  1. I was just there this past week myself, I only know a few words of Japanese and had no idea about the picture policy. I went into an arcade/gambling joint there and tried to take some pictures of one of those Gundam arcade card machine tournaments, we have nothing like that where I live, jesus, you would have thought I was trying to take pictures of a nude celebrity or something, suddenly about 4 security guys come leaping from behind machines making "X's" with their arms shouting. Oops! So I was afraid to take pictures of the Angel Birds / Camo GBP displays but I saw the same ones. I wish we had stores like those within a couple hours of my house, the wall of Valk boxes in that ABC / LOAX stores had me drooling. Tokyo was a total sensory overload, what a fun trip.
  2. I haven't seen any build up updates yet, are these being built on a crash rated real helmet? Or are you just funnin
  3. Got mine in hand today, Holy cow the pictures just don't do justice to how damn big this thing is. So, frigging cool!
  4. Super Stealth seems to be a love hate deal. For whatever aesthetic reasons I absolutely loathe that paint scheme. My vote would be for the VF-0A, looking at pictures of them side by side may help you choose. Check out the gallery on the main page and scrutinize images of both till you know what you like best
  5. I just watched Macross Plus again after peering at this thread all week. Man I can not wait for this release
  6. Someone shoudl steal your idea and put it on a kid's head, I think they could probably wear it like a helmet LOL Mike could manufacture children's Monster costumes!
  7. Every time I see a new picture of this one I think it may be my favorite VF next to the Hikaru-1S. I thought I was done buying Valks, this new round of offerings really has me wondering what I am going to do about display/storage.
  8. Let's not derail into a hate-fest here, I had no intention of starting an argument and I am really excited that GeneralMayhem is working on a helmet sculpt, I am glad a few others seem to be taking a poke at it as well. Skull-1, I thought it was pretty clear that you were referring to the 1k original, and pleading for someone to produce an alternative in your post, once again a tiny bit of uncertainty and everyone gets their feelings hurt. I am eager to see what comes out of those projects, I think of the three discussed, GeneralMayhem's looks like it will be the one that sees major progress first. Just a guess, and I hope it does turn out awesome.
  9. Hahaha That is great! Not to mock your head, but jeepers, you are right, that it HUGE!
  10. I think the results are pretty reasonable seeing as we are all congregating on a forum dedicated to a cartoon that ran on TV 20-25 years ago when the majority of us (by the poll) were in grade school/junior high. I think it is a pretty good crowd for the most part ~Edit~ oh yeah, 33
  11. Very cool information there I was looking at the 1/60 list and I know you said you were updating/adding to it. I may have looked over it, but i didn't see the 1/60 GBP-1S with VF-1J on there, you might add that under a re-release list later or something. Anyhow, good stuff, you guys have done a ton of work on that site
  12. Does it suddenly feel like maybe they have been watching the MW boards a little more closely.... Lots of these variations have been done as customs. Really cool stuff
  13. That post wasn't intended to be offensive, but I can understand how it could have been taken that way. Like I said in my post, I went to your site and checked out your existing stuff, it looks very nice. What I should have taken the time to say, is that my personal issue ( not that my personal issues mean crap) is that you don't have product to show before accepting money, I and I am sure many others have gotten into these sorts of projects before, being the buyer and offering up money in advance in a good faith agreement and ended up getting hosed due to poor planning, illness, act of god, 3rd party intervention, best intentions gone haywire, whatever. Nothing personal man, it's just that you are handling this like a commission someone came to you for instead of a product run you are offering. Most of the time the one who loses in these situations when anything goes wrong is the guy coughing up the cash on the front end. I apologize for calling it "Vaporware" (vaporwear? ) however, the only thing you have shown so far is a picture that you indicated was a partial sculpt you started some months/years ago and may or may not still have. I am still curious about your reference material, what series/version of the helmet you are doing? Although it sounds from the tone off your post that I don't need to bother asking, which I guess is fine too. Good luck, I hope it comes out great, and if you my hold the post against me, I won't take it personally, it's easy to offend across the internet. And while I assume that the recaster warning was just a general statement to all, have no fear fom this MW/RPF member, I dont have the skills, time or lack of respect to do such a thing to someone who is supporting the hobby. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
  14. Of the actors floating around Hollywood, Crispin Glover was born to play the joker, any other recognizable actor will likely be a disappointment in my opinion.
  15. Out of curiousity, do you have lineart or reference materials pulled together to get this going? Is the only sticking point needing someone to front cash to get the ball rolling? I'm in the same boat, I want one, I can afford it, but I would like to see a finished product before I make a commitment. I am heading to Tokyo in a couple weeks, so I am going to hang onto my spending money this month, if nothing has happened I'll consider putting my money where my mouth is when I get back, but without a prototype it is hard for me to go floating cash off into the void. By the way, the rest of the stuff on your site looks great, very professional. If it weren't for that fact there is no way in hell I would even consider putting cash on a "vaporware" project.
  16. Well, I used to recommend Lebhead's site, it had a nice primer on Robotech versus Macross, and the HG vs. Big West debacle, but his site seems to have gone on to web-heaven. There is always the HG licensing debate thread, there is good information there, but you have to wade through a lot of junk This Thread
  17. <------------ Jealous The probe droid was a very limited kit, it is totally kick ass, I deunno if Mike was in the group getting the hyperdine electronics kits, but there are some stunning videos of them over at the RPF forums. I love the little glimpses of bits of your collection in the background. Um the Monster is freaking awesome too! I can't wait
  18. I am in for 2.
  19. I am really excited about the kit, any idea how many out have knocked out so far? Just so I can guage how long it will be before my number comes up The build up pictures have me chomping at the bit!
  20. LOL I just shot tea through my nose, thanks!
  21. It would be totally retarded, but my brother and I were talking about this last night, with them adding the ability to co-op in the game playing Lead and Bass guitar, I wonder how long it will be before they roll all these games together and you have "Rock Bad with Dancers!" Two guitar players, Drummania drummer, Beatmixer with a little gamepad mixer, Karaokesinger and then line up some dance pads for dancers or audience participation
  22. If you check out page 2 of the thread there are two other guys in the process of sculpting helmets there too. If they come up with a solid sculpt I will be very excited. I was checking out used motorcycle helmets at the local swap meet this past weekend in anticipation, looking for padding I could cannibalize
  23. Or like concrete boat docks, it could just have a few chunks of styrofoamfoam in the center.
  24. I dunno why I didn't think of it earlier, but Guitar Hero 2 totally needs to have some High on Fire on it. Modern, guitar heavy metal that really kicks ass. There are some great songs by The Melvins that would go well on a guitar hero game. Mastodon and Isis as well. Tool wouldn't go for it, but I have to plug my favoraite band
  25. I would love to see some old Testament / Slayer / Voivod type stuff on there. Testament had some records that would just be fabulous fodder for the guitar hero games
