This is a kit, so if you buy it, it's up to you to put speakers in it if you want them... They actually had the whole of Fire Bomber on display, even Veffidas and Ray. But they never actually said how (or if) they would market them.

The Hidetaka Tenjin Interview Project (post questions here!)
Renato replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
We briefly talked about this the other day, but you should ask about his childhood, what he experienced growing up, etc. In Valkyries vol.1 there is a small, uber-detailed sketch of a VF-1 which he apparently did in high school. It would be interesting to hear how he developed his talent to that degree. As for specific influences, he has talked about how much he admired Yoshiyuki Takani, and vol.2 goes into detail there. He has also spoken about how he grew up watching a lot of Western stuff like Knight Rider and Airwolf, so perhaps probing in that area might be worthwhile? I did actually ask him that once and his response was, "See, as far as I'm concerned, if Kawamori didn't design it, it's not a Valkyrie". Make of that what you will.... (Not to say that it's not worth asking again, of course, perhaps rephrased?) -

Cowboy Bebop. -
No, and that's what I was thinking too. However.... there IS precedent, as I just remembered the "Future Boy Conan" series box set came in two versions, one being a special limited edition featuring both 4:3 and 16:9 versions. Then again, I highly doubt they would do that with something as obscure as Macross 7, though.

If it's anything like the HD Remaster DVD Memorial Box, you should be fine. However, from what I'm reading on this board, this one is giving the impression of being produced in more limited numbers, so I don't know if that's a good gauge. To give another example, you can still find the limited box for Sayonara no Tsubasa (at least in second-hand places) -- although, again, that probably was produced in greater numbers just because it's a new movie that people don't already have multiple copies of. In short -- no idea. In my experience it's always been easy to find things like DVDs, whereas toys are rarer and rarer, even if you show up at the store on release day. However, I can see DVDs going down the same path. There're hardly any brick-and-mortar DVD stores even left, unless you include the second-hand ones.

It'll more than likely be there on the day of release.

AmazonJP never closes its pre-orders before release. At least I've never heard of such an instance. I am curious to hear their response regarding the classification as a game, though.
-
Amazon.jp has an English option somewhere, click it and most things should be automatically translated.
-
It still doesn't come up when you search, even now... If I hadn't seen the link here I don't know if I could have ordered it otherwise.
-
Yes. Everybody should do this and maybe, MAYBE, they will get one.

Isn't that conducive to a vicious circle of unavailability? Almost like the self-fulfilling prophecy where someone says a bank is going out of business so everyone takes out all their savings and the bank ends up going out of business as a result? Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you give people advice to "pre-order from as many places as you can", you are helping to create the situation wherein orders will likely go unfulfilled...

I suppose it should look better than the so-called HD Remaster DVD? I read this and I thought, "YES! At last!"... But then I remembered, my 5.1 set-up is through my DVD player, not the PS3, so that's that. I need a brand new sound system just for this feature... Argh. This is exactly what I feared, I thought that "Kawamori and Miyatake talk about the roots of Macross" description sounded familiar. Oh, well. Yay! I hope this is fairly long and informative. I own pretty much everything else...

Hmm. It kind of sucks that the special edition pack is almost twice as expensive as the normal one, but I have to have it, no ifs, buts or.... whatever the third one is. Funny, I already have two or three copies of the movie on DVD, I have all the books in this "magazine archive" thing, and I have the game on the PSP, but they polished all of these up and somehow made me want to buy it all over again. I love this movie so much I feel justified in getting it yet again.

This came as a huge shock to me, since we were supposed to meet again in February after his surgery. He was a wonderful person, it's up to us to continue his mission now. Rest in peace, sensei.

It varies from store to store, but I regularly see all of them. Coincidentally I just saw a VF-1S and 19Kai today at my local Yodobashi Camera. Oddly, they were in different sections of the store...

http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?Word=hi-metal&x=0&y=0&Dae=All&Series=All&Dis=2 The 19's are still in stock in HLJ. But then of course you cannot draw conclusively that there were low numbers because of limited overseas distribution/stock. Anyway my point is that I don't think they were as low in production as some of the other later Bandai stuff (like the invisible VF-25 Renewals). Two years on and I still see them on store shelves. Like I said, they are shelf-warmers and Bandai got wise so decided to limit the rest of Skull Squadron to made-to-order online exclusivity to minimize losses. Sad but true. Even then they never brought out the Millia 1J.

Touché.

Completely disagree. I watched all three of them on the big screen and I absolutely hated them. In fact I talked about the agony I endured on one of the MW podcasts we did a while back. Seriously, my head was pounding. I begged for mercy but all I got was relentless punishment.

Like I said, I would disagree because I still see them on shelves.

There is a thread somewhere, but you know the search function really sucks... Anyway, I like the Hi-metal VF-1's more than the Yamato 1/60 line for a number of reasons, but there are still a few issues like the loose feet on some. Still, they are negligible and for the price, I would say they are the best valks value-wise. As a whole, even though I love the concept, the Hi-Metal line is something of a failure, though. The VF-19's kind of suck -- they have odd proportions, were overpriced and accessories that should have come as standard were exclusives (FISTS, WTF?!). And the afterthought landing gear, Jesus. The VF-1's unfortunately are shelf-warmers and they made the rest of skull squadron exclusive just because. So even though they showed a YF-21 prototype two years ago I don't see this line going anywhere soon. I do wish they had brought out many, many more, because it seemed like this line would be great for collectability, but I'm guessing you need to put the same amount of R&D into these as for a 1/60 product, so they probably just want to focus on the latter. Here's a nice pic:

You should really try to get this information out there to people, because I don't think it's common knowledge and Sony is definitely not going to talk mention any of it.
