  1. But it already is a remake. Of a remake. Etc.
  2. Well... Yeah. Seems to me like it's EXACTLY like that, actually.
  3. I think Aquarion Evol is so-so. I am in love with three shows at the moment, though: 1) Uchuu Kyoudai / Space Brothers 2) Lupin III: A Woman named Fujiko Mine 3) Kids on the Slope I recommend everyone to check them out! I think all three are excellent, the first is going to be a huge commercial success (there's a live-action movie on the way) and the other two are destined to become classics.
  4. I'm interested in checking this out, but I'm really not into all the hoop-jumping that you have to go through for downloads. Judging by all the rave reviews, if this was on physical media I would immediately have jumped on board, but as it is, I would rather not.
  5. To be fair, he also quoted Great Mechanics, and for the most part those guys know what they're talking about. And all you have to do is watch episode 1 and 2 of Dragonar and it's pretty obvious that conceptually it is a re-imagining of Gundam in everything but name. But that's neither here nor there, really. This thread is essentially about nostalgia and nothing else. Macross isn't what it used to be, because Macross was ALWAYS a product of its time. If the contextual anime industry has changed over the years, then any new Macross series will reflect that. It's not so hard, guys -- you can't go back in time!
  6. But the older crowd likes that stuff, too. I don't see how Zero was "just as indicative" of appealing to younger people as Frontier. There was no pop song that the teens could go and sing at karaoke, there was not much in the way of cosplay options, there was no bishounen. It was pure, undiluted military porn -- that wasn't "hot" in 2002-2004, and it isn't "hot" now: you have to go back to 1982 for that. Kids today love Brera, Alto, Ranka, etc.; old men love Focker. Yakitate JaPAN? You made me go back and watch that again now, argh
  7. Perhaps, but I believe that Macross Zero was aimed mostly for the original Macross fan crowd, late thirties/early forties, with very little consideration for the teens. I doubt there was little overlap at first, and actually it was only later that younger audiences who got into the franchise through Frontier went back to check out Zero, since a lot of the plot points tie into each other (plus there is also the "Legend of Zero" episode, which is basically an advert for the OVA -- so good strategy there).

    HI METAL LOVE THREAD

Agreed. The V2's lack of give in the hips is a major downer in an otherwise pretty good toy. I also feel that the Hi-Metal's shoulder transformation system is much better (and accurate to the show, for those who care) than the brittle and loose (as in, they don't lock anywhere) hinges on the V2.
  9. "Uchuu Kyoudai / Space Brothers" is probably my favourite show right now! Today's episode was about a guy sitting for a job interview at JAXA, Japan's equivalent of NASA. Doesn't seem particularly exciting, but it's really well done. The manga was very popular and I think later this year there is a live-action movie coming out. Didn't know that an anime had started airing until just a few days ago, though. You don't hear this from me very often... but I RECOMMEND!
  10. One of them was wearing a "KISS" T-shirt. Now, a KISS anime directed by Kawamori, THAT I'd watch! And you can still fit in the loli girls if you really want them because they would fit well with Gene Simmons's animated tongue.
  11. Because fans of the Beatles really love the Spice Girls?
  12. Essentially it's just a different level of the same game, so it is highly unlikely the controls have changed. It certainly hasn't changed in any significant way since Macross Ace Frontier, and that was back in 2008 or so.

    ID these SD's

A few of these have been reviewed on CDX: http://collectiondx.com/toy_review/sd_vt1
  14. Lagrange is due for a second series, and an OVA in a few months.
  15. MWer "jvmacross" has some of the most impressive things in his collection. Perusing his Takatoku flyer thread, I noticed possibly the world's first ever Cavaliers custom valk: http://home.comcast.net/~vega1635/pwpimages/takatoku%20toys%20macross%20poster%20ad%208%28Small%29.JPG
  16. Is it, "Duuuude! Did you draw that??"

  18. http://www.macross30.com/1stmovie/anniversarybox/ Tenjin's box art revealed.
  19. Looking good. I passed by this event today, but I wasn't allowed inside. There were enormous, images of the previous stock photos outside the windows, though, so I really wanted to sneak in.
  20. Well, there you go, then! We can all meet up and bitch about the lackluster event over drinks in the evening. That would make the whole experience worthwhile.
  21. Somebody on here has already done that. It's not that hard, either... apparently. The main problem is that Yamato glued the whole damn thing shut, so you have to pry the two halves open and if you screw it up... you're screwed.
  22. Yeah, and I don't understand why. I have the previous release (non-remaster) Japanese DVD sets and they have both the Japanese and English audio dubs. Why take out features, if they can't even license it abroad??
  23. It's gonna be on Mobage, which means that it's for cellphones, though I'm not trendy enough to own a smartphone so I don't know much else about whether it's compatible with iPhone OS or Android, I assume both. Interesting that they're using the Artdink graphics, though.
  24. Aaaaand... OK. Saving this for future blackmail purposes. Keep in mind this is a thread about Remembering Love. DO YOU REMEMBER LOVE?!?argh
