That's nice. How's your Atlas holding up? Is it on display or did you put it back in the box? What's holding you back from getting another Titanfall figure? Is it because of space/storage issues? -

The Ogre's out. That pic I posted was of mine. I got the IMC version. The green colored M-COR version is also out. Too bad mine's not the exclusive version though. Am actually almost tempted to get the M-COR version also, but I must restrain myself. EDIT: I just realized that my pic didn't post properly. I've edited my post above to correct it. -

Aww shucks. I'm actually trying to hunt down either the Atlas or Stryder. I passed on them before because I didn't have the space to display it or to store the box. When I freed some space up I decided to get the Ogre. The only Stryders I see are being sold from the US and it will be super expensive to ship it to my country. -

I had the opportunity to get a low-viz VF-1S back in the day for retail price and I passed on it. It didn't look nice to me. IMO, the paint scheme made it look like it was a bad photo of a VF-1S taken at night. Years later and knowing the value it goes for now, I still do not regret passing on it one bit. I still find it ugly. But hey that's just me. All the best to those who really like that paint scheme. -

How'd he break his barrel? Was it by flipping the gun barrel down on the very first transformation step in the instructions?- 16946 replies

So I got my MP-36 Megatron last Monday, and while I think he seems like he's probably the best looking MP to date IMO, I am unable to transform him. I am stuck at the very first step where you have to flip down the gun barrel. I understand what i'm supposed to do and I've seen people do it on youtube, but for some reason on my copy, the hinge where the gun barrel folds down on has 3 raised notches. The first notch appears to be too large and is preventing me from folding it further. I'm scared to apply more force because there's actually another hinge connected to it and I feel like too much force will cause breakage. All the video reviews I've seen don't have an issue here, and they are able to flip the barrel down on its double hinge quite effortlessly. I can only flip it down about 45 degrees before the notch stops the rotation. This is obviously nowhere near the 180 degree rotation you need for the first part of the transformation. You will see the 3 "ridges" or "raised notches" on the hinge joint I am referring to The first ridge is pretty large and blocks the barrel from rotating further than this point. I can only bend it down this far. You can see that I can only get it down to a 45 degree angle when comparing it to the hinge. My question to other owners is, did you have the same issue as I do? Should I just apply more force to get it over the notch? I thought of filing the ridge down, but am worried that it is used for something else.- 16946 replies

Whoa is that how much a used SDF-1 sells for now? -
My copy has no issues with the head probe. It fits snugly and securely. The underside of the probe is an unpainted recess in the shape of an oval in white. It's quite ugly if you leave the probe out. The reason I hate the battroid head so much is because it looks like a cross between an alien, a skullface, and an insect. Not a flattering combination.

I am of the opposite opinion. I think he has the worst looking Siegfried. The battroid head is atrocious. And if you place it side by side with the 31J, it just can't grab my attention away from Hayate's blues.

Just opened mine. Interesting, the preinstalled head crest and lasers are made of rigid plastic. The spares are the same too. I had expected that the preinstalled ones were going to be made of the softer PVC material (similar to how they had been doing it in prior releases). I like the change. After looking at it more in hand, I stand by my opinion which I made several months ago (which apparently spanner also shares). This color scheme is meh. And the emblem on the back makes it look kinda silly because it sticks out like a sore thumb being the only blue color on the plane.

I made a similar point a long time ago when that thread first came up. I'm not happy with Arcadia's method of making the customer pay for their factory's inefficient quality issues. They should instead work on reducing the waste in the process. In my business, we don't charge our clients double the normal rate just because we mess up 50% of the time.
-
I didn't say anything about Bandai. If you read my post again, I said there were other smaller toy companies than Arcadia who make great quality items at lower prices. I commented on this because it was brought up that Arcadia's pricing is "fair" because it was still cheaper than getting it on the aftermarket, even though it is a lot more expensive than the original retail price. Anyway, like I said in my last post, go ahead and buy it if you want, I'm not asking you not to. I may get one too. But I seriously think that no one should think that these aren't overpriced or even *gasp* a bargain.
-
Wow. No offense, but I'm honestly surprised to see some people actually justifying Arcadia's pricing on this. Like seti88 said, I don't think using a comparison with the current aftermarket prices is a logical thing to do. Arcadia already has the molds, materials, and existing factories to produce these things. It's not like they're digging up long lost artifacts from the buried remains of Yamato or scouring the farthest reaches of Earth to gather rare materials to make them. There is no reason for them to be charging a much higher price for it. Take for example the VF-4g reissue. The aftermarket prices for that thing were much higher than retail, but when it was reissued, it was almost exactly the same price as before after factoring in inflation. In fact, when most (in my experience) other toy companies reissue stuff, they're mostly very close to the original retail price and ignore aftermarket prices. Look at all the PVC scale statues for example. I have some of them that had gone up to 6x their retail price on the aftermarket. But when they were reissued 5 years later, the price was not far off from the original retail. Or look at it another way. What if LEGO decides to reissue the UCS Millennium Falcon for $3.5k? Would you think that's a "fair" price since the current aftermarket prices for it are $5k or more? Let's even say the reissue will have all printed (tampoed) bricks instead of stickers too. And please stop using the "Arcadia is a small company and they'll die if they don't price them this high" excuse. I've seen smaller companies make high quality products with lower prices. Now if you have no problem paying these prices, more power to you. But I would like you to at least acknowledge that while you're buying this product, that it really is overpriced for what you are getting.
-
Huh? 25800 JPY for an old 1/60 VF-1 mold with more tampo? I don't see how that price is anywhere near fair...
-
Hmm... Is it just me, or does it look like Yamato/Arcadia's color scheme for the fast pack does not fully match any of these reference shots?
-
You know what would be interesting and possibly a game changer? If these KO companies release valks in real world non-canon or master file paint schemes. It's something that an officially licensed company would probably never do, but is well within the realm of these unlicensed manufacturers. I think the potential market for these "custom paint schemes" would be immense.
-
I've made that observation long ago, therefore I don't think collecting toys as a long term investment is a good idea. There aren't very many who will opt to pay a higher price for an older toy (which is almost purely born out of nostalgia) VS a newer version of it that is most likely improved in all aspects significantly. It's probably similar to gadgets. How many people would prefer to pay a higher price fon an original Nokia 3310 VS the newer 3310 version that Nokia is releasing (assuming they want something that looks like a 3310 in the first place)?
-
I've wanted these since a long time ago, and while I'm glad they're finally getting reissued, I am somewhat on the fence on whether I still really want them. I guess the HMRs kinda helped satisfy my desire for these, and I already have the VF-22 M&Ms along with a bunch of Yamato VF-1s, so I'm not feeling the big urge here. But if they do a premium release with all the tampo, I will be more inclined to get them. We'll see. Another thing that's downing my enthusiasm is looking in my display cabinet, I noticed I have a lot of red/blue pairs already (e.g. M&Ms, Fire and Blazer Valk, Blade Liger and Geno Breaker, Murasame Liger and Hayate Liger, Ranma and Akane, etc). I guess it's a popular color combo.

I wonder what happened to no3ljm. He's been unusually absent for the last 2 days, even though he was really excited about preordering Mirage's 31C
