  1. I will not buy a microsoft game machine unless I have no other choice for access to key game developers like Square and Rockstar or any other developers that start putting out games I want to play. The games make the system. Let's face the facts, Game-cube, PS-2, X-Box it doesn't matter what the thing you stick the games in looks like for real. If the games are good, run smooth and handle nicely it doesn't matter.
  2. On the controller, I actually have a controller made several years ago for the PS1, it was a limited edition controller, it looks almost exactly like that. In fact it was called the "Boomerang" by the gamers at the time, no analog sticks but this was pre- analog controllers. Anyway, I have to say that it is by far the most ergonomically pleasing controller I have ever used. Until you have held one and played a few games with it you may not like the look but seriously, give this one a chance I think the controller designs is bar far more "right" feeling in the hands than the PS-1 PS-2 standard controller and I love those things.
  3. I haven't read the original release myself or anything, but doesn't the statement that it is the last planned 1/48 VF-1"A" in itself intimate that they have plans for the release of perhaps different variations of the VF-1 like maybe more 1-J or 1-S types? I think it is suspicious that they would go so far as to break it down to the 1-A model if their were to be no more 1/48's.
  4. That one is rumor right now. The PSP has an IR transmitter, some crafty japanese kids figured out that they can control their Sony robot Dog with it, it is speculation at this point but if it is capable of transmitting the signal to remote controll the dog, it is probably capable of transmitting to control many different Sony products. It will likely take a firmware upgrade from Sony to facilitate the function any further, or it could just be a fluke with the broadcast spectrum hitting on some of the Dog's signals. I can't find the article about it this second but I am pretty sure I read it on Engadget or Gizmodo..
  5. I was in high school too, shovelling quarters into that machine while I was skipping school. That is the one
  6. Snag the game "Sidearms" if you see it too, it is a sidescrolling shooter of the RType variety but with a tranforming jet as the player character. (This was probably a re-named Macross game and I am ignorant, but I couldn't stuff enough quarters into it as a kid) On the PSP, I saw that some people are doing different things with it, a friend of mine wrote made a web based dice rolling utility and set up a portal so she can use her PSP instead of a dicebag at gaming sessions. Some poeple are doing some basic homebrew programming for theirs. Have you seen any interesting and unexpected applications for the PSP yet, aside from using it as a remote control for your home stereo or Sony robot dog that is
  7. Well, I never bothered to get into the whole MP3 thing, I have a pretty substantial CD collection, as in anything I want to listen to, I have so my good old CD walkman or minidisc player have carried me just fine up to now. I of course agree with you to a point, it is uneccessary to have every video game ever coded in your pocket, there is a ton of crap out there, but I think it is a little too much of a P in the A to have to go farting around loading and unloading emulators and games every few days. Some more storage space would make it worth my while to get it done.
  8. Yeah but then you are stuck in the memory card computer swap cycle that we are trapped in now for reasonably priced alternatives to re-puchasing movies we already own. Have you fooled around with a fully loaded Hacked Xbox yet? A buddy of mine has his set up with a 150gig HD and he has over 6000 games loaded on to it, NeoGeo's full library, damn near every title for the NES/SNES/Turbografix16/Sega Master System/Genesis/Saturn/ every gameboy title worth playing, over 700 Arcade titles, 50 or so full X-Box games, it is a monster. When my PSP can do that I am going to stop participating in society.
  9. From what I have heard and read, a couple people have cracked the basic game encoding system that is used on PSP games, this discovery will allow them to duplicate the startup programs that interface with the PSP OS. They have only got it to work on the japanese PSP version 1.0 with no firmware upgrades, but essentially this is the first step to being able to "Mod" psp's to run non'official software. It is still early, and only works on japanese PSP's with the version 1.0 un-upgraded OS so there hasn't been a lot of fanfare but we are right around the corner from Emulators for our PSP's. As soon as someone fingers out how to get a portable mini-hd hooked up to the PSP we will be able to carry around every video game ever made up to about 1999 in a couple 40 gig mini-drives. Just give it a year, enterprising individuals will be selling portable HD's pre-loaded with the history of video games for your PSP.
  10. Well, the old intel that Graham got said that the SDF-1 was going to be the final jewel in Yamato's Macross crown. (Did it say they were actively pursuing a sculptor back in 2003?) Now since a change in management direction it is iffy in a lot of people's minds. I think that a nicely detailed SDF-1 is a must for most collectors of MACROSS, hell, it is the focal point of the series.... I think if Yamato does decide to scrap their plans for it they are making a big mistake because it is an item that will sell big out of the gate and have constant demand for as long as people are watching anime.
  11. I think that if they made it approximately 1/3000 or just a tad larger, the DYRL? version and put a bunch of detail into it it would be great. I won't go throwing around dollar amounts but I would pay a significant price for a really nice version. I have said it a few times in other threads but I think that Bandai is really missing the boat by not putting out an SOC SDF-1 in the scale they made the Space Battleship Yamato. That scale and level of detail with significant Diecast would make fans and collectors around the world happy, I don't see that product failing.......
  12. 30! Wow, I think more frightening is the amount of space that 100 1/48 boxes will devour. You will have to buy a warehouse to store them all I wonder if one of thos guys will jump up and offer you a volume discount, that is a pretty decent chunk of change someone is gonna make off you.
  13. Nice! Thanks for the heads up, I think you just made a lot of people's day
  14. Is that near Podunk? Pretty close, The Town of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee has one grocery store, a few used car lots and a mexican restaurant, ....Oh and a Super Walmart:
  15. I think we are actually seeing the evolution of 'Mecha" right now, at least the way it will really happen. Over in the Science Mega thread there is a link to an article about the recent power assist suits that have been made in japan to assist the handicapped and production workers. They are essentially limited bionic exo-skeleton frames. I think like lots of people speculating, these sorts of suits will get modified for military use, body armor plating with limited muscle enhancing for front line / urban warfare troops/ Battlefield mini-robots used for mine and bombsquad duty are being fitted with cameras and machine guns and used to snuff out enemies in urban settings. Unmanned flying drone with bombs, these are your modern day "Mecha". With time and innovation these devices will be improved upon. It isn't likely that we will be seeing 50 foot tall robots fighting our wars anytime soon, but remote pilotted bradley tanks, human sized track/wheeled breach and clear robots designed to break into hostile held buildings and kill occupants, those things are just around the corner. Conjecture, speculation, feasibility studies or just plane old mocking of science fiction creations is a little pointless since when you are talking about creations that are works of fiction based upon future technological advances. We still have a long ways to go in terms of understanding bugs, plastics, bio-engineering and physics before we can start writing things as completely impossible.
  16. Well they may not have sold a million, but they shipped out the first million units the first twoweeks of release, so.... The major cities sold out of their stock and got second shipment units with no Spiderman UMD. Out in bumpkinville, like my town, you can still find first shipment units on the shelves of some Target and WalMart stores and they have the spiderman UMD. Those will get increasingly rare over the coming month or two till thye sell them out. I expect that the occasional first shipment unit will still pop up every once in a while though.
  17. Well, see she did end the movie exposed in just a T-shirt and pants in sub zero temperatures, so she should be a popsicle... Me, I think they should start out the sequel by backing up the footage on AVP about five minutes before the final fight, and let the predator make out with her like he wants to. There were at least four scenes where I expected the rediculous heroine to play kissy face with the predator, anyhow..... So they get nasty in one of those shacks that she should be freezing to death in, well naturally after she wins the day she flaps her wings and flutters back to civilization only to find that she has been impregnated by a predator warrior who was infucted with an alien embryo. So, while the alien-predator is having whacky fun on the predator mothership, she crawls into a cardboard box in some alley in NYC and is magically cocooned into the box for some rapid pregnancy/metamorphosis. Meanwhile, the Predators finally kill the Alien-Predator by going back to earth and kidnapping the most powerful combat creature in the universe the love child of post sex-change Jean Claude Van Damme and Arnold Schwarzanegger. He Pwn's the Alien/Predator in hand to hand combat and is crowned King of the Predators. On Earth, some hoodlums break open the crysalis of the mountain climber heroine to find the Human-Alien-Predator bastard birth of the apocalypse, he proclaims that he is the omniscient ruler of the planet earth and begins to rampage through NYC killing every person or train in his path while impregnating homeless crack-heads with his mutant love. The police can't stop it, the army can't stop it, and oh damn, the Predator's took the combat king, Bubba Van Damme Schwarzanegger! What will the earth do!@! Sudden Bubba pulls up the Predator mothership and hops out with a cool Coors Light in each hand and proclaims "It's On!" Crackheads all start chest bursting out angry midget aliens with birth defects and it all culminates in a slapfight showdown between Jean Claude Van Damme wearing a "World's Greatest Mom" apron and the reanimated corpse of Archie Bunker.
  18. I have a Luke ESB MR FX saber it is really cool, I never had one of the old versions to compare the sound effects but I am pleased with the quality of mine, sounds good and looks cool.
  19. Sounds like the "Real Detail" American cannibalized 1/60 non-pg version if I had to guess by the price. Not worth 82$, my overpriced local hobby shop has one for 59 which I think is still way too much for it.
  20. Not sure what the timeframe is for this thing anymore but I have had a convergence of expenses rise up, I still want the kit, but it is going to be Mid June or early July before I have the expendable cash for this again. I have been sitting on the money for the last 7 months or so, but my projection TV blew up over the weekend and I am going out of the country for a few weeks. If these come out before June 15 or so, then bump me down or off the list, if they aren't ready till after then, no problem. So, you can bump me down to the end of the list, or list me as tentative if you need to, but I won't be able to front up the cash until at least June 15. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Yeah I gotta say, that is a crazy cool custom dude, I love what you did with that kit, it has a slightly more animated feel to it. Really really pretty in my opinion, and I like the pose, nosecone and all
  22. Don't own one, my little brother had one, I think they are too bland looking and lack details. I would sell half my soul for a highly detailed SoC version like the space battleship Yamato. If Yamato toys ever decides to break out and do a nice big version of the DYRL version I will pay for one
  23. <---------- Jealous I want that 1/48 kit, but I just can't get up off the cash right now. Trip to Ireland this month, few other expenses and kits already committed to. Congrats on the purchase, I will eagerly await pictures of that monster
  24. Thank you sir That is the picture I used for my first attempt but the copy I had stored was much darker and really tough to see, that one is perfecto!
  25. Very nice I wanted to get one put together with the Macross in cruiser mode lenghtwise across the PSP but I wasn't able to find a nice bright image of the ship in a decent resolution, and for some reason i have lost the ability to capture screen grabs off DVD's, I think I got a Microsoft update that sabotaged me. Any chace you might get bored and make a cool SDF-1 cover plate
