  1. What the hell?? They raised it! Is that the price for the ability to attach in Fighter? (I'm betting that was a last-minute addition which would also explain the delay) Yeah, right. Some people's Battroids won't stand up under their own weight anymore because of those infernal ankle ball-joints, so "pass the salt, please".
  2. To be fair, I had the same feeling of "why the hell am I wasting my money on this sh** again??" as I was walking in to the second Macross Frontier movie. But that one was totally worth it. So I figure I may as well give this one a chance. Then again, I might just be walking out hating myself, like "fool me thrice, shame on my entire being". This movie won't be out for another month over here, so I look forward to spoiler-free reviews, please.
  3. Yay. If only I could have won a Sound Booster just for guessing that right. Anyway, it's great to see that it does attach in Fighter!! I've always liked the way that looks, and you can sort of do it with the Hi-Metal if you fiddle about with the stand attachments (I put up pics of it in the relevant thread).
  4. That's because of the joint that shifts the hip position.
  5. The one that was "easy to get" was the baby-blue-coloured FAST pack set, with the kind of mint green/white valk. That was an after-thought release that looked awful compared to the original VF-25F release with the original web-exclusive FAST packs. Honestly, I wouldn't b surprised if they pulled even more similar crap this time. They even made the Hi-metal Hikaru VF-1A an exclusive, along with the rest of the 1A's: at this point I think they have as many exclusive items as regulars.

    SCOOP thread!

Bandai is planning a return to the 1/60 VF-25 DX Chogokin -- this time without suckiness, hopefully. Details here: http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-157827-1-1.html Thanks to MWer ff95gj for the link. Discussion here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35195

  8. Yes, and they are priced accordingly. Bandai are apparently going to re-do the VF-25, though, with improvements.
  9. Please tell me, where exactly is this magical place where you pay less for more?! (Don't say Inverness or something random like that!) Edit -- I guess somewhere in Sussex?
  10. I like how the past two pages of this thread have been about nothing. This truly is the Seinfeld thread. I really, really hate to bring this thread back on topic, because 2 years on I'm still sour from Revenge of the Fallen, but there's a new TV spot online which shows Bumblebee transforming with Sam inside, while driving down the highway. That's one of the things I wanted to see in the first movie, but was quite disappointed we didn't get. Maybe this new one will be good, after a terribly lackluster attempt, like the Macross Frontier movies (the second was the TRUE movie, the first was "here, have this while we work on the real movie"). I still don't know if I want to gamble my cash just to find out, though. They are getting progressively worse.
  11. Most people in Japan haven't. Looking at the box... "VALKIRIE"??? Jeeeesus CHRIST.
  12. OK, I think we can be sure these new toys will at least look decent this time. Now all that worries me is 1) Price. Something tells me they won't be revisiting the 10,000 yen mark of the original DX25; they'll likely be following the Yamato model of gouginess. 2) Those f***ing ball joints. Somehow I don't see these going away, because even Yamato has been somehow fooled into thinking they're a good idea. They're good for 3-4 transformations and then you can forget about participating in that "Strike a pose!" thread. Seriously, they have got to go. 3) Would they go back and re-visit the Armour Pack Ozma? I avoided the original but if this one looks good and is sturdy.... I think I'm asking too much. But then, I'd be paying too much, so fair's fair.
  13. I'm "plus-one-ing" this post. Who's that?
  14. Well, they owe me 50 yen for the stamp I put on the questionnaire postcard I sent back to them. Q: "What would you like to see in the magazine in the future?" My A: "Less crap." Their A: "Then ya gets NUFFIN'!!" (Apparently)
  15. I phoned Kadokawa today. It's confirmed: Mac Ace is on "hiatus", its future is unclear but it definitely won't be out this weekend. BTW, publishers seldom announce that mags have been cancelled officially. Technically Animec and Out are still on hiatus... 20 years on.
  16. Thanks for the info. I'll be in the UK again for a few weeks soon and I had felt out of the loop for a while, so it's nice to at least get an idea of how things seem to get from bad to worse. Speaking of facebook, I still don't have an account (despite many friends asking me to join) precisely because of stories like the one you just told me. I've been on the fence about it for so long, but I still haven't found a decent enough reason to justify it.
  17. I remember someone got fired a couple years back in the UK for obnoxiously dissing Argos, whom they were working for, online. And I think they tried to appeal against that decision! I don't get that -- if you're openly bad-mouthing your employer, they're under no obligation to keep you on.
  18. I get the analogy, but I can't believe you just compared War & Peace with Transformers comics.
  19. Updates on how people's Kais are holding up? Mine no longer stays on the launch-arm stand in Fighter mode, which sucks. It's just too back-heavy, and so the whole body separates from the attachment piece.
  20. I really didn't notice the 3D in Avatar. I felt totally ripped off because people said it was really amazing, but I still don't get what the big deal is. It looked just like a random computer game to me. I still think Jurassic Park beats most of these recent computer movies in terms of convincing effects. EDIT -- I just remembered the last 3D thing I ever enjoyed: Captain EO.
  21. While I do think the price is steep, I like it a lot more than I was expecting to, after hearing MP10 was going to be nothing more than another Prime. I certainly prefer the looks of this Optimus much more than the original one. I never liked the head of MP1, it always looked wrong to me, and the truck mode was not convincing enough. Apart from the price, I don't see anything to complain about. I didn't want to get this because I cannot really justify another OP, since I have MP1, Hybrid Style Convoy, G1 Convoy reissue, Revoltech Convoy and Henkei Prime, but I am really liking the looks of it.
  22. Thanks. We actually recorded one more the day that this one was uploaded, it should be up in the near future. To be honest, I'm not sure what the advantage of doing a live cast is, unless we were broadcasting from some event of sorts, and even then the logistics would be a bit of a headache, I imagine. Though if people could suggest raison d'etres and methods of feasibility, I personally would be interested in trying out new things. Can't speak for the others, though. As for the speaking over each other thing, IIRC the second podcast is much better in terms of that because we are kind of "specialized" in different things so for that episode we basically took turns to report on different topics. I hope it is still interesting and entertaining to listen to, though!
  23. I guess he figured since the OP said he had waited a decade for a YF-19 toy, he could wait another year for a response to a query. That's your opinion, perhaps you would like to point out exactly what you mean by the 1/55s having more "hi-detail" than the Hi-Metals? I personally prefer the hi-metal VF-1's to the 1/55s, both of the 1/60 incarnations and I like them on a par to the 1/48s.
  24. I saw another doujinshi once where Kazutaka Miyatake had drawn Misa and Claudia tied up naked proper bondage-style. I think they were being raped by the Macross, too. Maybe that was also a rejected proposal.
