Kitz Concept Toy Thread 2.0
tekering replied to Stampeed Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
BBTS is still using this image: ...and while I took issue with the proportions and some of the details of that prototype... ...it's vastly superior to what we're now seeing. ๐- 2451 replies

Note to Kitz Concept: Fabric does not scale. ๐ It's time to rethink that strategy. ๐ค- 2451 replies

Making some of the lesser known vehicles from SDFM
tekering replied to SpacePirateNeko's topic in Model kits
This has always been my favorite image of the Destroid Tomahawk in Macross: The mayor's limousine, known as a "Red Imperial 99," is driven by Lynn Kaifun in ep.31. It's the crux of a dramatic and memorable scene between Minmay and Hikaru. It's a very stylish, futuristic luxury automobile. @captain america is currently developing a 1:48 Tomahawk as a resin kit, and a 1:48 Red Imperial 99 would complement it very well, I should think. -
Cost of materials, manufacturing and labor have resulted in MSRPs twice what they used to be, and -- since the cost-cutting RE:100 line has been discontinued -- the market has shrunk to us die-hards willing to pay exorbitant prices for Gundam Fix Figuration, Metal Build, and model kits at 1:100 scale. Unfortunately, the retail standard is now 1:144, 'cause that's all the average consumer can afford any more. ๐ค

It was not "good," merely less reprehensible than previous seasons... or indeed, most anything produced under Kurtzman's auspices. ๐ค

"Non-scale" is an industry-standard abbreviation that means "We're not concerned with accuracy, we're not interested in consistency, and we're perplexed by arithmetic." ๐

There's no school like the oldskool! Given ARII literally painted over the line art, I'd say that's the best reference to work from.

I assumed this was another series of Japanese-animated shorts, like the first season... It turns out these aren't Japanese, and are therefore best watched in English instead.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2

Micro Galaxy Squadron, eh? Apart from the Falcon, those look pretty good. Being Target exclusives, we're unlikely to see them distributed outside of North America. ๐ -

The only one? I thought Saru was a quintessentially Star Trek character... In fact, he acted more like Spock than Spock did in Discovery. ๐

I know you're being facetious, but that's actually an important concept in Japanese sci-fi... What made Robotech stand out among shows like Transformers, Robotix, M.A.S.K. etc. was a story element that American cartoons lacked: the ability to empathize with the antagonist, establishing the possibility of peaceful coexistence. Once communication was achieved, mutual understanding led to a cease of hostilities. We see this with the Gamilas in Yamato, with the Zentraedi in Macross, and with the Invid in Mospeada (and even intended for Southern Cross, where the Zor would've been revealed to be simply humans displaced in time).

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures

That's The Dark Knight Rises armory. It's quite different from the armory seen in The Dark Knight (as are the figures). -

Oh, the paint app's are awful, no question about that... but I don't think it looks anything like what you'd see in animation. ๐คจ Nor does fabric clothing, for that matter. ๐- 2451 replies

Not in grey, it doesn't. ๐ Is that the color they're going for in The Flash movie? A grey Batwing, to match Michael Keaton's hair? ๐
