Custom VF-1E kits (sth. like single seat ve-1)
IScustom replied to IScustom's topic in The Workshop!
Thanks for the support from you guys! The biggest problem I have faced recently is that Shapeways alwasys misses a couple of parts. The solution is: 1) after getting your order, please refer 11 pictures I uploaded to the VF-1E sale thread here to check the completeness, 2) kindly let me know what parts you miss (Do hope it will not happen to you ) 3) I will then pass your more high-resolution pictures and you can then forward to shapeways for a reprinting of the missing parts. They do process this very fast (within a day normally) Cheers, IS -

I recieved a couple message on a couple of parts are missing in their pack. For these cases, kindly share these information of your order with me: order date order amount (how many sets) material (white strong flexible, or WSF polished) order number Also, if you dont mind, please let me have your name and your email (and shipping address). Then I will contact shapeways tonight and forward the email to you. Please do a double check and fully confirm with me a clear list on what items you miss. Sorry again for the trouble caused. Cheers, IS -

I think some of your guys may already have your order at hand. I just upload several pictures at the top post of the VF-1E Sale Thread. Please check whether your order is complete. If not, kindly let me the item you miss so I can help to contact Shapeways to raise complaints and ship the missed ones to you. I will upload a more complete instruction manual in a couple of days. Thanks for your patience. IS -
Now their aim is 13.52% complete. Very cool project!

Details on legs are really amazing. But there is no leg joints right? That is what I figure out from the above two pictures.

Agreed. For the purpose of 3D printing tiny parts for replacement, Makerbot is not the choice for sure. I saw some printed parts in person and its resolution is not sufficient. I personally think every penny is worthy for 3D printing machine. The HP (or other brands) which costs 20K (or maybe I miss a zero) and uses powder as the raw material is really providing a much much better result. I have two VF-1E kits at hand and am quite sure that the 3D printers used by Shapeways can provide around 0.2-0.3mm resoultion and I can hardly find layer lines.

Thank you for all sharing the helpful information. I personally do not suggest to do that. I was once did airbrush painting for a model airplane in a closed lab. Maybe I am too sensitive to the smell, and it took about 2-3 weeks to let the smell go. In this period, I felt dizzy each time I entered the lab. Doing the painting In an open area is still the best way to health.

Thank you and noted. The VF-1R head is 100% ready now. I will send it for 3D printing within 2 weeks and demonstrate the real thing. If everything is as good as I expect, I will release the batch in the sale forum. I will let you know at the same time.

Mar 17 2012 log: Hi All, I will be more free from next week. Here is a big update of the 1/48 lovely kit. It has been sent to Shapeways for printing. Besides 1/48 scale, 1/60, 1/72, or even 1/24 and 1/144 are available for selection. If you are interested, kindly PM me. This time I will not make it public in Shapeways for grab. OK, pictures here FYI ************************************************ Jan 29 2012 log: Dear All, Just check my laptop and found this WIP project. I have touched it for a while since THOR is having a ready one, but it seems his lancer thread has not been updated for a while. So I may think about relive my Lancer at least I can finally have a 1/48 one. This lancer project will strictly fix to 1/48 line only. And after it is ready, I just want to release it with a limited run. Just wonder anyone here is also interested to have a copy? If so, kindly PM me. Like my VF-1E kit, I will minimize the cost for you. Cheers, IS

IScustom replied to IScustom's topic in The Workshop!
Thank you!! Finally it would be two pieces that need to be assembled together. My current focus is on 1/48 and may consider 1/60 if 1/48 runs good -
