I opt for looking on the bright side. TF Prime exists thanks to the financial success of the movie series. I try to ignore those movies as best I can, and just watch the Prime show, which I find is infinitely better written. If a fourth movie is going to continue to provide the funds for more TF Prime, I don't mind so much. I will not buy any movie product, be it tickets, DVDs or toys, but I know many will, and should Prime continue because of that, I will be happy with that result. On the other hand, I have bought two First Edition Prime figures (Bulk and Cliff) and I plan on buying no more because they all look pretty bad from here on in...

So you want ponies, you want movie TFs... You basically want to destroy humanity, is what you're saying. Think of the children!!

Yes, but you didn't draw it out into a long-winded prose attack, see.Although it's kind of funny to look at Mospeada as a hypothetical "What if Macross had gone wrong?" Remember when we spoke about Takatoku and how the heads were initially going to push the "Macross" as the main mecha, not the Valkyrie (it was, after all, the title)? It seems that sort of backfired with Mospeada's Legioss.

Preorder cancelled. How dare they mess with such a classic. (I am only half-kidding -- I did end up cancelling but not because of that!)

Do you have data to back up this claim? I am inclined to believe that in the grand scheme of things the demand is rather negligible -- or else why would Yamato go the exclusive route?

Has anyone considered making a fan made Macross Game?
Renato replied to leading edge's topic in Games
I don't know anything about programming so I don't know what help I could be to any project, but I do know that apart from PC and Android, these days you can actually use the PSP as a viable platform for homebrew games even without the need of custom firmware. Several fun amateur side-scrolling shooters have already been made and distributed as free downloads. A Macross-themed one would be really good, especially since there haven't been many side scrollers that have fully incorporated the different aspects of each Valkyrie. Plus every Macross fan should already have a PSP, anyway -
Not really, I think it's quite obvious that we are seeing the effects of exactly the phenomenon you are describing: the insular shrinking market. I doubt there are new fans buying Yamato toys... except for maybe that dude that Tochiro mentioned on Facebook who just plonked down a small fortune for a VF-17. Now, Toynami on the other hand, obviously couldn't take the heat. That is why if you remember quite a while back when Toynami unveiled their plans to release VT-1s and stuff in 1/100, I was amazed that they felt they could do this, when even Bandai could not with their own 1/100 hi-metals. Now we know they can't.

Interesting. From that link, I found this: http://www.ripoffreport.com/operas-symphonies/harmony-gold-brentwo/harmony-gold-brentwood-coloni-pdb57.htm Wow.

They were in the extras on the Blu-Ray, too. I, of course, didn't go to any of those, though, because I am far too manly for that girly stuff. Giant space plane-robots should have big-chested android babes, not 11-year old schoolkids. You'll never find Admiral Hunter with fold quartz. You'll see. Any year now, you'll see Uncle's vision was right. Once the economy recovers and the boat leaves the dock... You'll see. Lying purists. But consider the predicament Yamato Toys is in.... By the way, I'm for keeping this thread. It helps keep the chaos from permeating the rest of the site and god knows you have to be at least a little up-to-date on what the Robotechies are doing, just in case...

And that remains not being a word.

It's a feature. "Exploshoulders". They should put it on the box.

Good point! In other news.... ARGH. I found a rapidly growing crack on one of my VF-1D's shoulder hinge. I guess I might be getting a reissue after all... (Although between VF5SS's new hinges and Yamato seemingly still providing service, I still might be able to salvage this guy)

I was over at the Kadokawa office last week and so had the chance to read Newtype Ace for free in the lounge, yay. I haven't been keeping up with Macross the First but it seems to have slowed down somewhat.

Banshee's First Impressions of The Galaxy is Calling Me!
Renato replied to VF-15 Banshee's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well, I don't remember well, but I think the point was that Basara and Emilia saved the town's livelihood because they managed to break the ice which was concealing a large amount of the material, or something. Also we were shown that seeds started germinating so that indicated the potential natural richness of the land in the future. Or something. Anyway, the point is that the colonists were in a rut, and now they have a brighter future. -
No, he's right, many are different shades of grey. I never got an AB, so I'm sorry I can't help.

So... they're gonna release everything in black and white now? -
In Japan, doujinshi fall into an odd area where copyright holders tend to turn a blind eye. Case in point: look at all the Macross Frontier "boys' love" yaoi porn. BigWest certainly are not giving those their blessing. Thus I don't think you should be so concerned about permission, etc., but at the same time I do not want to be the one responsible should any trouble actually occur. I'm just saying Doujin are usually fair game, and anything goes. Should you actually want to bypass the fanzine model and produce a professional, commercial book to be sold in stores, though, then that's another thing entirely.

Oh yeah, also Banshee, you should really have mentioned the subplot of the stuff that the colonists were mining. -

You said "unlike the other series" not "unlike Frontier". I agree that Frontier was not for kids. But both M7 and SDF Mac were. Then again, since this movie was a double-bill with MacPlus, that would mean that this movie was more for the 1990s Macross fans. Well, yes, it was a literal resurrection, because if you notice, the Natter-Valgo (Gawd, those NAMES..!) is kind of a sub-sentient being, seemingly using parts salvaged from Valgo's original body. They don't look 100% the same. If I remember correctly I think the Macross Chronicle had a section especially for this version, I'll have to check. -
Anybody went or going to Mylene Night #01 ~W Mylene Concert?

Chie punched Fukuyama in the shoulder at one point, for ignoring her outstretched handshake invitation. Fukuyama's "what was that for??" expression was priceless -
What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
Renato replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
You're talking about a VF-0, right? You might want to think twice before you send that off. This is a list of items no longer supported by Yamato's customer service. http://www.yamato-toys.com/after/supportend.html As you can see, most if not all of the Mac Zero stuff is on there. -

Anybody went or going to Mylene Night #01 ~W Mylene Concert?
Renato replied to Knightwing's topic in Movies and TV Series
If we had known about the Ustream in advance then maybe some people on here could have enjoyed the concert too. She seems to be a fan of Ustream but not of learning to use it effectively... EDIT -- Yes, I understand that advance notification can cut into ticket sales... I will say this: that version of DYRL is something EVERYBODY needs to experience. It started off not far off from the "Mylene sings Minmay" album version, but evolved into straight up loud, no-holds-barred, raw power ballad that would have even turned Basara into a Wayne's World "We're not worthy!" fanboy!
