Thanks, I must have missed that... I suppose I guessed correctly, then! -
Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Renato replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm sure materials and manufacturing costs are going up for them (Yamato), too, so the price is likely a reflection of that. I don't like it, either, but things are gonna get worse before they get better. -
Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD

Sucks for that guy but I think it's hilarious! He got "strip-trolled"! They must have put that in as a joke or something. Although shouldn't that mean that some people got strips with portions of movie trailers and stuff? Maybe some people got clips of Iron Man II or Harry Potter or something. -

Heh. Yeah.... It's nice to introduce the good guys as a bunch of instigators. I may have mentioned this before, but on Youtube there was a camrip of the first 10 minutes and during this scene, a little boy can be heard asking "What are they doing?? Are they bad??" -
Thanks for putting this up. I'll speak to my friend about hosting options, and perhaps more efficient compression.

Starship Troopers: Invasion - New SST Anime
Renato replied to VT 1010's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Perhaps you are right, but the way I understood it, Ron Friedman wrote the first draft which was way longer and totally different to the final movie except in key points, and Flint Dille basically re-wrote it into what we know today. Dille's official credit remains "Story Consultant" because it was in Friedman's contract that he should get sole writing credit no matter what. Then again, I don't know exactly how accurate this is, though it would be interesting to find out.- 121 replies

Heh. I saw those Armored Ozuma's reduced to 8000 yen brand new in a store and I did think about it for a good 5 minutes or so, but afterwards I just wanted to spit on them. IF they release a v2 Armored Ozuma and IF it turns out to be any good, I MAY consider it.... But I'm still staying away from these releases for a while. Off-topic: So... is "afterwards" not a word, or what? It's underlined in red. I know "afterward" is a word, but I thought they were interchangeable.

Starship Troopers: Invasion - New SST Anime

Hidetaka Tenjin has announced his involvement in the production, though it is not yet clear to what extent -- he did however do the main illustration which is currently making the rounds: http://www.starshiptroopersinvasion-movie.com/about.html Also, take note that the script is being handled by Flint Dille, of Transformers THE Movie fame. The problem I have with all these 80s kids' franchises being given a new lease of life due to the advent of CG is that for some reason, people think the material deserves a grown-up retelling, when most of the time it doesn't, and usually the material will not translate well to a grown-up mindset anyway. "The unthinkable has happened -- Votron has failed; King Zarkon has won"?? Oh my God, these WORDS!! They shunned the kid audience with the whole set-up and they lost the adult audience there, so it just leaves the die-hard Voltron fans to enjoy this. Great, if that's what they wanted, I guess.

OK, so I just got back from a production announcement of a new anime called "Rinne no Lagrange: Flower Declaration of Your Heart". For the last couple of months, most of the (very little) PR had been centred on art featuring the three main girl characters, giving the impression that this was going to be just another schoolgirl moe show with maybe a bit of fantasy stuff thrown in. Turns out it's a major giant transforming robot kick 'em up. And not only that, the robot designs which were finally revealed to the public just a few hours ago, are done not by an anime mecha designer, but by NISSAN designers. Having only seen the first episode so far, it's obviously early days yet, and of course there are a lot of modern anime tropes here which really aren't my thing, but I definitely see potential in this show and those who know me know that I am not very easily impressed. Names which may be familiar to Macross fans such as Hiroshi Onogi and Megumi Nakajima are also involved, in scriptwriting (some episodes, though not the whole series) and theme songs, respectively. There is a bit of a wait until it begins airing yet, but I feel this show ought to be hyped a bit, if only for the unique designs and the way they animate them, so I'm putting this topic here to have at least some discussions on what we see here. http://lag-rin.com/ http://www.nissan.co...INMENT/LAG-RIN/ I will give more information soon, sharing my notes from the presentation and also some materials which I have. -Edited for spelling

New Famitsu is out with really interesting never-before-seen new images! I would scan them, but some people might think of them as spoilers (I don't consider them so, but don't want to risk it), and I'm not familiar with the new forum software to know how to put spoiler tags and get it right first time, so this is just a heads-up. -
So what is going on with these forums at the moment.

May I suggest a selectable optional "lo-fi version" skin (for things like PSP browsers) that works properly? The current one no longer allows you to jump to a certain page of a topic, so you're stuck with having to go through each page one by one. Thanks in advance -
Apparently it aired in Singapore and someone upped it onto Youtube. It's not on in Japan yet (even though the studio Polygon Pictures is here in Tokyo), and I'm not gonna wait for that because it will likely be butchered to hell. Rumours of a movie in the works, though.

The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
Renato replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
??? "Perfectly"? The guy was more merciless than Megatron. They should update his motto to: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings... so let me exercise my freedom to blow you all away, conveniently ceasing your sentience. Sayonara, suckers." BOOM. -
Yeah, the original name was the Megaroad, but when it was pitched to Big West, the head of BW, Yoshimasa Ohnishi, wanted it to be changed to "Macbeth". Edit-- Not "Muck-beth", BTW.

For "Spy Grand Strategy"? OK, so the clue is in the way I did it. I used Google to translate the English into Japanese, then Excite to translate back to English. Google nowadays translates the titles of the more famous movies and books into the title as it's known in the region of the target language. Therefore, what we end up with here is the actual transliteration of the Japanese title for this certain work. Damn, that's what I was gonna guess!

OK, I see what people are saying about the kids now. I personally don't agree, I think they're handled really well, but it's nice to see that there is some reasoning behind the rage. OK, I just watched the season finale. Good stuff.

But why do you not like the kids? Are they just simply annoying? This is starting to sound like the most intense case of inexplicable fan-hate ever..
