Not much. The warp pylons are attached to a surface large enough to grip onto and use as a fulcrum, and it's really just a matter of applying enough downward pressure to snap the few plastic rods that hold the engineering hull together. No big deal.

Absolutely not. Mine wouldn't budge, even after ripping apart the secondary hull... Given the dish is glued to the upper part of the secondary hull, the best I could do was mix a similar duck-egg blue color and paint the rest of the interior surface of the dish to match the glued portion along the upper edge. I must say, it looks better as a deflector dish than it did as a window.

Yes, but it's got such a lovely turquoise window in place of the navigational deflector... I just love how clearly you can see the warp core in there, holding the secondary hull together.

His work is definitely improving, but those are going to be much bigger (and more expensive) than his "oversized" Grub... ...and the Gamo doesn't appear to have any articulation whatsoever.

That would be a valid interpretation... That's an entirely different (but equally valid) interpretation. Unfortunately, his text is misleadingly vague -- and his images are no less confusing -- so further clarification is required either way.

Best start over from scratch on that one. There's more wrong than right with it. I would imagine there are just as many collectors out there who would be happy with (or even prefer) "Rick Hunter" nomenclature as there are fans that would insist on "Hikaru Ichijo..." ...just not on this site.- 2451 replies

It says it's only 14cm tall. That can't be right, can it? ¥16,500 for a 1:144th scale Mobile Suit?- 6025 replies

Outside of vintage model kits, yeah... but either way, they're too small for HMR (which is generally closer to 1:84th scale).

I buy any super-deformed Valkyrie I find... I'm proud of every Roy I own that sqidd doesn't. Banpresto's 1999 VF-1S Fokker Special is pictured here with the DX Chogokin, in a feeble attempt to steer the thread back on-topic.

There's an inconsistency with pronunciation that's beginning to bug me. Despite both hailing from New Zealand, Michelle Ang pronounces her character's name as "Oh-mee-gah," whereas Dee Bradley Baker calls her "Om-egg-ah." Since their dialogue is presumably recorded separately, the cast is likely unaware of the discrepancy, meaning the voice director's at fault.

Ouch, I sure hope that situation doesn't last long. Yikes! I still can't believe they did that to the largest toy retailer in the world.

It didn't bother you before...? Are you that guy who keeps buying Super7's deliberately bad "ReAction" figure lines? I mean, somebody must be buying that retro crap, 'cause they keep making it...

I appreciate you being open to constructive criticism, because there is an issue I noticed that bears mentioning. It's a problem inherent to the medium, particularly when adapting hand-drawn artwork, but 3D models have too many perfectly straight lines, too many perfectly flat surfaces, too much perfect geometry evident. Tatsunoko was particularly known for alien mecha designs that looked organic -- grown, rather than constructed -- and Southern Cross is a prominent example: While your models show a tremendous amount of time and effort, I think the individual shapes need more refinement to achieve that lumpy, botanical look. In other words, your math is showing.

While I admire your utopian ideals, that's not how capitalism actually works... Japan Post, for example, is only 57% government-owned.

Oh sure, they sold all right... just not as good as the Valkyries or Regults, much less anything under the Evangelion or Gundam umbrellas. And given the razor-thin margins on Macross products in general, Destroids obviously aren't a priority for Bandai.
-
It's not a question of effort; the prototype's been around for years now. It's a question of profit. With so many more popular items in Bandai's pipeline, allocating the factory resources (not to mention the tooling costs) for a minor mech from a 40 year-old show represents a significant financial risk, especially when you factor in the sales performance of the previous Destroids in the line...

With resin kits, you'll be requiring significantly more cleanup work than with injection-molded parts on sprues. You're going to need many different grits of sandpaper, as well as hobby knives, saws, and files. I'd also advise using a rotary power tool like a Dremel, and a pin vice with a variety of fine drill bits for accurately-sized holes. Brass rods of different thicknesses are ideal for providing structure and reinforcing connections between large parts. There are a vast array of YouTube videos illustrating basic modeling techniques for a wide variety of projects. I recommend you do some online research before tackling a Moscato Hobby kit.
