It would make great yard art, I have the 1/72 monster Kit that was available a year or two ago, it is as big as an end table, the 1/60 would be big enouugh for kittens to pilot.

I'm a big geek, I still play every week with all my buddies from High School and college. I'll have to stop on the way home from work tonight and pick up a Grape Soda and a little bag of Funyuns to commemorate his passing.

If you can set up next to a window and have a box fan or one of those little office desk turbo fans and a cardboard box you can make a ghetto spray booth that will handle most issues I threw mine away at the onset of winter but will make another one soon. I know there are tutorials on the internetz but basically you cut a cardboard box at an angle (In half diagonally) cut a hole in the back of the box the size of your fan. Set up your fan and spray box in front of the window, open window, turn on the fan blowing out the window and spray away. I still use a respirator when I paint or sand indoors or out but this blows most all waste/overspray outside. You end up with a rediculous looking fan after a few dozen sessions but if it is plastic you can usually scrape acrylic paint right off the blades.

They are supposed to be a fun little diversion, like the old coin op grocery store "toy in a ball" machines, and they get to soak collectors and completists for plenty of cash if they want to get every one. I was amazed by the number of stores in Akihabara that cater solely to reselling these collection figures in clear plastic bags so you can see what you are getting.

But man they gotta double dip on the hardcore fans somehow. I am sure they think there are tons of people that want to upgrade to a PSP slim and to play GoW but can't wait till June so they can get them to buy it twice.

Didn't you get the memo, Wireless + Internal Rechargable Battery = Ph4t L3wtz for the Hardware manufacturers. I think they feel entitled to make up some of the system cost losses through peripherals. I absolutely suffered from sticker shock when I saw the Sixaxis prices in Circuit City.

There is a lot of PSP goodness out there for the next month or so. I just got Wipeout Pulse, I love those games and it delivers if you enjoyed the Wipeout franchise. Patapon next week, God of War and FFVII Crisis Core in March.

Which was my point, sure there are exceptions and there are plenty of tech savy old folks out there, but I would hazard to bet that they are in the minority. For the time being those older folks who just don't want to hassle with all the tech stuff aren't going to go for digital download unless, as I alluded to and was spelled out a few posts above, someone comes out with a very easy to use set top download box that will work at the click of a button. There are still millions and millions of americans who do not have home computers, let alone High Speed internet, the movie companies want to sell those people movies and can't force them to move into the technology modern age. I think there are a lot of reasons why we are going to see another 5 o 10 years worth of physical media sales before downloading becomes the absolute predominant means of retail information transfer. I might have to eat my words, but if I do, there are going to be masses of unhappy, bumfuzzled old people and Morlok tech savages roaming the streets with torches looking for DVD's so I won't suffer much.

Except for the fact that the unwashed toothless masses can barely operate a DVD remote let alone figure out how to download video content and get it to play on their big TV's. So unless they come out with a plug and play tard box on the cheap it will be the same videophile and youth demographics. Dont' get me wrong, DL content is the future but the studios aren't prepared to go that route due to piracy fears, and the public just isn't prepared, I mean can you see your mom or your grandma trying to download a movie?

A Moscato style Gnerl sounds pretty good to me. I too would be pretty damn excited to see a Glaug come out of your shop some day.

They aren't cheap, but these also aren't mass produced, injection molded garbage made by slave labor. They are hand crafted little pieces of art lovingly created and cast by a skilled artist, who happens to be a member of our online community. Really good, and not cheap, "garage" kits are usually collected by a slightly different audience than the average collector because if you intend to build them, you have to be serious enough about the subject matter to invest quite a bit of your personal time building, painting and finishing them, when you spend your free time working on them the $50 to $500+ dollars you spend is really worth it when you have a finished product that you are proud of, and a sense of accomlishment and pride in your work. Then again, if you are on a tight budget, like anything else non-essential, it's a luxury item and sometimes you just have to look the other way in favor of your necessities. Remember that Macross ran on TV in the 80's, the people that grew up watching it as kids are adults for the most part and have been in the workforce for more than a decade, have a couple hundred bucks to spend on something you love every once in a while doesn't necesarily mean you have a monetary anal leakage problem either. Anyhow, These are awesome kits, his whole line has been spectacular. I hope you get the opportunity to see (or build) one first hand some day.

Your best bet is probably going to be to watch EvilBay for a while, you'll get more accurate going rate prices and maybe see one you can swoope in on.

Yeah, I will never figure out what the marketting geniuses are thinking with the prices on the Redneck Racecar / Musclecar Revivals. These were the cars that the working class car modders of the day owned, they were affordable (to some extent) and not meant to compete with the Porsches and the Corvettes. Joe Hammerhead can't afford a 40K Challenger, so who's gonna buy them? Looks like a niche market car that they priced out of it's niche, time will tell. I assume they think, like the Harley Davidson revival, that all the doctors and dentists and lawyers that hate their lives and wish they had been rebels free ont he road would pay 50G's for them all spruced up. I think it sucks, they look cool, but no way in hell they are worth 40G's. Period.

Loved the movie, hated the camera work. 3 people were sickened, had to leave the film in the theatre i was in alone. I am so sick if that lame shaky cam. I pray this is the one that teaches them to stop using it, this movie would have been way, way, way better if they had used the shaky cam only in a half dozen or so specific scenes in short bursts. It would not have detracted from the idea that Hud was carrying the camera if it was steady most of teh time however, not being able to keep up with what was going on all the time, well it really pulled me out of the story. I liked it but won't watch the movie again. If they used a steady cam I would have bought the film on DVD or Blu-Ray and watched it repeatedly.

I think it was Damnation Alley MRI boy, I remember a scene where they were in a city going to scavenge for food or supplies, and these swarms of killer cockroaches that had eatten all the tires off the cars and cleaned the skeletons of the dead attacked. I had that problem, it turned out that somehow my Wii settings defaults had been tripped and it had my sensor bar listed on top of the TV instead of under it where I have it positioned, that caused the tracking to be all screwed up for the wii-mote and was really only really noticable with the zapper. Double check your settings, it might be an easy fix.

I think another significant factor in the "format war" that has been largely left out of the debate is the late adopters, the people who only change formats when they are literally forced to. I think everyone's grandmother still uses the VCR, my mom, aunts, uncles, grandmother all still have standard TV's most of them just got DVD players in the last couple years and cling tenaciously to their old VHS collections as though they were prized vinyl albums. When DVD players first came out they were expensive (My top of the line Panasonic AC-3 decoder model was $600.00) There was very little content came in a constant trickle but it took years and years for lots of the covetted titles to get released like where we are right now with the HDDVD/Blu-Ray situation. Those "Late Adopters" didn't come rushing in throwing money around early. I think with this format war, and one of the big factors in Warner's decision was, that if they didn't have a single format out there, those late adopters would just sit this entire round of format out completely. I think that they are more concerned with the people who haven't spent money right now than those who have already chosen a system. Toshiba and HDDVD probably won't make it that far but early 2009 is when a truly pivotal battle could be fought, when standard definition TV goes Bye-Bye and a zillion HD sets are sold, shortly thereafter, when the "I hate them black bars on mah teevee" crowd gets HD sets and see's the grainy image quality of older poor transfer DVD's next to their HD American Gladiators, the company with a cheapo HD content player will make a killing.
