Bored on a Saturday and inspired by KiriK, my wife and I happened by a Tap Plastics today, so I bought a little acrylic stand and put together an index of the SDF/DYRL valks in my case... images from the Mac Mech Manual:

@Benson13: Ikea Dioder lights... they're great because you can string them all together and run them off of one main switch. All you have to do is route the wiring towards one of the back corners of your case and you're set. @Jasonc: By far the hardest valks to come by in my case... the place I've seen them more frequently than anywhere else has been on Japanese auction sites that you can bid on through fromjapan.co.jp. Even then, they only pop up very rarely and usually start at 28000 yen, so it's a battle trying to grab them. Good luck bro, hope you land a set.

Flightpose stands all the way. Every time I see the pricing for Yamato's launch arm stands, it makes me cringe.

1/60 VF-1 Accessory Parts from Yamato displayed at Wonder Fest
ultraman zoffy replied to Graham's topic in Toys
F*ck it... if they would've gotten on the ball and kept replacements openly available to folks stateside, it wouldn't have forced collectors' hands to come up with a solution. Count my signature on the list if we end up needing to sign a petition to free you if the man comes looking. -

I'm a bit surprised that it's not more widely known that you've changed the game on Yamato shoulder issues. -

HK-Collectibles is solid... I'd recommend them for pre-orders. -
Haha... thanks KiriK. I've seen your collection posts and thought it was cool that I wasn't the only Detolf combiner around. I've actually been meaning to cut the tops and bases down on mine like you did to close the gap, but been too lazy. The display bases I use are a combination of acrylic display boxes that I buy from Michael's (the arts and crafts store) and acrylic risers I buy from ebay from a seller called Lasercreations. These all work really well and are on the cheap side of things. Advice for Michael's: keep an eye out for their weekly flyers and sales. They tend to put their acrylic boxes on sale 40% off every other week or so.

My 1/60 V2 collection... not a crazy completist by any means, my only intention was to get all the Hikaru valks (DYRL VF-1A is on it's way if Angolz ever gets my damn order out... lol), the M&M Super VF-1J's, and all the 2-Seater valks. Outside of these, I've got my Mospeada/New Generation stuff (minus a blue Tread at the moment), a VF-0S, 1/100 Hi Metal SS VF-1S, and my 1/48 Super/Strike Stealth VF-1J (only 1/48 I care to own). After my Hikaru DYRL and Cavalier VF-1A's arrive, it'll be the end of a pretty expensive and drama riddled run for me as far as collecting the V2's go, and I'll finally be able to breath a sigh of relief and contentment. Now I can start experimenting with my hot glue gun to create my own "missile effects" for the GBP armor, because f*ck paying for that Yamato exclusive set at collector prices! Thanks to all the MWorld folks that helped me assemble this bunch.

1/60 VF-1 Accessory Parts from Yamato displayed at Wonder Fest

They should go ahead and just tout these things as "No Option" parts since you basically have no option but to rebuy a valk you likely already own in order to get them. -

Are these parts going to be standard with every new release and reissue now? The only thing I pre-ordered is the VF-1A Cavalier, and it would be lame if it didn't come with the "option" parts while still costing the same as the reissues... -
Sorry, guess the sarcasm in my post was missed... I basically meant that I also like both, and I find it hilariously pointless that some dude up in here is arguing with the air about one being better than the other.
-
So bummed... I wandered onto this thread and realized I'm not allowed to like both. So so bummed....

I'm pretty sure that's a 1/48....

++++1 Aside from seeing Max and Milia again, Macross 7 was mostly terrible. It was like watching the Transformers movies and thinking how cool they'd have been if it weren't for Shia Lebouf and the actors playing his parents toxifying every scene they were in. Removing Basara and taking the whole singing angle back 10 or 12 notches would've done wonders. Alas, to each their own... lol

I think most fans probably "expected" Yamato to release these 3 first, but since most fans already own these valks, I don't think it was these 3 valks that everyone necessarily "wanted" Yamato to re-release first. The cool thing is that they also made the Cavalier available in this first wave of re-releases, so that was nice of them.
-
+1... I don't think Yamato choose wisely on any of these except possibly the VF-1D. 1S and Hikaru 1J are probably going to sit since most fans likely already have these. As far as the option parts go, I'm a bit more on the "meh" side on these since (for now) it looks like they won't be released separately. Forcing folks to re-buy valks they already have for some seats and plugs is not a very thoughtful/considerate decision towards the fanbase, in my opinion, especially when the valks themselves haven't had any revisions. But whatever.

Development = probably still trying to figure out the transformable part.

Hikaru VF-1A possibly... but then again, I have this internal programming thing against buying same colored valks with only a different head type differentiating them. lol

Prometheus - on Blu-Ray and DVD Oct. 9, 2012

Probably seeing things since I just got back from jogging, but I keep staring at Noomi Rapace's space suit and the shoulder armor pad and lines on the arm of the smaller space jockey, and wondering if that's her mutated... crazy, I know. lol -
Just arrived, courtesy of Hutch... they seriously need to reissue these because they are flat out gorgeous.

From the look of the trailer... looks like whatever they find on board that ship starts morphing humans into xenomorphs. Hmm. -
That's what I paid... $200 for a valk with super parts is definitely reasonable seeing as how the sets you can still find for sale at various stores (Hikaru super VF-1J, Super TV Roy VF-1S, etc.) go for about that much. Going back to Archer's original post though, and yeah, I've seen Elintseekers on sale more often than I've seen MM VF-1J's... If super/strike reissues do occur, I suspect they'll be around or over $200 shipped seeing as how the announced reissues are all at $150 shipped already.

Hey MW customizers! Any advice or best practice tips on repainting the blue portions of a DYRL Max VF-1A to the red Hikaru color scheme? Just looking for knowledge on if/how I'd need to remove the blue from the valk's plastic, types of paint recommended, masking off stuff, etc. Much appreciated since it'd be my first toy repaint ever.
