  1. Thanks Nightmare... I try to keep my toys from looking like they're about to form Macross Voltron.
  2. Gerwalk is really nice for displays if you don't want to deal with the hips, especially since you can angle the rear up almost vertical to give the 171 a smaller "footprint" in your display case.
  3. The 27 looks like the evolutionary future design of the SV-51... I love the 51, so I'd be all over a renewal 27 if it ever drops. Plus the fact that Brera consistently makes Alto look like a b*tch with his 27. =)
  4. I've had a gear door fly off when trying to deal with the hips... it just doesn't seem right having those bars flopping around, but like Chrono pointed out, pushing them in but then having to deal with the arthritic hip joint is no bueno.
  5. Holy crap... well, the right leg on mine is slightly jacked up now due to the leg twist issue, not to mention the knee cover now has a slightly bent, gnarled up tip. The twist mechanism locked up, and I had to use pliers to hold the leg in place while trying to free the swivel up, which required twisting the lower leg so hard the plastic started separating a bit. Even with collapsing the leg first, the lock or whatever is in there functions inconsistently, and may freeze up on you. It now only allows me to twist the lower leg prior to locking the hip in place when going back to fighter mode, not after. Weird and annoying. So far, this has been my only issue with this valk, but it was a nasty, scary one. My valk is now marred and its got me a little salty on the insanely tight and complex joint designs they used on it. Oh well...
  6. Yeah... I'm pretty much transforming my 171 based upon a "path of least resistance" approach. Some of these hinges are just... man.
  7. Battroid is hot. Happy happy purchase... I'll give it a couple of days in this mode before attempting to go back to fighter.
  8. +1... it's crazy thinking that the complaints and whining on this board about not getting a preorder in, shipping issues, and the like are coming from working adults. But at the same time, I think that's pretty much par for the course on every toy related forum I've seen... lol
  9. Yeeeeaaaah boy... opened my Q-Rau's thighs and legs, tightened up the hip and ankle joints with some clear tape and earthquake putty, and the floppiness is history. The toy is now tons more enjoyable since the joints can keep the upper body in check now. =^)
  10. Keeping up on Kurisama's work inspired me to pick up a Q-Rau... and I now know what everyone is talking about in regards to flopiness with this toy. Has anyone had any experience accessing the hip joints to tighten them up enough to keep the upper body from flopping around? I'm planning to get in on all the shapeway parts Kurisama is making, but I'd hate to throw them onto this toy without getting the hips properly tightened. Appreciate any and all advice, folks.
  11. I would think this makes the most sense, as opposed to the conspiracy vibe that Bandai is some evil corporation that hates American fans. Frontier has never officially been released or aired in the U.S., right? So it stands that they wouldn't expect there to be much of a market out here.
  12. Bored at work and looking at the photos again, I'm realizing that scratching the black paint around the cockpit areas on the 25 and 29's during transformation is one of my biggest issues with these toys, so the all black front end on this scheme will no doubt be a nightmare. Get your black touchup kit ready for this valk.
  13. Yellow and purple making this valk look like a Lakers' fan.
  14. Made them myself from some cut acrylic sheets and rods... just find a plastic shop in your area and give them the dimensions you have in mind. Tons cheaper than buying ready formed acrylic risers.
  15. Only two more slots to go for the 25G and RVF... not digging having to pop the 171's hand covers off, so I leave those chilling in the box and just tuck the hands in nice and good. The wing pins... without even moving the wings, they manage to loosen enough for me to be able to reach around and push them in a bit. I'll probably just thicken them a bit with clear polish or stick a piece of earthquake putty in the pin holes to keep them in check.
  16. "I'd rather it be there than in some random bear's possession." Fixed.
  17. I was referring more to guy above that posted like he was happy they were dropping packages on his front doorstep without signatures. I'm with you on USPS folks being lazy and not bothering... usually though, if you ever get a chance to speak with the delivery person and let them know your preferences, they're usually cool with it.
  18. Funny, but I'm betting if USPS left a package on one of your doorsteps and someone rolled up and stole it, you'd be pretty pissed. There's a reason they take it back to the office if no one is around to receive the package... now, if someone IS home and they don't even give the doorbell a ring to check, complain away. But as much as I don't enjoy going to the post office, I'd rather it be there than in some random thief's possession.
