How I've always thought was that the Meltran hips were at the Q-Rau hips, and the Meltran knees were at the Q-Rau knees - that's why the knees on the Q-Rau are so freakishly high up on the leg. Depending on how it was drawn, that should allow normal movement of the Meltran limbs. Just like she was wearing stilts. I was disappointed to learn that the arm are kept inside the pilot area and not into the arms - proportions appear to allow the arm use as well, just like the legs.

If you want to look at making discs, Doom9 seems to be pretty authoritive - you have to wade through a bunch of info to get to the info you want, but it's all there. He also seems to keep up with the codecs and all, so you should be able to keep updated as well. I think almost all of the programs he uses are free/share/trial ware so you shouldn't have to purchase anything.

...unless you're the copyright holder of said show, then you're breaking the law. You forget that anybody in the R2 region can download your show for free. They might not care about your subs, they just have to ignore them and then not ever buy their R2 release. In VF-X2, the holes are clearly cannons. I don't know about VF-X, and they used rifles in M7Dynomite.

Who can say the capabilities of the funny chinese compared to the Cats Eye? From a guy who knows nothing about it, I would say that looking at just the dome size indicates that the Cats Eye has greater range. I think that the Chinese is used locally in hot spots, while the Cats Eye is used to control regions. And, we needed a way for Misa to get on the cruiser so Hikaru could kiss her the Chinese might have been harder to script into getting captured. Besides , how often did you see the chinese in the show anyway?
