Haha, "MINMAY YOU ARE TEARING ME AAPAAART!!"

I agree with most of your points with the exception of your listing Klan in amongst the likeable characters of MacF. However, I should point out that the scorn within this thread is mostly brought about by Harmony Gold's "business practices" than how bad a show Robotech may have been -- though of course the former certainly tarnishes people's attitudes to the latter.

Kicker773, is that your collection? Is there a photo of that blue and white 19 from a different angle? I would not buy another YF-19, at least not in the standard scheme. Maybe if they made cooler original schemes, the Double Nuts or whatever weren't really exciting enough. The current 1/60 does leave a lot to be desired, but I personally hate getting doubles of things. I try to avoid double-dipping, that's why I only have two 1/60 v.2 VF-1's: The 1D and the VE-1; my Hikaru 1S is in 1/48, Roy 1S is in 1/55, Max 1A is a 1/60 v.1, etc... Not to mention Yamatos get more expensive with every release, that I'm not sure if I'll get the 17, and if I do it will likely be my last valk.

What ever happened to MW Co-Founder Shawn?
Renato replied to Shaorin's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
Shawn's a cool guy, but from what I know he's really busy and he doesn't have as much interest in the newer animated stuff as in the old-school, original Macross show and merchandise, so it's understandable he would not post about that. That said, I think I did see quite a recent post of his commenting on some photos of vintage items in the Collector's forum. Most importantly, he's the one paying the bills for all of this. -
It was revealed at the promotion event for Bandai-Namco's MF Movie 2 Hybrid Pack, at the Tokyo Game Show.
-
Yeah I did, I think it's in the Fire Bomber thread in the Movies & TV forum.

I got button cells in my G2 Prime, too (I bought it new back in the day). I always found it weird that because of the space for the two AAs, it was just a big empty box. Actually I never replaced those batteries, either. I think my brother has it now.

I used to read AnimeUK/FX, too. I like that they obviously knew their stuff and they didn't just talk about things that were readily available domestically. There was a guy on Youtube called TeamGetter who used to put up tons and tons of hard-to-get 80s shows like Galient and Plawres Sanshiro (much too frequently for me to keep track of!), but unfortunately Bandai Visual kicked him off quite recently. Danth, if you're serious about that site, let me know when it's set up and I may contribute with some info, since I have a fair bit of data from that period.

What I meant was that his work entailed "redesigning", not "designing [from the ground up]", as some believe.

Hey, Area88, sometimes these days I think it's just people like me and Danth left... I'm sure there's more of us, though. I love your site, but I agree you need more stuff. I'll tell you what I'm watching now: "Hoshineko Full House", directed by Noboru Ishiguro "Phoenix 2772: Ai no Cosmozone", based on the manga by Tezuka "SPT Layzner": Did anyone EVER finish subbing this? Rare stuff you might want to look out for: "DAIMAJUU GEKITOU: Hagane no Oni": Pre-MacrossII Koichi Ohata designs (including an uber-powerful Gigamesh) battle it out. "Ladius/LeDeus": Giant robots kicking ass in a fantasy world. "The Humanoid": Hajime Sorayama fembots... Maybe not that rare, though? I dunno.

Actually I think he only did 1% of the job, as in the minor tasks of placing the fins on the hips, etc. The original prototype and plans were already laid out before he came onto the scene. ...Which means that IGear are mostly undoing his contributions to the design.

You have to consider that that pic is from 2001 (apparently). The general standard for Japanese-styled fan-art has dramatically improved since then; I am always astounded at what the kids can do these days. Ten years ago I could have sneered at this pic and arrogantly said, "Bleah, I can do much better", but now I no longer have that confidence...

So you're saying Tommy Yune is gonna rip off Soylent Green next?

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Renato replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Actually, you will notice that photos of the toy in Battroid mode were kept under wraps until the very last minute. In fact, until the movie actually premiered no-one knew exactly what the Battroid was going to look like, because Kawamori wanted to keep the built-in twin cannon turret feature a secret. That is why none of the magazines mentioned it except in vague hints until the weekend the movie came out. They don't really have scoops in this industry, every article is based on a deal with a manufacturer, so they cannot talk about anything unless they get given the go-ahead by the big corporations, and Bandai and Satelight planned every step of the PR process extremely tactfully to maximize profits. -
A picture of an ingenious, fan-designed F-22 robot has been posted on these forums many times. I think the designer was a member here? Anyway, it was really well done. Does anyone have it? Of course, actually engineering a toy out of that design is something else entirely, but it shows a perfect transformation is possible.

Another great bonus! I'm kind of in the same boat. I have had the PS2 game for years now but to this day I do not own a PS2, so I've only ever played it a few times using other people's consoles. Still, I remember clearing both TV and movie campaigns, it's a pretty easy game. So don't worry too much about it, you might be disappointed if you expect too much out of it. The PSP ones are much better. I'm looking forward to the PS3 version, though.

Thanks, I finally got the 19P this morning. You were right, I had to S-rank the final Zola mission, which I just could not do with any of the mecha from that period. So what I did was try to get the few remaining B-ranked missions into A's or S's in the hope that that would unlock the era limiter, and it did. So I then used Klan's VF-25S to go back and S-rank that Zola mission, and voila, 19P. Phew. Now to do the VFX-2 missions.
-
But the complete edition is 3 discs.
-
Thanks, but nope, it's got to be something else because I have done that. And anyway, it couldn't have been that because the VF-19P is from Dynamite, not "normal" M7.
-
Why does it say "Gunbuster 2"?

Shoji Kawamori "created" Macross: load of bull?
Renato replied to danth's topic in Movies and TV Series
That likely wouldn't have happened anyway: Ishiguro in general hates doing sequels. Notice he also opted out of Megazone 23 Part II. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
Renato replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
By "boosted up version" I suppose you mean one with the Song Energy Convertor backpack thingy? Yeah, I'd go for that. We know that Yamato can do great poseable figures if they want to, because I heard and saw nothing but great things regarding the Votoms Chirico and Fyana figures. Basara and Mylene rocking out together would look great. -

Except for the Zentradi power suit from DYRL, though. Izubuchi re-interpreted Miyatake's TV original for the movie version. The English Wikipedia page on him is just a bare-bones profile and doesn't mention it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yutaka_Izubuchi But the Japanese one does: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%87%BA%E6%B8%95%E8%A3%95#.E3.83.87.E3.82.B6.E3.82.A4.E3.83.B3.E3.83.AF.E3.83.BC.E3.82.AF.E3.82.B9 (edited for clarity) -
Yes and no. The J-type was a special variant developed in Japan with specific tunings, but there is no mention of other similar types in other countries.
