Where'd you preorder it from? My friend is also looking for one.
-
Nope. It's not designed to carry a gunpod.
-
I'll be skipping on this as I don't need another VF-4 and this is just a straight reissue more or less. I've been streamlining my collection and sold off most of my duplicates already with the exception of the VF-19Advance. But glad for those who will finally be able to get one of these at an acceptable price.

I posted a size comparison about a year ago. -
Well if for some reason Macross Delta ends up being the show where the Megaroad, Shin and Alto reappear after their mysterious disappearances, then a Macross Delta ver DX VF-4 might not be that far fetched. We might get a DX VF-0A (Battle damaged Shin ver) from that as well, although that's really stretching it.

Oh noes! My wallet's vacation was too short-lived

Ah if "solid" meant "holds together in its modes well", then yeah I would agree that it is indeed solid. I thought Mr March meant "durable/robust" when he used the term, so I gave my own opinion on it. Especially considering that he thought it was as solid as the v2 VF-1, which is one of the most durable (if not THE most) of all the 1/60 valks. @Mr March - regardless of the perceived durability, don't let that stop you from getting the VF-4 rerelease. It's the best representation of the VF-4 that can transform without being a floppy mess.
-
The Monster is different from the Konig Monster. If I'm not mistaken, the destroid Monster should be larger than the VB-6 Konig. Yes, the HMR will be the non-transforming destroid Monster.
-
I own a VF-4, but I wouldn't consider it as a particularly solid toy. It feels pretty fragile to be honest, especially when pulling out the arms and locking the nosecone onto the crotch in battroid. It's still a good representation of the valk, but I personally think sturdiness is one of its strongest points.
-
Mine finally arrived in the mail. First impression is that it's much more robust and nicer than I expected it to be. Transformation is pretty easy and the armor parts stay on well. My only nitpick is probably the lack of ratchet joints, especially in the knees. Because of my OCD, it takes me forever to get everything lined up perfectly and symmetrically in a neutral standing pose hehe.

I didn't like this box art. The best one IMO from Arcadia was the VF-0D box art.
-
Hi Yeti. Thanks for the offer, but I eventually priced the VF-25G at $200 w/o shipping. Trying to sell it locally first. Thanks!
-
Ah hehe point taken. But that sounds like you have it in Battroid more due to necessity rather than preference
-
Haha that's an amusing way to describe the VF-4's battroid mode. I personally find it ugly as well. The only mode that looks nice is fighter IMO, which is kinda sad because I can't make decent use of its transformation gimmick.Actually, does anyone here that only owns a single VF-4 actually display it long term in a mode other than fighter?

Thinking of selling my VF-25 Renewal duplicates (F, S, G, RVF). Any idea how much each of these go for in opened but very slightly used condition? I assume the G is the one that will have the most demand from this bunch.

No, sorry I don't. On another note, I just found out that the latest Lego AT-AT Wlaker is roughly 1/65 scale (assuming it's 22.5m tall). I placed it beside my VF-0 and my gosh does the AT-AT suddenly look small now! It feels like the Macross battroids can easily push a walker down hahaha. And to think the AT-AT was designed to be super slow due to its size. But a valk with a comparable size to an AT-AT is more agile/maneuverable than any of even the smallest Star Wars starfighters like the A-Wing. -

Yes. The shoulder issues were already resolved for some time so you don't need to worry about them. The only time you'd probably have to think twice on the shoulder issue are for the really old releases which you usually only find as 2nd hand. -

Haha yeah. But to be fair, the A-Wing was more like the straw that broke the camel's back as the SSD just lost all its shields right before the moment of its collision. At least that's what I remember. What I still find annoying up until this day is that even though they lost the Death Star II, I'm sure the Imperials still had more than enough naval firepower to wipe the floor with the rebel fleet as well as raze Endor's moon to the ground and kill off all those Ewoks. -

I never truly realized how big a Star Destroyer was until I placed these two side be side. Yes, I know the scale is a bit off (Star Destroyer is supposed to be 1.6km long, while the SDF-1 is 1.2k long), but even when the Star Destroyer being smaller than it should be, it simply DWARFS the SDF-1. Just look at the size of the bridge tower on the Star Destroyer. It's probably more than big enough to house the entire Macross City found in the SDF-1's leg! -
You know, a year ago I also believed that. But after seeing what Bandai achieved with the VF-171 and the VF-19 Advance, they kinda proved that it's possible to get all these battroids at a convincing height with one another. Even if you say it's CG, I don't see any problem in converting Bandai's VF-171 into the VF-17, nor the VF-19 Advance into the VF-19s from M7, and still keep their scale relatively close. They also scale very well together with the VF-25/27 Renewals, YF-29/30 in both fighter and battroid modes. So my point is Bandai is more consistent with the scaling of their Renewal valks and onwards.

To clarify, I never said they have to be the same height as the VF-1. I said they were out of scale with each other (there's a difference).I'm just using the VF-1 as a baseline. Now if you compare the VF-19, 21/22, you'll see that they're much much taller than they should be compared to the VF-1. And the VF-19 looks too small compared to the VF-17 and 22 as well. Also, just looking at the 19 and 17 and 21/22, it's obvious they're way out of scale in battroid mode. Jenius did a clear explanation of this on his anymoon website where the scale of Yamato's/Arcadia's valks change between fighter and battroid mode.

Yamato's 17, 19, 21/22 series do not scale properly in battroid mode. They're either too tall or too short when placed side by side with each other or their other 1/60 valks like the VF-1. In fighter mode, they look okay together. Ever since the YF-29, Bandai's 1/60-ish valks all scale almost perfectly well with each other in all modes.

Oh did it come with adapters for the armored mode? I'll check the box again. The only adapters I remember are for the unarmored/bare valk since it locks onto the hip bar.
-
It's not possible to place this on a stand with the armor on right?

The backpack armor thingie can separate and transform into a standalone bird-like mecha. On another note... I got this (yet another Lego) Jabba's Sail Barge (Set 75020) I normally do not care much about the minifigures nor do I collect them. But when I saw that they had a pretty decent minifigure of Slave Leia, I really wanted to have it. It's one of my most favorite outfits of all time. So I decided to buy the set. The opinion on the internet appears to be divided on this incarnation of Jabba's Sail Barge, and I was on the fence for a while myself. But after having it in hand, it's actually a really good set and the nose of the craft doesn't bother me one bit.
