I think it's a misconception that NY doesn't give discounts similar to Amiami and HLJ. In fact, most of the time NY's item prices are lower than either of those 2 vendors during the initial stock. They only start marking it up if their stock runs out and they need to acquire new stock, but even then they don't always increase their prices. For other vendors, usually when their initial stock runs out, they don't get new stock until the item is released. Some people have pointed out that NY's shipping is more expensive, but I never really experienced a huge disparity in their shipping prices compared to the other vendors (maybe because I live closer to Japan). Although I've noticed lately that NY doesn't restock as often as before, and Amiami seems to have been able to reopen preorders more often.

How much do Virgin Roads go for these days? I got one before when no one wanted them. -
Got one of my Regults. Bigger than I expected. No wonder the Zentraedi can barely shoot anything down with these things. Their cannons can't shoot straight ahead! Hehe

Too bad her film with Cesar Montano bombed over here, especially since I heard that critics were giving it good reviews. They pulled it out from theaters before I got the chance to see what it was all about. Curse the viewing habits of our masses! -
Ah so it was indeed Ishtar that was singing and not Sylvie. I guess I mixed it up because I kinda remember Hibiki and Sylvie together in the bridge while that song was playing.
-
You're lucky you didn't watch it back in the early 90s and had to endure Sylvie's English singing voice. Or was it Ishtar or a duet with Ishtar? I can't really remember it much anymore. What I do remember is the shock of hearing a super deep girl voice suddenly singing in English in the middle of a Japanese song. It took me by surprise and I wanted to rip out my ears back then. The dubbers didn't make an effort at all to blend the singing voices well together. To this day, that's still the main reason I have avoided rewatching Macross II.

That Vf-0 is the old Yamato version?Edit: Sorry, didn't see the later posts. Please disregard. -
One of the worst experiences I ever had in over 35 years of watching anime was hearing the English dub of one of the final songs in the last episode. It was the one where Sylvie started singing. That still gives me nightmares...

Same. I wanted to order from NY as well since I save a bunch off customs fees with them, but didn't make it in time. I also prefer their ordering system. But I had to order from AmiAmi instead. I find it unusual that it's been easier to preorder from AmiAmi lately (Glaug, Monster, etc) compared to NY.
-
Really? I didn't know that. Aren't there too many contradictions created by it to be considered canon?
-
Battroid mode. For a cleaner look.
-
I wouldn't recommend it. If you can get disappointed from something like Arcadia's VF-0D, I don't see how this will satisfy you in any way. Also, as Macross II is not considered canon and these valks are not Kawamori designs, I don't consider any of them as necessary to complete a Macross collection. But if you really want to spend your money, it's your call.

Wow it's even better than I expected! Didn't know the cockpit had that much detail inside. And is it just me or was there some sort of display reading on the green screen inside the cockpit? Now I kinda wish I had ordered more. I have 1 from NY and 1 from AmiAmi. I also put in an order ar MyKombini before, but I'm not sure that'll be fulfilled (but I hope it does). I wish I could've gotten all 3 at NY though if only the preorders didn't close so fast.

True. Funny that based on that screenshot, the Yamato Regult appears to be undersized. A VF-1 battroid looks like it'll only reach up to the Regult's knee even when standing up straight.
-
Actually, I think Bandai scaled it almost perfectly. See this screencap from episode 2 below: You'll notice that the wings in gerwalk mode are as high as the knees of the Regult. Looking at how high your VF-1S's knees are and estimating the wing height if it was in gerwalk mode, you'll see that it'll also be as high as the knees of the Regult, just like in the anime. Yamato's 1/60 Regult is the one that is supremely out of scale.

Thanks! BTW, another online review. Looks awesome! http://blog.livedoor.jp/hacchaka/archives/51973269.html#more

How come I haven't received an invoice or payment notice for the Regult yet from AmiAmi? Should I have gotten one by now?
-
Wow I just watched Veef's review and it feels like people are being too forgiving of this toy. I don't think being a small company should be a justification for delivering such a substandard product. I may be wrong but as far as I know, Sentinel is also a very small company with just a few employees in their team. But I consider a lot of their products to be the best in their scale, with excellent design, engineering, paint, and quality. Their toys may be relatively expensive but I never feel cheated by their asking price and I know it won't get easily obsoleted by another manufacturer's take on it.
-
I wonder how that looks in Battroid. It looks like a paint scheme that forces you to keep it in fighter mode forever.
-
When does AmiAmi send out payment requests? I preordered the Regult from them and so far there's still no shipping cost.
-
You should add the Transforming Revoltech VF-1 bad to that list.
-
The shipping I choose depends on how fast I want it. If I choose FedEx it only takes around 3 days or so to arrive here in the Philippines. If I use standard shipping it can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks on average. In terms of cost, I don't really know if it's expensive or not. I've never ordered anything from any other country that is as far away from here as the US (e.g. South America, Canada). Comparing shipping prices from the US with Japan or HK is not feasible since those countries are relatively close to mine.

The pictures of the Sentinel version already show better leg articulation. It can even kneel down convincingly. Sentinel products usually have articulation that surpasses most other companies, including Bandai. And they have a lot of sliding/shifting parts too. It also has a lot more gimmicks such as even more lights, an opening hatch and a bleeding edge torso and head inside that also lights up. http://www.sentinel-toys.com/catalog/info.php?target=products_detail&products_id=223 Anyway, not discounting the Bandai version in any way. After all in the end, it's still very good and a representation of a different version of the Hulkbuster. But I just have a really high regard for Sentinel engineering and have purchased a good amount of their products ever since 2011 or so. When Sentinel makes a toy, it usually is the best version of that toy in that scale.

I just received my SH Figuarts Hulkbuster in the mail. Thing is a lot heavier than I thought it'd be. Also has diecast in more places than I expected it to (even at places not usually given diecast content like the faceplate). Not sure I understood this correctly. But you're saying you like the Bandai version more than the Sentinel version? Or is it the other way around? From the way it was worded it could mean either.I feel that once I get the Sentinel Hulkbuster (which I also preordered), I'll like it better than the Bandai one. While the weight and diecast is awesome on the Bandai, Sentinel almost always exceeds my expectations when it comes to toy engineering. I'm almost positive that their Hulkbuster will amuse me more and be more fun to pose than The Bandai version.

Thanks, jvmacross! Were those used items too? The original MSRP was $150. But I had to pay almost that same amount just to have it shipped to my country (it had a HUGE box) and the carrier I used charged by the size of the package rather than the weight T_T
