  1. Could this be better than the Crossover Live?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-Pncr6VFEQ&feature=related And is that Minmay girl the Chinese cosplayer who used to post on here a few years back (I think her name was Dana)?
  2. I like the VF-19P. If I get another version of this mold, that'd be it, rather than the Blazer.
  3. I'm sure it wasn't, since all indication points to the episode with the VF-1D being animated way earlier than the one that was lost. By the way, for the sake of trivia, the episode which was lost was "Bye-Bye Mars", and it was left on the Chuo Line by Tatsunoko producer Hiroshi Iwata (who is not a postman), as he and director Noboru Ishiguro got off the train at Kokubunji (where Tatsunoko is still located today). Apparently they got on another train and took it to the end of the line where they inquired at lost & found, but it was nowhere to be seen. By that point there was no choice but to go back to the studio, then back to Tokyo Genzousho (in Chofu at the other side of town) to make another print and re-record and re-edit the dialogue in record time (though this may have still taken a few days). After the broadcast the reel did turn up again, it seems it had been thrown in the trash. EDIT -- It was almost "Bye-bye, 'Bye-bye Mars'". Yeah, I couldn't resist. EDIT 2 -- There was talk going around that the guy who gets killed is not a postman at all, but Kawamori himself. I don't remember where I read/heard this, though. To be honest, I haven't seen the anime in a looong time. I might have to do just that first.
  4. At last http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rHqYjjsxDcc Mr. Patrick Macias came over to Meiji University, where Professor Kaichiro Morikawa showed off some priceless (?) Shoji Kawamori original preliminary Valkyrie design sketches (skip to the 17min mark for this, though the whole thing is worth watching).
  5. Yes, this please.
  6. OK, so nobody knows. Well, let's unlock it and get back to our regularly scheduled MW speculation then, now that the VF-19kai is almost out and the realities of exploding shoulders and whatnot will be kicking in. The cycle must continue.
  7. And don't forget the Macross II one!
  8. I don't know why they don't use it more, but they are not incapable because they have used it in some boxes in the past, here's the 1/48 GBP box:
  9. Translated: ...Anyway, the pilot figure this time is, of course, a "Basara" figure! And in a tank top! Why a tank top, you ask? Well, it's a combination of "we just felt like it" and a "we're sick of seeing the stage outfit all the time" backlash. We are mulling over a stage outfit version to include with either some other fighter or something else.
  10. Yeah, it says it's the thruster design that was used in only one shot of the movie.
  11. Is that what we have to look forward to in a DYRL BR, then? Grain? I don't see that being a selling point, somehow. I want to see more background detail, etc. Unfortunately, the only way to see it now would be to track down the original background art, most of which is probably destroyed. Well, people here weren't too thrilled about the "HD Remaster" DVDs they put out in 2009.
  12. OK, then. One thing I noticed last night... Hidetaka Tenjin is notably absent from this book.
  13. Yeah, you're right. Excellent. That's because the Hi-metal's feet have a narrower range of motion. Not a problem in battroid, but the Gerwalk suffers.
  14. "Macross DYRL on bluray would be amazing"... if done properly. I hear Wings of Honneamise and some others look better on DVD.
  15. Huh, I don't remember those sketches being in the articles. I remember the interviews and illustrations, though. Were there more sketches than shown here or was that it?
  16. The shoulder hinges look die-cast.
  17. Slimmer, sure, but I thought the VF-11 was supposed to be shorter? Hmm. Well, I don't know. With the VF-17 coming, it's real exciting to finally get all the main M7 valks together. I remember looking on the side of the 1/144 model kits and seeing all these new valks, it was amazing. Now FINALLY they are becoming a perfect transformation reality. EDIT -- Yeah, according to the pic m0n5t3r posted, it IS supposed to be smaller. EDIT 2 --By "The YF-19 always looked terrible to me in Battroid," I am actually referring to the Yamato 1/60 toy, not the actual design itself. Sorry if this caused confusion.
  18. Those photos look awful. It looks just like the 1970s Japanese Spider-man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcxioU7AMM4
  19. Yeah, and it's gonna be even weirder if the VF-11 looks lankier than the Kai. But, what the hell. The YF-19 always looked terrible to me in Battroid.
  20. Amazing. The sticker sheet is incredible with all the customizing options they're throwing at you. They have the NUNS and Fire Bomber lettering, too, which means they expect you to do them up like the schemes in the VF-19 Master File. Even if you hate the design, you can't help but feel the love Yamato is pouring out here.
  21. OK, there we go, final answer, Regis/Chris.
  22. Yamato and Yamato 2 were shown again in Japan for the 30th anniversary back in 2004, and I used to watch it when I lived in Osaka. Unfortunately I had to give it up after a while because it was on at around 3 or 4am. Coincidentally, it was exactly the same deal, two back-to-back episodes on Thursdays. Man, what a killer. In fact, I think I remember it clashed with Samurai Champloo. I don't remember, that may have been Tuesdays actually .
  23. Yeah, pretty good book. The preliminary designs shown here are intriguing, I wish we could see more of them in greater detail instead of tiny sketches, apparently only used to fill up space.
  24. I had a meeting in Kanda yesterday. I arrived at the station early and for some reason went out of the wrong exit, finding myself right in front of this smallish bookshop. What the hell, I'll kill some time here, I thought. I'm glad I stepped inside because there was the book, unassumingly on the shelf. Well, I grabbed it immediately and put down my cash, forgetting to even look inside! I thought it was quite a good deal for only 1500 yen, the book is surprisingly thick. Only the day before I was checking Amazon and it had gone up to 7,000 yen. EDIT -- Just checked amazon again just now -- they're going for 9,600 now. Jesus.
