  1. As I say, I'm willing to do it if we can actually add something. To that end, it's best to do it in several installments: tackle Takatokus first, then Bandai, then Yamato, etc. By now there is a fair bit of documentation floating around regarding the development of the 1/55 in particular, so if we could incorporate those resources to talk about the history of these things, then yes, it's well worth doing it. I have plenty of Figure Oh issues that will come in useful if that's an option. It's not so fun to just talk endlessly about breaking shoulder joints. Again, not knocking the ScreamMan, but he did it and it's there, so I would just like to avoid redundancy. PS: CDX is down, what happened? I don't know but HE'S VOICED BY OOTSUKA AKIO!!
  2. It really is. Normally that would prompt me to think that they must be doing SOMETHING right. Alas, it remains a mystery.
  3. Well, in that case, Final Outpost accomplished much more in 1995 than the Robbytech LAM project has in the... what, four years and counting? More? I can't even keep track.
  4. OK, here we go. Instructions for "2036" (notice Kamjin's eye): Instructions for "Eternal Love Song":
  5. Even with regards to Final Outpost on its own, there is evidence that the project at least got into the pre-production stage proper, design aesthetics notwithstanding. Can the same can be said about the RT movie? Is there really a script out there, or just an outline/treatment? Ice cocoa, please.
  6. Here's most of the stuff we talked about. You can put this on the CollectionDX page for your podcast if you like, VF5SS. I also added some pages from the Scrambled Valk instruction booklet, since it's quite interesting (and rare, perhaps?). I just realized, I forgot to add the PC Engine Super CD games. Argh.
  7. The legal wranglings of 2000 are the reason the Robotech franchise came back from the dead in the first place, in a vain attempt to assert their misplaced relevance. They had to somehow prove that Robotech was still alive and kicking and wasn't going to be pushed over by the Macross brand. I beblieve that if Yamato and Toycom hadn't gotten together to try and distribute valks in the US there would be no Shadow Chronicles. Discuss.
  8. Why did it need non-removable intake covers stuck on in the first place? Alex pryed his right off and there is ample room for intake detail in there. It's a sad fact that the closer to perfection Yamato reaches, the larger their shortcomings seem. The worthless stand attachment for Fighter mode, the loose ankles, the unremoveable intakes, and yes, the chest gap, all play their part in detracting from a really fantastic toy.
  9. I already have that, of course.
  10. That's true, technically it could have been a replica (although I'm fairly certain it wasn't), but my point remains: it seems that old-school posters (and other branded items like stationery, etc.) as a whole are widely unrecognized/unwanted these days. That was not the only cheap poster I have found recently. In fact, the other day I met up with Save and he showed me a bunch of old posters that a seller was practically giving away. Gall Force, Dream Hunter Remu, Cosmo Police Justy, the lot. The guy didn't even know what they were.
  11. Over one year later, whoo-hoo!! I FINALLY got this game last week, dirt cheap, second-hand. Played it for about 30 minutes in total so far, maybe it sucks, or maybe I suck, i haven't decided yet. I have DEFINITELY been spoilt by the PSP Macross games because the valks here move like crap. I'm just so glad I have an Orguss game, though, even if it doesn't get as much love as some of the other series featured. So far I have played small sections of Macross Zero, Orguss and Frontier.
  12. I saw some DYRL posters going for 1000~2000 yen not too long ago. Due to a combination of waning interest and increasing lack of knowledge as the consumer base shifts, a lot of this stuff is not worth as much as people may think.
  13. Jesus.
  14. That says that they are incompatible with the renewal version.
  15. I don't really like most of their car designs, either (in particular the Juke), but that robot certainly is original.
  16. I saw the trailer for this recently and it looked so good I thought it was a movie at first. So I watched the first episode today -- Not sure about the story yet but the visuals are great
  17. Nissan's page has been updated with over an hour's worth of video from the announcement press conference (pretty much the whole thing, except for the screening of the first episode, obviously). Check it out. http://www.nissan.co.jp/ENTERTAINMENT/LAG-RIN/ Oh, and Megumi Nakajima appears as a surprise guest near the end.
  18. Trailer is out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9shXjkCXsUE I know I still have to do that write-up, but give me a little more time...
  19. Yeah, I thought you would say that. I'm not really sure what you could actually add to what they said, though, unless you talk for an hour about the 1/55, another hour for the 1/48, etc. Took me a couple of days to watch the whole Legioss review, I'm watching the CDX show right now, though.
  20. I would do it but it's been done already by The Scream Man in his Fwooshcast, featuring Eugimon. I think that one was pretty comprehensive and the only things that would need to be added are the Fire Valk and the upcoming Nightmare. Oh, as for the podcast, I thought it turned out alright save for the random rambling towards the end. I don't think I made my love for Scrambled Valkyrie clear enough, though, I should have mentioned the translucency effects in the graphics, the kickass pounding music (which I have mp3s of), the relentless difficulty (even on the easy setting) and the bizarre final boss.
  21. It's funny, 'cos it's true.
  22. Bought a PS3 the other day mostly for the Torne digital TV recorder thing. For some reason, the console has already crashed (frozen actually) twice in less than 5 days. The first one was really scary because it said that if a restart is not possible, that I should re-install system software 3.72 with some disc, which of course is not included. When it works, though, the Torne interface is really very easy to use, I'm quite pleased with it. Thanks to the search system I managed to find a few programmes I would never have noticed otherwise, like reruns of Cat's Eye, Jungle Emperor Leo and some "Open University"-style programs on cosplay etc. I also played Macross Last Frontier, but I guess people are talking about that in the other forum.
  23. They're gonna bug YOU now until you spell their company's name right -- "SATELIGHT"! In the interview with Kawamori that's included as a special feature on the BR, he says that at some point during the planning stage he was thinking of making it more ambiguous, to leave Alto's fate open-ended. However, the decision was made to make it quite clear that they did indeed fold away and managed to avoid getting blown up, so we can assume they are safe and sound somewhere. He also makes a point that it was already established that the Vajra could form a protective bubble to protect humans in a vacuum, with the rescue of Sheryl by Ai-kun, thus it would follow that Alto could survive even in deep space with help from the queen.
  24. So the "Merry Christmas without you" (a beautiful title about the virtues of spite) concert is being released on BR and DVD in a few days time, and I switched on the TV the other day to find that they were showing a TV special to promote it, narrated by Aya Endou. Some interviews with May'n, Kawamori and Nakajima were featured, but I'm not sure if that content is going to be on the discs or if they were just for TV. I thought the violent (mis?)treatment of the Bandai DX valks during the DaiNamu song was particularly interesting: 20111111153059_0.bmp 20111111153127_0.bmp 20111111153216_0.bmp 20111111153226_0.bmp 20111111153243_0.bmp 20111111153257_0.bmp 20111111153348_0.bmp
  25. Which one? Scrambled Valkyrie? (And if not, WHY NOT??)
