2 yellow cars in the same wave? What do you think the chances are that we will see Sunstreaker later? -
What are we talking about though: An all original kit or a re-cast of Tanmen's Catseye? Just curious. I love my catseye but I think it would be a very difficult kit to re-cast. Of course if anybody could do, I suppose they could. Although if I must be honest I'd really prefer that something like the VF-5000 or some other obscure Macross mecha be made into a kit. But that's just me and might be influenced by my already owning the catseye!

I assume you are talking about the 1/100 scale VB-6 Koenig Monster Variable Kit featured in this thread: Koenig Monster? If yes, then the three pictures are the three modes of this fully transformable monster first introduced in the video game VF-X2. The kit pictured is the original IHP resin kit and is indeed the one that is soon to be re-casted and made available for sale. If interested in buying one, please check out the pinned thread at the top of this section and add your name to the list. Nope! The re-cast hasn't been completed yet so those pics of the original are the only ones you will see for now! In short, yes the three pictures *are* of the Koenig monster kit in its different modes and is the one listed for sale in the pinned thread. Hope that helps! Yours is no worse than mine when I'm typing after being awake for over twelve hours...and english is my native language! Seriously, hope that answers your questions. If not, please feel free to PM me. Melissa

Official VB-6 Koenig Monster Order Thread
trueblueeyes replied to ChristopherB's topic in Model kits
Valkyrie should have the kit in hand next week and will inform me of the screw sizes needed. Rob (Fulcy) believes he may know of a good source for the screws. If so, I'll be able to provide those for the kits to keep Valkyrie's expenses and builder's frustrations down. So add all the screws needed for the kit to the list! ...And thanks again to everyone for making this project happen. I just posted an interest but without all the MW members support and the willingness of one very generous owner... this would never have come together. My 29th birthday is next Monday and I honestly couldn't think of a better present than having this kit soon to be available. Thanks to you all! Melissa -

While I don't discourage anyone from posting to the thread, please be aware that we do not yet have a committed re-caster for the VF-4G kit. Ken will be busy with the VB-6 so he obviously can't do it right now...and I'm not sure if our other re-caster will do it yet. So it might be better to wait until we have more definite news, a timeline, and a price before pinning an order thread. I will talk to the owner tomorrow and I promise to update when we have more news. I want this kit as bad as everyone else but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Thanks, Melissa -

I've started a contest to find the winning design for the artwork to be featured on the box of the VB-6 Koenig Monster Re-Casts. The prize will be a brand new copy of the Transformers Genesis art book. Please check the post out or submit art by going here: Koenig Monster Box Art Contest All contributions are welcome and appreciated. Our own "Valkyrie" will be the final judge and I'll PM him so that he can add any guidelines for the artwork that he chooses. Thanks, Melissa -

Would it be possible to also get this thread from the fan works section pinned: Koenig Monster Box Art Contest It is the contest to decide the box art for the Koenig Monster re-casts. Thanks, Melissa -
Please help us design box art for our VB-6 Koenig Monster Re-Cast kit! This project came about because of a generous owner who was willing to loan a rare and expensive kit to be re-casted so that others could get a copy of the model they have always wanted. It goes with saying that the owner in addition to being a very nice guy is also a big Macross fan. That is why I have borrowed Mr. Carl Hoff's words: "For the fans, by the fans." I think it describes this project more eloquently than anything else I have heard or can say. To keep this a fully fan involved project, I'd like to have a contest where people submit their designs for the box art that will be featured on the final 1/100 VB-6 Koenig Monster Kit re-cast. First, the prize: A new copy of the Transformers Genesis art book shipped to the winner. I won't be judging the contest myself. That will be left to the re-caster (MW's own Valkyrie). That said, I'll bring this thread to his attention and let him set the guidelines he feels fit the project best. I hope many of our talented MW members choose to participate and I wish all of you luck! Thanks in advance for taking the time to participate. Some additional info about the kit (Which is an 1/100 scale IHP VB-6 Koenig Monster...a kit based on the fully variable destroid monster first featured in VF- X2) can be found in the original thread: VB-6 Koenig Monster with some info also being available in the order thread: Monster Orders If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me! Thanks, Melissa

When the kit is available, I will take two of course. But Valkyrie is right...we don't have anyone to re-cast this kit as of yet. I haven't talked to the owner but there is a possibility that our other anonymous re-caster can do this kit while Ken does the monster. No promises yet though. I'll see what I find out when I call the owner tomorrow. But as of right this moment, the VB-6 re-cast is a definite go while the VF-4G is TBD. We'll get it, just not right now. So please don't get too impatient! I promise updates as we get them though. Thanks, Melissa

METAL GEAR SOLID THE TWIN SNAKES Promotion Movie
trueblueeyes replied to Gunbuster's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I am wondering what the opinions are now that MGS: The Twin Snakes is out for Gamecube? Is it worth a purchase? Please tell me what you think if you have played the game! Lots to buy and I don't want to waste money on a bad game. Thanks, Melissa -
Just an idea. But what does everyone think about running a contest to design the box cover art for the re-cast? I can find something here to donate as a prize (I find myself opening closets slowly for fear of being crushed under a ton of models and toys anyway). I can't promise a huge prize but I am sure I can find something new and suitable. What think? If you approve, let me know. We do need a judge though as I don't feel I'm the best judge of artwork (I know what I like but I don't enough about it to adequately judge the presentation. ) If you all approve maybe someone can start a thread and let the folks in the Fan Works section know about the contest. (which if we go forward might be a better place to start the thread). Let me get your ideas though before I start any contest. Good idea or bad?

Just let me know what screws you need, and I can get them for this project! As soon as I find out the sizes, I'll let you know. Thanks for the help Rob!

Rolling Thunder series from Antartic Press,
trueblueeyes replied to 1st Border Red Devil's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Don't be silly! Everyone knows it is really an old G.I. Joe toy! Sheesh, you kids remember nothing do you?!? ............ Kidding aside, I actually wouldn't mind reading these myself. Not a huge RT fan anymore but I have a new respect for SC after seeing it in the original form on DVD. And since we are unlikely to see any new material, I'll guess I will have to take more any way I can get it and sorry but I don't fancy the version seen in the new comics....so maybe these older ones are worth looking up. Thanks for the info! And a question for BRD and others who might know: Is there anywhere to get a listing of art books and magazines that were devoted to SC? I have the TIA: SC book and wouldn't mind having more material... Thanks, Melissa -
I agree that he definetly deserves a free re-cast of his kit. I'd actually like him to have the first one (although that isn't really up to me). I just wish there was more of a way to say thanks. I wonder if we could have some sort of thanks on the main page...although I don't want to cause Shawn, Graham, or MW any problems because of the re-cast so these are just random thoughts. Something to think about at least...

I'd be glad to cover the printing costs if it helps keep costs down. I think Carl has a really great idea here. Why don't all you graphic art geniuses start designing and let's come up with something really memorable! ... I had a talk with hubby tonight and thought I would mention one more way I would like to help. The owner is being kind enough to loan an original kit ...and both Carl and Gene are offering to help with mold costs. I haven't really done anything (but had a stroke of luck with what started as a "fishing thread"...lol) . So here is what I propose: If we do include screws with the VB-6 Koenig Monster kit, I am pretty sure I can cover the cost of them (no matter which re-caster we choose). Should help keep costs down a little. Just something to consider. ... I'd also like to thank Carl for bringing up something that has been on my mind: Namely, what can we do to honor and thank the original owner for the loan of his kit? Suggestions would be welcome because I feel we do need to do something. What think all? You should already have an idea of how nice the owner is by his loaning a valuable and rare kit for re-casting but here is another tidbit: He doesn't even want to be re-imbursed for his shipping expenses for the original kit! (of course, that doesn't mean I'm not sending him a money order tomorrow anyway! ) So really whatever else we can do to thank him we really do need to! Thanks, Melissa
