Right, that's the problem I have with a lot of toys, actually. I even think that the Fire Valkyrie was actually supposed to have gold shoulders, not yellow... (BTW, I'm not being sarcastic!)

Why do they wait so long to release a Macross Series?
Renato replied to leading edge's topic in Movies and TV Series
Just an observation, but it seems to me that these days, Eugimon only ever posts sarcasm. Which is fine, except the person it is directed to often does not realize it is sarcasm, thus still remaining uninformed. Anyway, here: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%9E%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AD%E3%82%B9%E3%83%BB%E3%82%B6%E3%83%BB%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%83%89%E3%83%93%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A5%E3%82%A2%E3%83%AB%E3%83%96%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%80%88Vol-1%E3%80%89-DENGEKI-HOBBY-BOOKS/dp/4048706764/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1327906422&sr=8-4 -

I thought Transformers were all about what the kids want? If they want LEDs and translucent parts instead of non-gimmicky nice-looking toys, well, then that's what Hasbro are going to prioritize. Meanwhile, I think kids in Japan just don't care about TFs so the pricing and marketing reflects more of the fans' consumption trends. No?

OK, well you could always just go back and read "Macross 7 Trash", since the story is just about using and amplifying "human energy" or "spiritia" to create super-soldiers or something. Oh, and Basara is not in it.

Sorry to go off topic for a sec, and this is not directed at you specifically, but I really don't understand why it's trendy to type weird grammar phrases like I AM DISAPPOINT and OBVIOUS TROLL IS OBVIOUS or other redundancies. I get BTW and LOL for convenience but PWNED and EPIC FAIL are just... augh. I sometimes feel like I'm in a cyberspace-based, 21st century version of the movie "Clueless" with their "What-EVERR" and "'COS I'M KEEPIN' IT REAL, 'COS I'M KEEPIN' IT REAL" mannerisms. OK, rant over, back to work...

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Renato replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm watching Tiger & Bunny, which is pretty good, Aquarion Evol, which is cheesy and stooopid, and Rinne no Lagrange which is surprisingly really enjoyable so far. Also, Maison Ikkoku is on reruns and that's excellent. Edit -- Oh, and Guilty Crown, too, which is so f#$%ing incomprehensible that I totally forgot about it. -

Renato replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It is actually on my "to-watch" list (especially now that the new Super Robot Chogokin is out). But anyway, I think Daiguard and Lagrange are different shows entirely, so I don't see what you mean by simply pointing out that Daiguard did certain things before. I mean, I could invalidate every one of these threads by saying "Robots? Tetsujin did it" or even "Animation? Disney did it" if I felt like it.... -
Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Renato replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Not initially -- they had no faith in any Macross project (notice the only Mac Zero merch was by Yamato and Hasegawa), until they watched the pilot for Frontier. I heard it was only then that they started investing properly. I suspect that is why the toys didn't come out until after the show ended (actually, same thing happened with Aquarion, come to think of it), and perhaps may even explain why they seemed so rushed. -

Renato replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've only seen clips, but I was under the impression that Daiguard is more of a parody "what if" kind of scenario, to actually bring down to earth the logistics of having a giant 70s style robot fighting in a city and what that would entail, so it is trying to do a completely different thing. In Lagrange, the town is almost a much a character as the people in it, and the connection the protagonist has with it is the key difference -- whereas in Daiguard, reckless actions from the pilots causing collateral damage are considered troublemakers by the organization which has to foot the bill for it all, rather than having any kind of emotional connection to the region itself. Anyway, yeah, no "pilot angst" is a good sign. -

Renato replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I like it so far. It's cool that they used power cables and lampposts and vending machines to fight, and I like that the town itself is very much a part of the story so far. Funny how Eureka 7 (cel-animated) and Aquarion (CG) came out at the same time, and now we have Lagrange (cel) and Aquarion Evol (CG) going head-to-head. I didn't care much for E7 because of the archetypal self-pitying hero, but this protagonist here is nice and spunky, for a change. Oh and by the way: Yay. -
I always liked the Lancer II, for some strange reason. Never felt much for the Ghost, but a member here did a really nice front page pic of it a few years back which really captures the nostalgic feel. Anyway, I'm guessing these are going to be kits again...

Why not? -
Oh, dear. If people still don't know how to use the internet in this day and age, then maybe we should let that SOPA and PIPA legislation go through after all, what the hell, I don't really care anymore...

I don't think HG had anything whatsoever to do with what creative decisions are taken within Japan. -
Hey have you played Blue Knight Berserga Story for the PS1? Saw it in a shop near my house but I was wondering if it was worth 300 yen...

And here is the Matsushiro VF-1 box design that we briefly mentioned. http://s587.photobucket.com/albums/ss315/Rm407/Matsushiro%20VF-1J/?action=view¤t=DSC00417.jpg&sort=ascending#!oZZ8QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs587.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fss315%2FRm407%2FMatsushiro%2520VF-1J%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DDSC00416.jpg
