  1. Hmm. Good question. I will try to find out.
  2. A friend of mine tried that and basically got a "sorry but you're screwed" email. Yeah, but you have to look at it from both sides. By making this deal with HLJ, Yamato can still keep the exclusivity within Japan without shutting out the potential overseas consumers completely. They DO realize that Macross has a large fanbase outside of Japan, the trick is trying to get to them. It does suck for the people who used other proxy services to get the items last year, but I really think that this deal was made with the interests of the people overseas in mind. One more thing: Goddamn you, Harmony Gold.
  3. Looks alright to me. I'd rather have a kiddy-looking cartoon than a yaoi/BL-looking one. I don't see why people should complain. It's giant, primary-coloured robots, for God's sake. Give the kids a break.
  4. I don't think I follow your logic, sorry. I'm not saying I disagree, but could you please word it a little clearer? Thanks in advance. If it clears up any confusion (regardless of direct relevance), I should perhaps make it clear that HLJ's sales of these items are not applicable to Japanese residents. Therefore, if you live in Japan and want to get the VF-X or Angel Birds, your only option left (now that the Chronicle offer is over) are resellers (like Mandarake) or auctions. Same goes for the SDF-1 kit -- HLJ sells it for overseas residents only: Japanese residents have to go through Yamato's website (or, again, resellers/auctions).
  5. Nope, AFAIK they were Mac-Chronicle exclusives only, they never did a web-exclusive run.
  6. It's still an exclusive -- apparently Yamato are bending the rules for the overseas fans and allowing HLJ to distribute it outside Japan. The same deal with the web-exclusive 1/3000 kit-version of the SDF-1. People IN Japan still can't get any of these unless they buy from resellers.
  7. I paid around twice or more than that for each and every one of these games, so personally I would say that's a great deal there. Having said that, the first is the weakest in the series (still enjoyable, though).
  8. Are you sure about that? I think it was only ONE episode! It certainly was not 30...
  9. Heh. "They". It's just MEMO talking to himself. Is that all that's left of the fanbase these days?
  10. I think the reason people are saying that this info is not in the show is because the viewer has to piece this history together bit by bit over the duration of the entire series. There is no single exposition episode that says "OK, here we go, here's what happened". And I actually commend the series for that. I think it's because there are no Sound Energy converters, Sound Boosters, etc. I don't remember. It's not as if they weren't affected at all, though, their equipment always got weird readings, and it certainly affected Syvil adversely, but that was more because she was somewhat perversely attracted to it. I really have to go back and rewatch it again, I'm forgetting a lot...
  11. I was going to scan the page from the Chronicle, but I decided to check online first to save me the trouble, and luckily it popped up in somebody's blog, so actually it was nothing!
  12. They also included a decal to act as the background to the city block! It seems they patched together some of the cityscape art from DYRL -- which means they may have even just copied Kyekye's idea!!
  13. The Basara is from the CMs Macross Collection Series 2, and the Mylene is one of the "Live of Legend" figures, the other being Minmay. Minmay's base connects to Mylene's so you can have them both on stage at the same time: All these figures are from around 2004, though.
  14. If you opened up the intakes all you would see would be the hinges and swing-joints (groovy!), so there would be no room for any engine detail. Hence they left them glued shut.
  15. Heh. This phrase made me think of Robotech fans as "Rapture" cult members, with Kevin/Tommy being Harold Camping telling them that "something big is coming! You just wait! All will be revealed!" Wait, did we already talk about this?
  16. I just listened to this and I finally see what you mean. It is pretty bad, sound-wise, so you have to shift the volume every so often. But of course we are still finding our legs, and any small amount of feedback will really benefit the end product, so please let us hear what you think! Is there anything you guys want us to do? EDIT - Yeah, I am loud, apparently. I think I've subconsciously got my "lecture" voice on for most of the time, only sometimes slipping into normal conversational voice. I'll work on it.
  17. Cool, I'd like to see the rest of the book! Thanks, Danth!
  18. Yeah, I keep saying to people that it's not blood. Those tiny little baby whales near the end of the episode come from somewhere.
  19. No, it was July. Which of course means August...
  20. I think it's that way for the yellow on the Fire Valkyrie (as can be seen in the model kit artwork and original Bandai 1/65 toy, which show gold shoulders/ankles), but not for the stripes on the VF-17S, mostly because I think it's a given that they are a recall to the tradition of the S type typically having yellow stripes.
  21. From Kev's profile on the blog No, I didn't! How can we hate someone who provides us with so much comic entertainment for free? "Space Angel", maybe?
  22. What?? I don't get this at all. 1- People here OWN cels from anime. 2- If they're terrible at keeping master tapes, how on earth could they track down cels? 3- FB2012 is almost 25 years old.
  23. I don't think he's the one who draws the cels, you know... Seriously, though, what do you mean? The Saturn audio could just be re-used and as far as I remember Hikaru wasn't even in the marriage scene. EDIT -- I should add that I don't think any re-animation is going to happen, and nor would I want it to, especially FB2012: there is no way you can improve upon that.
  24. I actually just got the Blazer a couple of days ago. I may have to dig up the old thread, but did anyone have any problems with the head? It seems the back of the head really impedes movement, and forces the chin to scrape the black paint on the nosecone; this wasn't a problem on the Kai. I guess I may have to sand down the back of that "helmet". In fact, I think the head design is totally off. Apart from that, it's quite a nice toy, though.
  25. Both. It is an official design from Flashback 2012, made into a kit by a fan.
