At the end of the day, it actually makes sense to build upon a design that works, and even Yamato in turn straight out copied Bandai's effort by putting in those plastic filler blocks for the backs of the legs. Though I have no hard evidence, there are signs that Bandai reverse-engineered their Hi-metal VF-19kai from Yamato's 1/60 YF-19. Especially if you take a look at some of the in-production photographs they ran in magazines.

That's how few people actually buy the destroid toys, and that's why Yamato decided that going through the trouble of manufacturing another shelf-warmer is not the most lucrative thing in the world. This kit is for the already hardcore people who want the Phalanx no matter what.

I started playing this again this afternoon, after about half a year (maybe more!). I was surprised that I hadn't even completed all the timelines in campaign mode. I was also surprised that I hadn't yet gotten the VF-19P. What are you supposed to do to get this valk?

YES! I've wanted the VF-19P for ever, and at last, somebody is making it. I still have a spare 1/144 kit that I was planning to customize into a P-type at some point, but I will gladly pick up this toy with no regrets or hesitations.

Thanks. It's not really that convenient, though, since the angle makes it easy for the posters to just droop off. BTW I have that Macross Plus poster back in the UK, I love it, most of the Plus ones have this really stylish aesthetic going on.

Actually, mine is printed on a thick board that I suppose they used for promotional store displays back in the day, the problem is I have no idea where to put it. Well, you can still get it if you look hard enough, "out of production" items are really not that big of a deal these days.
