You've already seen my upgraded figures: ...and here's what the double-jointed elbow I've modeled will look like when assembled: Two figures and two elbows will cost $20, including airmail shipping worldwide.     Yes, of course. Zentraedi mecha use sensors and cameras, with big screens in front of the pilots. The only transparent canopies are on the Matchbox toys. 🙄

    That's precisely where I started. ☺️ After a little trimming, resizing, and proportional adjustment, I'm now adding the oblong shapes to the sides to match my earlier sets. I can print out completed Spartas elbows for anybody who needs 'em.

    Even then, it's a hard sell. Robotech and Kickstarter have consistently proven to be a disastrous combination in the past. 🤕

    Nah, just encourage the customer to cut it down to the appropriate shape, as I did. ☺️ I found the fixed-pose hands that came with my Master Grade MG-09 Dom were the closest match to the Spartas, both in size and aesthetics. Unless you have some moral compunctions against it, I'd just make molds of those and apply whatever minor modifications you deemed appropriate. The annual modeling exhibition is happening downtown this weekend, and the Tanku-Robo kits will be making their Japanese debut there. After that, I'll take the time to photograph the models properly. 😎 As to the elbows, as you correctly surmised, I was not going to stick a chunk of rubber in there and call it a day... 🙄 Instead, I decided an entirely different set of modeling skills was called for. To preserve the proper oval shape I cut the curved surface off your parts... ...and glued them onto my own. A Dremel was required to hollow out enough space for the upper and lower segments to fit into: I also utilized the typical brass rods that are indispensable in holding Moscato kits together: One end goes deep into the upper hinge of the elbow, and the other fits into the ball-jointed shoulder piece. Once painted up, I think the elbow is an improvement both functionally and aesthetically. 😇

    Those sneaky Ammonite bastards. Not only did they steal Shinji Aramaki's Mospeada/Legioss toe design, they flipped it over to hide their crime! 😠 I've drawn, built, and played with so many Alphas and Cyclones over the years that the shape of the foot is deeply ingrained in my subconscious. Any Mospeada fan would've surely made the same mistake. 😅 In that case, I'm happy to suggest a few more improvements: These parts (stock parts on the left, modified on the right), that hang down over the hips in robot mode, were both too large and entirely the wrong shape... They should form overlapping triangles in vehicle mode. Also, since the forearms are a completely different shape than in robot mode, I had to cut them down considerably. These modifications make the vehicle modes much more accurate. 👍

    I also had to remove a chunk of plastic from the bottom so the whole Battle Sniper foot would sit flat: Nah, knees are unaffected. 😇

    That was certainly the impression I got from reactions to The Acolyte (even in this forum), and I think social media has been feeding that kind of "toxic fandom." Frankly, I had no interest in Star Wars by that point, so I never bothered with it... and the first trailer for Skeleton Crew compels me even less. It's obviously not intended for me, so I see no point in criticizing any further. I hope those that do bother to watch it actually enjoy it, although that seems doubtful.

    I didn't get the impression from the first trailer than she was cybernetically-enhanced or disabled... It looked to me like she wears that thing over her eyes by choice. 🤨

    Cap' may want an apology for what I've done to his parts: ...and perhaps I owe him one, for completely disregarding his clearly-illustrated intentions for these parts. His configuration just doesn't match the animation, much less the line art: ...which is why I've made these modifications. Of course, I know he'll forgive me because our goal remains the same: fidelity to the source material. 😇

    Now we're getting somewhere! 👍 Twenty-eight years ago, Playmates did produce a single wave of action figures from the "prime" timeline, at a reliably-accurate 1:12th scale (discounting Riker and Worf, which were too small). Several of these characters actually interacted with one of the obscure characters from Nacelle's upcoming line -- two, in fact, if you include alternate timelines -- albeit in significantly different sets of uniforms... 😒 Nonetheless, we've gotten slightly closer to justifying Nacelle's boneheaded decision to produce grossly incompatible 1:12 figures, when they should've matched DST's 1:10th scale (giving all but Tuvix existing figures to interact with). 🙄

    I don't understand how you can continue to make such demonstrably false statements. The Hiya Toys "Exquisite Super" Star Trek figures (from the 2009 movie) claim to be 1:12, so if that turns out to be true (and Nacelle is equally accurate with their 1:12 line), they will be able to be displayed together... although it's only speculation at this point, since neither company has released their figures yet. Playmates Toys, however, produced a few 1:18 figures based on the 2009 Star Trek movie (and many 1:8 "Collector Series" dolls back in the '90s), but the vast majority of their product line is at 1:14 scale (including the eight figures they released in 2022). Every Star Trek figure Diamond Select Toys produced is at 1:10 scale. Nothing DST produced is anywhere near to scale with anything Playmates ever produced, nor will either scale with the figures Nacelle has announced... ...and I can't figure out why you're trying to claim otherwise. 🤨

    I'm glad you brought this up, 'cause I see Americans throwing around expressions like "six-inch scale" or "seven-inch scale" quite a bit, which strikes me as ignorant (on the part of collectors) and irresponsible (on the part of manufacturers). Exactly what scale are 6" to 7" figures intended to be?

    The problem is as already stated: They'll never get around to making anybody from the actual bridge crews, 'cause this line will fail right out of the gate. 🤕 At a scale incompatible with any existing Star Trek figures, no collector is just going to buy "that guy from that one episode." They've already attempted it, no doubt, but major retailers aren't going to bite. Nobody with any business sense would possibly think it's a good idea. 🙄

    Dear Mr. Volk-Weiss, As a life-long Star Trek fan and action figure collector, I am the proud owner of hundreds of Star Trek figures. I have collected the vast majority of the Diamond Select Toys line, as well as Galoob, Mego, Hiya Toys, and every Star Trek figure Playmates Toys ever made (in both the Prime and Kelvin lines). Hell, I even bought those two Discovery figures they produced! Suffice it to say, I represent the precise customer Nacelle is targeting. I was very impressed with the lineup you announced for your inaugural wave of action figures, displaying a thorough knowledge of the existing market by focusing on memorable secondary characters that never received figures before. If you were to produce these at 1:18 scale, they would complement the Mego, Galoob, Playmates, or Hiya Toys characters released at that scale, and would allow for affordable vehicles and playsets as well. If you were to produce these at 1:14 scale instead, they’d complement the largest number of existing figures in Playmates’ Star Trek line (both vintage and contemporary releases). However, if you chose the more detailed 1:10 scale, your line would complement the wide variety of high-quality Star Trek figures DST produced. There are several existing markets to tap into; hell, even 1:6 collections include high-quality Star Trek figures you could produce characters for. How could you go wrong? I now see you’ve answered this very question, by announcing your intention to sell figures at 1:12 scale. 🙄 Are you hoping to entice collectors with obscure Star Trek characters they can display with their Marvel Legends figures? Are you hoping Tuvix or Weyoun will appeal to Mezco, Indiana Jones, or WWF fans? Or are you expecting Black Series collectors won’t know the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek? 🤨 Regardless of your intentions, you obviously have no idea what you’re doing… which seems entirely in keeping with Paramount+ and the keepers of the franchise as a whole. 😒 Thanks for wasting our time.
