1. it would only get better if the deck guns fired
2. is this true of the f-22 radar suite? http://electronicaviation.com/sections/news/Military/560 F-22 and JSF Radar Can Fry Enemy Sensors discuss | subscribe | printable version Posted on 6-5-2005 at 06:18 PM Posted By Michael -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The radar mounted on the F/A-22 Raptor and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) can be used to fry electronic parts of ground-based radars and disable airborne cruise missiles, program officials for the planes acknowledge. U.S. Air Force officials and contractors have longed bragged about the active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, citing its ability to track multiple targets, map terrain and protect planes from attack. And there have been hints of offensive capability, like a brief mention of “high power electronic attack†on one of the JSF’s glossy marketing brochures. But contractors say they have not publicly talked about the capability — until now. “It could cause actual physical damage to a system … providing it’s on the X-band,†a common frequency for military radars, said Wayne Wilson, the director of fighter business development for Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems. The radars — the AN/APG-77 for the Raptor and the more advanced AN/APG-81 intended for the JSF — emit electromagnetic emissions that could be used to damage or disrupt guidance components in cruise missiles, Wilson said. Other sources said the radar also can help deflect air-to-air missiles. It’s been a given that pilots could use the radar to track the missiles, or other aircraft, in order to attack them with their own air-to-air weapons. But, military analysts say, it’s the offensive possibilities that make the sensor-turned-weapon a much more powerful tool. They say the Air Force could fly a “wall†of Raptors or JSFs through an area to knock out enemy radars, sweeping a battle zone clean of many threats to aircraft and ground forces. The revelation comes as Air Force officials work to convince Pentagon officials to allow them to buy more of the stealthy, supersonic Raptors. Service officials want more than 400 of the jets, but Pentagon officials decided to cap the program at about 180.
3. as per your request the X-50A http://www.boeing.com/news/frontiers/archi.../may/ts_pw.html it seems the x plans go x-51 so far and stops with no x-49 yet and i was wrong about the make up of hover its more of a harrier-mv-22 type approach. i think if the military were to axe the jsf and make a piloted version of the X-50a it would be plenty suitable for the Marines
4. any news on the v-22 osprey? is the military waiting to see devlopment of the technology of the x-50a aircraft. helo copter blade to wing project this seems less problematic then the tilt rotor
5. starfleet command 3 was a quite buggy game so i ask "did you install the patches for it?"
6. i am a Baker. i work alone at night listening to my radio to either audio books, music or conspiricy radio shows
7. Well, it's worked for us since the dawn of the "fighter' concept... I don't see why it should end now. 360339 yess but our aviation history dictates the new technology will make us relearn the basics. i.e. the F-4 and no guns. so going by that we will learn that stealth isnt all that
8. f-18e/fs arent exactly like previous hornets. the airframe themselves are diverse. i personally think we should have kept the tomcat 21 in development. but that is the over bloated politicians for you. and keep in mind that as i am posting this my father currently works on the final assembly of the e/f line here in st louis
9. Naval ATF anyone? 358240 if it is unrealistic to Navalize the f-15 the f-22 has no chance. it would take as long or longer to get one of these two planes to be carrier ready. then it wouild be to just design a new navy fighter from scratch.
10. i would like to see urban camo paint job on the armor with a low viz valk
11. i think some one that does not have much of an outside life andhas a spiffy website should dictate if they are admin. but as stated earlier it is all up to shawn
12. another thing to consider is people spend alot of time out side of macross world. and some tend to have websites. i am saying this as these websites maintence and updates will indicate how much the individual will spend updating content for macross world. i dont know about mechamechanic but i know agent one has a blog.
13. Man, I remember that competition around 1990 (read about it way back in 88') and how I wanted the YF-23 Black Widow to win so bad. The YF-23 looked kick-ass and still does. Too bad the NAVY never got interested in it toreplace the Tomcat. 353237 i think the people responsible for selecting new aircraft dont take stuff like superior or easier to manufacture in account when selecting a new airframe to replace the old. they tend to disreguard anything that does not look like a conventional craft. or some thing that does not serve their intrests. the yf-23 is an example of a nonconventional looking air craft and the boeing jsf is another good example.
14. contrails do obscure the sky and block out the sun thus affects the climate(mininscule) but it does affect it. bout the only thing i can think of speaking of ozone. what of it about the space shuttle hurting the ozone layer every times it reaches orbit just by punching through
15. Gee, that's an understatement. They're litterally ripped apart by the thrust alone. Now they should have chained one down, and THEN run the engines up to full power. That would make for some extremely entertaining destruction. BTW, according to the announcer, the engines put out 58000 lbs of thrust, and there's four of them (obviously). How much does a 747 weigh anyways? 350363 the myth busters had a airliner engine attack a dodge intrepid to see if it happened once i for get the results and the engine i think it took a couple passes but it was eventually blown over.
16. the fact that he is doing it is cool i would have picked a more efficent bird. but it porbably was also the cheapest. i know i heard him say he was looking for a great way to fly the Whole family. when he picked that plane.
17. i wondered how it was done so i did google search http://www.astronautix.com/craftfam/usslanes.htm no pics could be found. if i was a rich tally ho boy like John Trovalta i wouldnt have a paltry 707 my bird would be a md 11 (or old fighter)
18. i cool with most of the looks of airliners(love the md-11 look) david do you read any dale brown books, he does alot of futuristic area 51 airforce type books, in his latests books he has a gutted b-52 with lasers
19. any one think the pentigon will let the airforce use the f/a-22 in the next us vs india wargames?
