Best of all, the set of all four (plus shipping) cost me less than they retailed for 35 years ago! -

Awesome find on Yahoo! Japan auctions: Animedia "Idol Photo Packs" from the mid-eighties. They feature these little booklets with unexpected tidbits of information (like the girls' measurements!)... ...and some original Mikimoto illustrations I'd never seen before! I put it closer to 5-inch scale... Shipping to Japan cost me more than the value of the toy! -

Wrong Prime. This is the original Timelines one: Note the shape of the crack... and the ears. -
Except they scaled it down to match the SDF-1, of course. Still, good catch there.

I thought that SDF-2 nonsense had been struck from canon years ago. There's nothing in the animation to support it, of course; in fact, prior to reading the comics or novels, I'd simply assumed the couple times "SDF-2" came up in dialogue (clearly referencing the SDF-1 onscreen) were merely typos in the recording scripts the director didn't catch. Not that it matters either way, of course. Robotech has been dead since Shadow Chronicles sunk it.

If I were customizing 1:48s, the first thing I'd do was replace those bony hands!

Depends on what you consider affordable... The Aoshima retailed for less than $200. It's still my favorite... ...and it separates, of course.

Nothing new there. Bandai's been overdoing the tampo since the DX YF-19.

Very clean work. The decals are fantastic. -
I finally acquired the HD remastering of Otaku no Video. We all know the show is full of loving tributes to Macross, but I never noticed the Mospeada reference before: Now, if we could only get Scramble Wars an HD remaster as well...

Looks like a bunch of firecrackers ready to be launched into the sky. "Too late! Independence Day was last week, fool!"

I didn't even make it through Canto Bight. By the time the Supremacy had gotten sliced in half by "weaponized lightspeed," I figured Rian Johnson was just trolling the audience.

As originally conceived, Bryan Fuller had mandated that no ships would have round nacelles, so I think it actually turned out to be more TOS-style than he'd intended. Frankly, I'd be happy to see them abandon Discovery altogether ("never spoken of again," as the finale states), and go ahead with the Enterprise crew using the existing sets and uniforms... ...just as teased in the closing scenes of the series. Alas, they'd already blown their budget and failed to generate a reasonable return on investment... so it's up to Patrick Stewart to save the franchise now!

Interesting how, while Disney remakes all their animated films in live-action, they remake Star Wars with animation...

Gorgeous work as always, Lolicon... good enough for visual effects photography, even, were it not for that exposed screw head on the bottom. There's gotta be something you could do about that.

They've clearly sold well for Dorkside, seeing as they're the only game in town... I wonder why other retailers haven't put them up for pre-order?

I guess I deserve that one. I read the book as a teenager, but before I'd seen the 6-episode OAV series, Verhoeven's film, the straight-to-video sequels, the Roughnecks TV series, or Shinji Aramaki's CGI films.... and after all that, not much of Henlein's novel remains in my memory. I certainly don't remember the Bugs having ships and troops...! Well, several scholars would disagree with you about that... Having never seen the previous films or the original TV series, however, I have no knowledge whatsoever of Charlie's Angels.

You did a nice job with that! Does the kit come with waterslide decals as well, or just stickers?
