Podcast all about the history of the 1/55 right here. http://collectiondx.com/blog/vf5ss/veef_show_episode_38_history_takatoku_vf1_valkyrie

Wow, that was quick! OK, I think I'll go over to the 1/55 thread and post this link there.

Trying to get EA Games to consider a Robotech/macross first/third pers
Renato replied to llPREDATORll's topic in Games
Aw man. Quite a while back I was asking for people who could play Ultimate Frontier with me online and nobody responded! Well, let me know when you get a new PSP, then! -
I watched it, but I didn't think it was much to write home about. The designs look weird to me, and the weak "oh, I'm so useless, I can't do anything, boo-hoo" male does nothing for me. It wasn't bad, but... blue and pink robots??

So, I got this link in the Yamato e-mail magazine. http://www.yamato-toys.com/after/supportend.html It's a list of products which are no longer covered by the Yamato customer service. This is conjecture on my part, but i would say it's likely that they are not planning reissues of any of these particular items for a long time. I'm actually surprised at how long the list is. And I'm also annoyed because I just bought a 1/24 Ingram a few weeks ago which has some minor but numerous issues and I'm kinda stuck with them now.

Or, in other words, a typical HG project planning meeting. (Hey, what's one more cheap shot for good measure? )

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

Who on here actually IS buying it? I pre-ordered, but really just to see how low the Amazon price goes. I'm going to cancel soon enough. I don't know how accurate this is, but I heard a long time ago that (some?) US stores do not carry DVDs unless they have a 5.1 track.
-
I think what he means is that none of those are "well-known" and even if they did make them, nobody would buy them at the asking price. As much as I love these things, let's face it, they're most likely gonna throw Yamato right into the red if they dare make any more. I hope in vain I'm wrong, though!

Trivia time: That cover is a scan from older published photos -- the record company threw away all of the old materials, so even if there were unreleased promo shots (which there must have been), they're all gone now. Oh Japan and your disposable culture.

smaller, yes... cheaper? not by a long shot.

Thanks for that link. The Battroid seems rather wonky and not solid at all, and I don't like the high position of the shoulders, but aside from that, the Experten kit is an ingeniously engineered piece. And at 1/100, no less. I want one! .. For free. I love that he's making ALL the accessories for it, too. I want Bandai to make this in 1/100 already. If it looks anything as good as this, even with part-swapping, it may well be my favourite Macross toy ever.

Hmm. I you want to go that route, I would say the fact that ONLY GK'ers have made the VF-4 might be considered evidence of the VF-4's obscurity. Your wording would imply that Rei Ayanami is obscure. Right, and those ARE the more recent games.

It's the head of the company. The implication is that it's Big West real-life chief Ohnishi-san's alter-ego. So if you look at the website carefully, you see that its mostly a big in-joke. The year is set to 2062 and the idea is that there is a company trying to organize the 30th anniversary celebrations. Even the photograph that they use for the office is in actual fact a photo of the building where the BigWest office is in Tokyo. And the other "staff" are kind of spitting images of BW employees. So they're just having a bit of fun... EDIT -- Just to clarify, yes, the head of the company is female. She is the daughter of Yoshimasa Ohnishi, the founder (I'm sure you've seen his name in the English credits of MacPlus and MacII).

So it seems that they are celebrating the 30th anniversary in-universe by having the Macross 29 fleet celebrate 30 years since its launch from Earth. I expect more Ranka/Sheryl concerts. Here is a summary of the description: The 29 (two-nine) was happily sailing along when it encountered an incident, and a 1/4 of its habitable area was damaged. Because of a mandate to regulate its fold energy, it has to limit its trade with other fleets to those in close vicinity. On the fleet there are plenty of content manufacturers such as video game companies and record companies etc. Anyway, here's the really important stuff I spotted: ■マクロス×渋谷パルコ マクロス30周年記念エキシビジョン 2012年ゴールデンウィーク 開催予定! There will be a Macross 30th Anni exhibition at Shibuya Parco during Golden Week. PS -- I meant to edit my first post but I pressed the wrong button and quoted it instead, making this double-post. Somebody please delete the first one!

I have one 11C and one 11B and they both have loose shields. The B is worse than the C, though. I also have a VF-19kai with crappy ankles. I traded money for them. I don't care, though, really, they're all awesome. Especially the 11s, I think they're my favourite design and I love the toy. I even like the goofy 1/72 one, too. I'm even thinking of buying that Macross The Ride green Hasegawa VF-11D kit.

Still trying to look into that, but everything is so secretive in Japan (I mean, they're f*ckin' cartoons, not state secrets! This ain't f#$%ing Wikileaks!), that I'm having a hard time piecing everything together. Anyway, let's just say that BigWest has pretty much absolute power over everything with the Macross name on it, to the point of stubbornness, and other companies actually have quite a hard time with that.

I was referring to Treatment's post of the DVD HD remasters and their order of release. He totally missed out M7. Actually, you know what? I might cancel this one and get M7 on Bluray instead. I don't think I can justify both, and I already have Macross on DVD, whereas M7 I only own on some LD and some VHS, with several episodes missing. I haven't seen the show from start to finish in about a decade. It's gonna be tough, but I think I need to make a choice here..... Bring on the details of the M7 release!
-
You forgot to include the HD remastered DVD set.

I like the REALLY old ranks (from like 10 years ago), where we used to have Valkyries. We should have a VT-1 for newbies, then escalating through VF-19s and finally up to YF-29s.
