Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

My early Christmas gift to myself. Pardon the crappy pic and background. Added an AA battery for scale comparison. -
Hi Yeti. For your poll, would it be better to ask if the leg came/fell off AFTER trying to extend the joint? The legs on mine are fine, but that's because I never tried extending the hip joint for fear of them breaking off.

Reminds me of another toy that I had as a child (just for one day). It was the Godaikin Abega. http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/1984/abega I returned it to Toys R Us (because I thought it was faulty) and got a G1 Omega Supreme in exchange (because they didn't have any more in stock). I have regretted that decision all my life. -
That Lego Optimus Prime looks like it has got even more mechanical detail than your standard Transformer toy. But man, it's HUGE! It looks like it's over 2 feet tall. And does it do a perfect transformation too? Holy cow that is truly impressive.

Yes, the thread was about the UCS TIE, but the one who posted the photo (Anio) comments that he noticed that the latest UCS sets can be prone to drooping/bending issues. When asked by another user on which sets show bending aside from the TIE, he posted a pic of the Slave 1. The droop is encircled here: There's a pretty large gap where you can see right through the Slave 1. If you want to read more about it, then here is the Slave 1 thread (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=100928&st=400). He mentions the sagging on post #409. -

Yup. The guy who mentioned the drooping also says he assembled things correctly. Here's a link to his post as well as a photo of his Slave 1.http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=115020#entry2340814 He builds a lot of MOCs so I would say he's an experienced builder with a good understanding of Lego. -

Congrats on your Slave 1 gift! It's nice eh? By the way, I would caution you on the way it's displayed now. Not because of it falling down, but because the front end might eventually droop and deform due to the weight. I've had mine on the stand for about 2 months now, but I keep the front leading edge propped up on a small stand to help alleviate the weight. So far it's all good. But someone in a Lego forum had his displayed on the stand for 7 months and there's a noticeable droop on his already. Of course, I'm not sure if this will happen to everyone, but it helps to be aware of this potential issue. -
Yeah. I have no issues with my copy either. I also find the fighter mode pretty nice (and cute). The only thing I dislike about the fighter is that the legs look kinda wide when viewed from the top. Other than that, the proportions and details are all good IMO.And the transformation process is soooo much nicer than the Yamato 1/60 (especially the shoulders and chest). Very easy but still holds together relatively well. The only drawback is having to replace the windshield/heatshield.

For some reason, he looks like an older Isamu to me hahaha.

I have a "junker" VF-25F that has lots of scratches and a crack at one hinge, plus some really loose joints. Right now I'm using it as my display valk in fighter mode with Super parts. Fortunately in this mode none of the flaws are apparent nor do they make a difference. If you're just after that part, I might be inclined to sell you the whole thing for a large discount. But if you're overseas from my location, then it's probably not worth the cost.

Yeah the shoulders were rotated correctly. I already found out what I did wrong earlier and updated my first post. Thanks! @no3ljm - It's a possibility. But I usually prioritize local buyers first if ever I do decide to let go of it (if it's really selling for $500+ now)

I'm probably alone in wanting this to be a non-transformable VF-1. While having the ability to transform is great, I'm worried that it'll either be too unwieldy or not sturdy enough or both. I'm fine with the idea of a fixed Battroid that has the best detail and gimmicks as possible at that scale without compromising quality (like the Fewture Ultimetal Optimus Prime).

I'm trying to rebox my SDF-1, but have been unsuccessful for the past 30 minutes. I can't seem to fit the main body back into the styrofoam. There's barely enough clearance for the shoulders and the feet to fit through. And this will get even tighter once I wrap the plastic bag around it. I don't recall having this much trouble reboxing this around 3 years ago. Does styrofoam expand over time? Or maybe it needs to be semi-transformed or something to fit? Anyone care to help? Thanks. Okay nevermind. I figured it out. I needed to collapse the body more in cruiser mode. How do I delete topic? Thanks.

Seems like Bandai has officially shifted their focus away from Frontier for their DX valks. So I guess stuff like the Ghost drones for Brera are very unlikely to happen. Not to mention the VF-25G reissue that a lot of people were hoping for.
-
Now that it was teased that Bandai may be making a VF-2SS with SAP as part of the Hi-Metal R line, will more people be dropping their preorders of this one since it might no longer be "the only VF-2SS toy they can get".
-
Honestly, there was so much Bandai Macross goodness announced/teased in the Tamashii Nations event that I dunno what excited me the most. But I would like to get them all (assuming budget allows)!

Yeah I know what you mean. Not too long ago I had a Figma Kiryuin Satsuki shipped to me via EMS from HLJ. Even though I've had nothing but bad experiences with EMS, I decided to give it one last try because my wife would always get her EMS pacakages delivered straight to our door. I thought that if the package was small enough, I wouldn't have to pick it up at the EMS facility. But when I received the claim notice, I honestly considered just abandoning my package and call it a loss rather than go through the hassle of picking it up and paying the inflated import fees.
-
Yup. You got it.
-
Dude, not sure if I was reading some sarcasm in your post. Are you trying to say that we do not have FREEDOM like you do in the U.S.? But anyway, I've given him the link to HLJ. He'll be the one to decide if he wants to preorder with them or not. Thanks for the link.

A HLJ. I know that they're really popular on this board, but I would not really like to recommend that my friend order from there for 2 reasons: 1) HLJ always declares full value, so customs will really kill him on the import fees 2) They only offer EMS as the priority shipping option to my country. EMS is possibly the worst way to have something shipped here as they charge even more import fees than our regular mail, and claiming the item from the PO can be a grueling 5 hour affair. Of course he can always choose the slower shipping options, but with the holidays regular mail can be up to 3 months delayed because of all the backlog that accumulates during the xmas season.
