Well, there are obviously some materials that can't be replicated... like dilithium. Or latinum.

Got most of the Black Panther figures now... There are none. Unlike most BBI "Elite Force" toys, the Tomcat didn't come with figures. -
Well-worth it, if you have any modeling skills at all. Lookin' fine, Cap'n.

I use A/C all the time, windows are usually kept closed, and I spend very little time around my displays... and with a regular influx of new stuff, displays are updated often enough that dust isn't a significant problem. Plus, those ships are easily accessible for dusting. The 1:18 Tomcat that hangs above them, however... This one can only be accessed with a ladder, and hasn't been dusted in several years. -

After Bandai's long-awaited Star Destroyer was announced -- at a disappointingly small 1:5000 scale -- I decided to get the Zvezda 1:2700 kit (distributed in the West by Revell) instead: It scales much better with the rest of the fleet. Assembly was easy, but wiring it for fiber-optics is gonna be a pain...! -

Yeah, that's where I got mine. Vintage Macross kits aren't great, but they're plentiful; I often buy 'em just for the decals. Panel-lining and decals are fine, but weathering means abandoning the toy aesthetic entirely... and if I weather one, I've gotta weather them all. -

Geez, we're really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. It's been 30 years since Matchbox, guys... "Slightly better than what we had in the '80s" just isn't gonna cut it. And why is she so much taller than Rick...?

I've been following it. So far, it's been pretty harmless and irreverent, mostly because it's a self-contained environment with a small number of characters; and BB-8 is the only regular character to influence the Star Wars universe beyond the limited setting. Unlike Rebels, which focused on The Force and eventually involved the Emperor himself, Resistance has been pretty generic sci-fi stuff. It also demonstrates Disney's typical play-it-safe approach, so it's not likely to piss off the fandom... if it manages to make any impact at all.

Oh man, I'd forgotten how plain the Glaug looks without decals. Awesome toy, though. One of the crown jewels of the HMR line. Good score, kkx. -
Sure, but the VF-1 stealth is larger and cooler, as is Yamato's low-vis grey. And they're both 1:48, to scale with the DX Chogokin. If it's a 1:60 VE-1 or a 1:48 stealth VF-1, I think the choice is clear. Plus, I can get you one here in Japan for much less than they go for online.

Congratulations on your first custom, Rogueload. The neck should be blue as well, though... A matte finish won't avoid chipping, especially when applied over a smooth plastic surface. You should hit every raised edge with sandpaper to roughen it up, especially where it's likely to contact another painted surface: Repainting a transformable toy can be a daunting task!

You mean Jetfire?

Really?! Batman and Robin. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Blade: Trinity. Catwoman. Elektra. The Fantastic Four films. The Ghost Rider films. Green Lantern. Howard the Duck. Jonah Hex. Spawn. The Spirit. Steel. Supergirl. Superman III. Superman IV: The Quest For Peace. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films. Sure, Apocalypse didn't compare to Days of Future Past or Logan, but do you really think it was as bad as any of the above? Hell, it wasn't even the worst of the X-Men films...

I can't believe you guys are still bending over backwards trying to fit Discovery into established Star Trek continuity. Just because it's made some minor cosmetic alterations in its second season doesn't solve the inherent inconsistencies in the premise. "Spore drive" technology has never existed in the franchise before, either in the past or -- more importantly -- in the future. The series is still full of never-before-seen alien species, and the few we do know still look substantially different than previous depictions. And the main character is still Spock's adopted human sister, which I can't even. Thus, I still maintain this whole series is an alternate universe, and recommend you regard it as such. The sooner you embrace that, the easier it will be to enjoy it on its own terms.

Is this ever going to see the light of day? It was test-screened over a year ago...! Maybe, like The New Mutants, they'll just keep bumping the release date further and further into the future, until the studio heads can finally wash their hands of it and declare it Disney's problem... It sounds like a disaster.

It's up to Jim, really. If Cameron wants a sequel, he could just about bankroll it himself.

Having just bought another Bayverse Megs (Model Wizard's "Metal Rendsora" version of The Last Knight Megatron), I'm not keen on ordering yet another smallish (and overpriced) Leader-class figure... After now having replaced Lockdown, Blackout, Grimlock, Prime, and Megatron with larger, more accurate third-party versions -- at increasingly low prices -- I've finally decided it's not worth ordering the official Leaders at all. I've always resented the "Eh, I'll just wait for the inevitable KO" crowd, but I'm beginning to see their point... I mean, Rendsora retails for HALF the price of that ugly little Leader.- 16946 replies
