  1. If you go over to the picture gallery thread, you will lose all your money in an instant, though, so these forums cut both ways...
  2. That head is just too cool fo' school.
  3. Small? I'm no expert but I cannot see the production run being anywhere near that number at all. I would imagine 10,000 being the absolute highest, and even then I'm being quite generous. If I recall correctly, Yamato made only 1,000 VF-11C's and 800 VF-22S Gamlin valks for the first run. Granted that was M7 merchandise, a show which has zero recognition these days compared to Frontier, but still, the target consumers have a large overlap.
  4. From the first episode he ignored calls to stay in shelters and rushed out into the battlefield. If that's not rising to the occasion, what is? Also, watch episode 5 where he's harassed all the time by biker chicks calling him a wuss singing sissy songs while they live life on the edge, until they witness him putting his life on the line.
  5. No, that was Dynamite 7. VFTF1 is talking about the middle part of M7, when Basara is disillusioned because he thinks perhaps singing doesn't solve everything like he thought it did, so he refuses to sing. Eventually Gigil, Mylene and Gamlin track him down urging him to sing, but it's only until Sivil takes Gigil and Basara across the stars that he finally realizes he's not singing for anyone in particular but the galaxy itself. Honestly sometimes I think only 3 or 4 people here have watched this. Those are basically the lyrics of "Try Again"... You could say she only managed to do that because Basara taught her.
  6. Excellent! France Gall! I didn't know Gainsbourg wrote "Laisser tomber les filles", that's really cool.
  7. All you need to do is compare the 1/60v2 to the 1/48. 1/48 got it right, 1/60 looks wrong.

    VF-1SOL

More like almost two decades. Remember we're in 2011 not 2001, and Scambled Egg Valks came out in 1993, I believe! Regardless, I'm glad someone is doing this. Need to see the Fastpack/soundbooster, though!!
  9. I bought one of his old comics recently, the robots look very Megazone-inspired. Not bad.
  10. Well, it affected him enough to question why he sings since no one seems to care and he can't move anyone or thing like he believed he could, and thus do some soul-searching for a whole story arc, after which he witnesses the depths of the galaxy, comes back, and finds his reason to keep on singing, his faith re-established. Has anybody actually watched this show??! Except Lynn Kaifun was a hypocrite because he wanted peace, love and unity, but then turns around and beats up everyone who disagrees with him. He wanted to run cities his way but had no clue about how to go about doing it. "I will be the one to handle things now, you warmongers! Hey, you, town mayor, listen to me, I know what I'm talking about" and then, boom. Basara in the same position, would have just walked away, he's not gonna chat to them about politics, he's just there to rock out and ignore logic. He's not a self-aggrandising alcoholic. Like I said, he is true to himself, which is something few people, myself included, can claim to be. Again, since he is a cartoon character, it might be easier for him, though. Have you ever heard Tenacious D's "City Hall"?? That's basically Kaifun right there.
  11. You speak as if there was a shortage of that particular opinion on these forums last year....
  12. Yeah, people do that ALL THE TIME on this forum, it was infuriating and I don't call out anyone anymore because when I did once or twice they just didn't seem to get it. OK, yes, but it wouldn't exactly be "the same pose", though. I'm in a rut because I like both types but I know I cannot afford two of these. Actually, I doubt I can afford one, so my problem might be solved, depending on what mood I'm in.
  13. I like him for the simple fact that I've never, ever seen any character like him before or since. He is truly unique. Yeah, he is annoying, but if he wasn't, that would not create the conflict between the characters in the series which to me is the most interesting aspect. He's neither the war hero soldier, nor the wise old "ah, the senselessness of war" mentor-type character. He's here to rock, and he thinks that people can get along just as long as they give in to the beat, instead of bothering to rationalize everything. I would not really care about the show if Basara was just a UN Spacy pilot saying "yessir, we will defeat these monsters for our country" while being in a band on the side. Mospeada did that, Dancougar did that, and every other Macross show pretty much did that in some way. To me, he's likeable BECAUSE he gets on everyone's nerves, just like in real life. He doesn't go with the flow, he sets out his own path, and sometimes he screws up, sometimes not, but he's got that nomad thing going on, where even after he saves the universe he's all "whatever, gotta find something new to do now". If he was a sell-out hypocrite I would not like him. Even if I disagree sometimes with his attitude, I admire that he's always depicted as being true to himself. I mean, come on, "John Lennon and his Flying Giant Robot"? How can anyone hate this show?? Oh, and DISCLAIMER: it's just a cartoon, anyway.
  14. I have both and I think it's the newer HD Remaster that is better. It doesn't look as vibrant as the Remastered Macross 7 series (which looks amazing, almost as if you were looking at the cels themselves), but it's much better than the old release in my opinion, as I picked out many details I never noticed before.
  15. The reason is that the Yamato VF-19 "shrinks" in Battroid. You could always just keep the hip hinges in the elongated position on the VF-19. It doesn't really look that odd, really.
  16. By omitting it outright, I predict.
  17. Once or twice. Most of the ones I have owned have issues right out of the box -- VF-11C, SV-51, Proto-Garland, etc. Which is just as well, because Bandai, Yamato and Takara all (usually, there have been exceptions) request that you send the toy back to them and they will either send you a new one or send it back to you fixed, and thus I still have the packing box lying around. But yeah, three times out of five, I've opened the box in my house, taken the toy out, and five minutes later I'm on the phone with the manufacturer. Apart from that, I used to transform my valks all the time, several times a week. No problems develop, though. These days a lot of them are either in storage or just gathering dust on my shelf, which I think is much worse for them than constant handling, unfortunately . I have modeller friend with a lot of expertise in toys and figures, and he warns me of leaving my toys untouched for too long. Friction joints and areas of tension tend to warp over time, or something, and if imperfections develop in the more complicated Yamatos, transforming them normally after a long period of time could stress the materials enough to crack them. My Proto-Garland is an excellent example of this. The figure has broken in many, many places, it's a joke. Yet I never heard of anyone having any issues with it. The reason is that I bought it new, earlier this year, even though it came out in 2006 IIRC. That means it has been stuck in that box for half a decade. As soon as I touched it, it crumbled! Actually, that is an exaggeration, but you get the idea. Moral of the story: Play with your toys, lest they become suicidal!
  18. I'll be watching this for Natsuna and nothing else .
  19. I just noticed yesterday that my Revo Prime came with a chunk of the foot missing. Sigh...
  20. I have mine on the dark blue Yamato Launch Arm stand and it holds surprisingly well. I have it in Battroid mode with the Sound Boosters in a dynamic pose.
  21. He was credited under a different name, but it's him. He also played Dr. Whatley on Seinfeld! While we're on the subject of Isamu Dyson, for the English dub on Episode 4 of the Japanese DVDs he was played by David "Solid Snake" Hater..
  22. I never had breakages in the legs, but the arm ones looked pretty much the same as yours do.
  23. I just got it today, and I'm quite pleased with it, for the 3000 yen it was. Some joints (shoulders) are tight and some are not (feet). I think all the weapons are ridiculous if you put them all together like they suggest you do. I would much rather have two blades and two guns than the five guns and the single blade you do get. There's no alternate "mouth" face, either, but I wouldn't have used it anyway. Overall, nice figure, shame about the lack of useful extras. Though one blade is better than none. I like it -- Not sure how people who pay more than I did would rate it, though.
  24. Bleah.
  25. I'll believe it when I see it... And by that point I'll be broke. EDIT -- I forgot I'm also planning to get the VF-19P!! Well, that's it, any new YF-19 is definitely off the cards now, there's just no way!
