1. 1/60 VF-0S Woohoo! All we need now is the YF-19FP!

People are STILL waiting for that? lol Maybe they should start to put down preorders and in 5 years come back and they will be ready to release?

    401404

    Waiting? No.

    Wishing? Yes.

I dont give a rats ass about a rereleased 1/72 fp version though... Not anymore.

    If they make a 19fp, I'm hoping it's a 1/60 or bigger. :)

Edit: Oh and I definitely have to give props to yamato for the tampo printing. SIMPLY AWESOME. I hope they do this for all future releases. Decaling is a pain~ :p

  2. I just got my first.

    my two cents:

I think overall it's an improvement over the 1/48.

The only issue that I've had with mine was the tail fin spike. Mine was broken off and it was no where to be found in the box. My elbow joints are fine!

To put things into perspective though, this is a new toy... new territory. Given that fact ALONE, yamato did a fantastic job with this. I do hope some of the kinks get fixed before they make 0A and 0D variants, however... regardless, people waiting for a second run don't know what they're missing... everyone should pick this one up.

I'm usually yamato's harshest critics, but I gotta hand it to them... this is the best thing they've made since the 1/48.

  3. For me it was the Tampo printing on the intakes and gunpod that really made my day.

All the extra Tampo printing really surprised me, as my pre-production sample only had the Tampo printing on the tails and heatshield.

    396654

Thanks for the the review Graham !

I think it's awesome... SIMPLY AWESOME that yamato is finally tampo printing the markings.

I've just ordered my first two. I hope they dont have any QC issues.

  4. It does look smaller in person. Just look at the chest plate. BTW, why do people dislikes the Zero in B mode? IMO I think it looks very balanced, and very aggressive.

    396482

    Because they fear change

    396484

I agree, I think vf-0s' battroid mode kicks arse.... Also, if you just judge by the design alone, the vf-0s is much more intimidating than the vf-1.

I actually like the head turret and long laser barrels myself. But not so sure about the skinny arms. They do look cool and mechanical, but I wish that was the stuff that you see underneath the armor rather than on the outside.

This is why I think the VF11 kinda looks girlish. Skinny arms that look like they would easily get ripped off by a zentradi. (ie like what britai did in SDF:M to the chest plate of the vf1)

    396515

I dont know why the whole skinny arms things is bugging people who love macross. Range of motion required and for what they're used for really doesn't call for valks with huge "guns".

Valks should be packing lots of power and girth in their legs where it's most used, not their arms. :)

  5. Maybe 4 new releases in 2 months.

    395271

yah...THAT in itself is really stupid. not everybody has money for this...so now ppl will have to pick and choose which ones to buy...and that'll reflect negatively on sales. I mean these are $140+ products each...which by no means is a small amount of money unless you make $10k a month or have no life and eat instant noodles all day long...

I just don't understand how companies can be that retarded.

    395273

    I agree.

IIRC yamato usually reacts negatively to poor sales when for the most part the problem was with some poor decision making on their part. I guess if the ugly stealth and camo don't do well, we'll have another fit from yamato and the silent treatment.

  6. My immediate problem with the LVII was how decidedly CF it is.  If the tones weren't identical to the CF (outside of the painted portion) I'd probably be a lot happier with it overall.  Instead I feel like I just bought a funky custom CF... and I'm not much into customs or CFs.

The LV1 was completely different from all the valks.  I don't see it and think "Wow, they just repainted a Hikaru 1A" or something like that.

    391434

yea.. if yer gonna do a cammo valk the tones are the most important part...

I think they woulda sold more valks just by doing a similar LV1 version...

  7. I'd probably like it more if it was fully green with lighter green patches. That said, do you guys think it might look better if it was green with brown patches rather than brown with green patches?

    391058

    Zebra paint scheme. :p:lol::rolleyes:

    391066

 Woah, don't give yamato any crazy ideas~!

  8. Also, the the VF-0 may not have as big a fan base as the VF-1, so they may end up selling far few units.

    Graham

    387420

hmm, perhaps they should slip a sheet or 2 of advertisment in all their future and reissue Yamato products like their current hot seller 1/48. Stuff like posisble future release of VF-0D, SV-52, etc,, along with pictures or all current releases.

    387451

Ya mean like a catalogue of sorts? I used to love those that came with the old American toys like MASK and Starcom. Makes you gawk at the pictures of stuff your parents will never buy for you. :(

Burn the images in your mind and play with them in your mind. Early mental masturbation.....*cough*

    387460

Yeah,, pretty much a 1 page Catalogue.

I only got 2 offical Transformer G1 products back when I was small. So I too gawk at the picture of stuff that my parents will never buy for me. :p:(

The Catalogue from Mask was pretty cool, too bad I can only afford 1. It was the simi F1 race car that can fly.

Yes,, a Catalogue can do wonders.

    387467

A good idea but yamato makes rarely makes groups of valks together at once which a catalogue would need to be populated. The last time I remember they made more than two totally different valks at the same time was the mac plus series.... Even with the 1/48 series repaints, it was one or two after another.

  9. Since they've already made the vf-0S I think it's much easier for people now to vote for the vf-0d~ :p

Regardless, I think it's a must make. Reason number one (main character's valk) and it's screen time proportionately to the whole series, definitely shouldn't be overlooked along with it's popularity...

However, people who think passing the vf-0s by for the D I think, should reconsider...

The creation of the vf-0D depends on the vf-0s doing well.

    DO YOUR PART! :D

  10. If tooling was an issue for yamato, they'd never would've released all that macross plus toys and variant 1/60 DYRL single and double seaters would they?

But yes, its of course faster to repaint and change a head of an existing sculpt rather than make a new one but come on.....a VF-0D , SV-52 isn't that impossible for the near future.

    387399

    I agree.

Given that yamato cuts costs in other areas like paint, less metallic parts and the increase in efficiency with experience and computer assisted design, I'm not totally convinced that the extra tooling should pose such a HUGE problem as some people tend to believe it to be.

Yamato had a field day with the 1/48 & 1/60 vf-1's and the countless repaints the design yielded... so I think it's more in the question of how much profit yamato wants out per design. Obviously if they're looking at the profit they gained from the vf-1 line, NOTHING will come as close... It would behoove them to lower that bar just a tad if it's indeed set that high.

  11. Well Kurt I dont think you really need me to tell you how great your work is as usuall.........

    Oh if you insist ..

    Great work Kurt.

    386289

    ditto.

It'd be awesome if you could school yamato how to design good low vis schemes.

    :D

  12. You are all going to be very happy with this toy. It's loaded with improvements over the 1/48. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to go into details yet.

    Graham

    384535

I'm happy with it already and I dont even have it yet. :p

    thanks for the scan graham.

  13. It would be to costly for a new big scale YF/VF-19 mold that`s why it won`t happen and another reason why they went with VF-0S similar design to the VF-1.

    381963

Nah... what does the similarity of the molds of the vf-0 and vf-1 have to do with anything? They're two different birds regardless of the similar transformation scheme. They have to make new molds for anything new...

You might have a point if you mentioned the engineering involved in making a good looking valk in all three modes of the yf-19. But even still, the yf-19 has been made, and made successfully several times by different makers... They have sources of reference so they shouldn't have too much problems developing one. And hey.... they made the Konig, which I think posed a greater challange to make for yamato than a large scale yf-19 ever will.

The only other major question is if it'll sell... which... if you ask me... or anyone here for that matter, it will...

It's just a matter of time.

psssh, when somebody starts multiple threads on the same topic we tell him to go pick it up in a previously established thread. But every week and half we have some bored ass whiny kid who wants to start yet another yamato bitch thread. Let's pin a thread and leave it up so we can all get our fill of:

why won't yamato release head packs for the VF-1?

    where's my YF-19 FP?

Why can't yamato make every valk in 1/48?/pick a scale yamato!

I'm tired of VF-1's, yamato make me something NEW!

Yamato OWES me a new valk design because I'm special!

Why does yamato charge so much?

and every other whine and bitch that comes up. Seriously, no one would put up with thrity different threads on the same topic with anything else? So let's have a pinned Yamato, bitch and whine here! thread and be done with it.

    B))

    382093

You're asking the whole toy section to be pinned, pretty much. :p

Maybe we should also pin all comments of members who point fingers to others of bitching and whining. :D

Look, the fact of the matter is, people continue to talk about these subjects because it's just what's on a lot of people's minds....

    What's wrong with that?

It's not like we have much else to talk about anyway~ B))

  14. You think they care about selling to poor students?

    ...................

I don't take it as whining.  I take it as you have a bit of maturing to do.. As I've lectured this same rhetoric to kids about your age that work for me.

Only poor people complain about prices..  The rich simply walk away from prices they don't like and show up when the prices is right.

    379733

    ;)

So let me get this straight..... understanding business, like you, business master protoplast, is a requirement of maturity... AND.... the rich... never... complain about prices... just the poor...

You know until this, I didn't disagree technically with what you were saying... and even applauded that you've stayed away from offending and being insensitive to people who may be less fortunate what ever state in their walk in life... but what you've just said there has got to be most ignorant and laughably dismissable comment I've heard in a while.

So in all your success as a businessman and a member of the mature elite, what brings you to the "kiddie" toy section? To spread the gospel of worldwide business to the young and poor naive souls?

    How sweet. ^_^

  15. I don't like this idea cuz it's not like you ever get to see the pilot in battroid mode anyway...what's the point?  I dont' even know why they would add that as a feature.  kinda cool but useless.

not to knock your idea, if you like it go for it...but this is one thing I deem unnecessary.

    379447

I concur. Just like the highly detailed inner frame on PG Gundams. Not meant to see the light of day, unless you don't affix the armour.

    379464

ooo... the highly detailed innards of the PG gundams are definitely cool though..

As far as the rotating seat goes, meh.... for the same reasons stated above...

  16. dont get me wrong, I see why people are complaining. Its just the question is why are the prices so high? Well, becasue Yamato is a business, and they want to make money. REally that simple. I personally like the high end toys. Just because everybody cant afford one doesnt mean they should lower there standards or price. I would like to see bigger better VFs. If somebody started making valks even better than Yamato and wanted to charge $500 for it, that should be o.k. Whether or not everybody gets one doesnt matter. If a plastic transforming toy is not worth $500 to you, thats just a personal delima and  then dont buy it. If you cant afford a $500 toy, guess what, dont buy it. If you think its worth $500 but cant afford it, figure out a way to legitimatly get $500 and buy it.

If you "see why people are complaining" then you'd understand why people ask why the prices so high.

Though, I dunno why you're saying yamato shouldn't lower standards or price. No one ever asked for that... nor is that the only way prices for products are lowered... increased efficiency for one (as low vis lurker stated) is an example of other ways.

Most of the complaints and questions are posed because people honestly want to know... is it worth the money? I, like you, would like to think that it's just a matter of "buy" or "oh well, don't buy"... but it's never that black and white. but good for you for being so surgical with your decisions. Really. You must have flawless credit. :D

Well, if the fan with the greates love of macross with the least amount of money does not have the means to purchase a 1/48, then yes, he will simply have to pass. If he was really devoted or loved macross so much, he might have to get a second job, or sell something else he has. Really, check out these forums, there people making sacrafices all the time to get more 1/48 or what ever else. Its up to you to determine whats important to you. Its not up to Yamato to make things more affordable because some people cant afford it.

Here you really seem to know what it takes for some people here to purchase one... yet, why is it that you fail to comprehend that after such effort, people here could and would express being a little worn from that tiring process. Again... hey, maybe youre just the type that happily skips along to work when gas prices reach record highs because the president cares more about the "business side of things".

I apologize for the sarcasm but really, to some people who really sacrifice a larger portion of their money for this stuff, you're simplistic logic really sounds just as sarcastic.

your right, there is a big dilema between what we want and having the means to aquire it. Thats everybody in the world. People want things. If you dont have the means, then get the means. Get a better paying job. Go to school to get a better job. Start a business. If you are not willing to do what it takes, then you dont get the stuff you want. Welcome to the real world. And when you have to work hard, or sacrafice a lot, getting that valk is much more meaningful, even if its just 1 valk. Or become a Buddhist and quit wanting so much stuff. Less is more.

heh heh, you sound like Tony Robbins. ^_^

  17. Although I agree with protoplast's argument technically, I think it's just wrong to say something in the realm of what lord kung fu is saying...

"Dont like the price, dont buy it, simple... shut up and dont bitch and moan."

As much as people have the choice and right to just avoid buying valks, they have every right to express the pinch they feel in their wallets. Ferarri's, hdtv's, global economy.... all that aside, people are dropping $150 on average for one of these things. As grown men, I think it's only natural for us to slip into fiscal consciousness once in while and realize "DAYYAMM, I paid $150 for a bloody transforming toy?!"

Everyone in here is macross fan but everyone here is NOT in the same financial state... hence, the variety of reactions regarding price... Hell, even within the common trait as fans there are varied levels of devotion.... Given that, what is the fan with the greatest love of macross (among us) with least amount of money going to do? Just say "Nah, I'll just simply pass"? B))

Things aren't always just easy like that... infact it's the always-present dilemma between want vs having the means to acquire it. Don't tell me you've NEVER sighed because you couldn't get what you want, or you did but it cost you an arm and a leg.... :o

    it hurts...

  18. This wait for the late April/May release is killing me... and no new pics to satiate us  :(

    377650

Yamato and the good folks in MW who took pictures, pretty much covered all angles of the vf-0s already. :)

I hope we get pics of the vf-0a soon, and possibly the vf-0d. that'll get people salivating some more...

When and if they bring out pictures of the yf-19..... I think I'll have a seizure.

  19. Combine Mowe's tan minus red armor with Dante's camo scheme...you have a winner IMO.

    Hell, it's basically a killer Destroid.  :)

    376792

yep. it looks much better without the red and lime green.

  20. So who thinks these will turn out to be Limited edition valks?

I bet if they were people would rush to them after they suddenly became hard to find. :D

Next up: Angel Birds Valks. (and the teat of the cow keeps flowing :D)

    376438

    I do.

I'm pretty sure yamato will make these limited editions.

they painted them which, by yamato standards is "like, WOah dude, it's painted~"

I'm not sure if the limited edition tag will necessarily bring the demand up though... it very well can... but the valk also has to be desirable in itself. Judging by the actual pics taken at wonderfest of both the LV.2 and stealth, it doesn't come half as close as the "cool factor" of the original LV. Its a shame though really.... the LV2 if executed 200% better would have been awesome piece.

Given Yamato almost never makes changes at this point in production (when preorders go up with pics) and judging by those wonderfest pics, the chances of change is discouraging....

Nani!?  There is a scene on the 20th aniversary disk that shows a team of GBPs on a ground mission... pretty sweet clip.

And hmm.... the LV2 just became tolerable because now you can't see it.... but I think that if you replaced the aweful lime green with light grey, this would look fantastic on the LV2 or a CF.

    376277

    :)

thanks for the pointer, I guess I should check the 20th disk out.

With the GBP 2, if they wanted to do the military ground forces "thang" they should've taken it further. Just changing a couple of the colors to olive & lime green just feels like they didn't try... If you're going to go with an idea do it right... Make it look like a mean muther f*cker that'll stomp through trees and run you over.

Right now, the color scheme reminds me of the salad I'm eating right now.
